After being seated by the owner, who assured us whatever we ordered would be great, we were very disappointed with two of the meals ordered. One was the goat cheese salad which was more the size of a side salad than a main dish, with tasteless bread wafers adorning it. The other was the very expensive lobster pasta, which looked great, but the lobster was over cooked & chewy. We mentioned it to the waitress a couple of times, but were not offered any discount for the meal. After this experience, will not be returning to this restaurant when in Montreal.
Personnels toujours sympathique quand on passe devant. Magnifique terrasse très conviviale & chic!!!
It was quite hot outside so we chose to sit inside. We did smell a bit of cigar smoke when we walked in. The restaurant does have a French brasserie & bistro feel. We ordered beef cheek with vegetables & lobster pasta. The beef cheek was flavorful & tender. Lobster pasta was tasty. Overall, I enjoyed the food even though it was a bit pricey.
I recently visited Chez Alexandre & had a great experience overall. The waitress & the service were amazing. However, my evening took a negative turn when the manager, who was working that Thursday night, was extremely rude & dismissive. He ignored my requests & even stated that he didn't have time to assist me, when the place is not even packed. Considering Im there once a week,, the least he could do was listen to my simple request for a lighter for the cigar I bought at the restaurant. While everything else was exceptional, this specific manager's behavior was unacceptable & should be addressed.
Neat venue (if you sit inside), patio outside is fine. The food is just serviceable & the service was slow & distracted. I enjoyed the steak frites enough. Mostly tourists, & the price doesn't quite justify it.

Chez Alexandre offered quite a unique experience, perhaps influenced by our seating upstairs. Advertised as a French restaurant, the interior surprisingly had signs boasting it was an English pub. The ambiance was reminiscent of a cabaret, with the waitstaff dressed in tiny tops & mini skirts that highlighted their curvy figures. We only stayed for cocktails, which, unfortunately, were disappointing. The gin martini was undrinkable, & the cosmopolitan was poorly made. Additionally, the restaurant itself was not very clean & felt cluttered with multiple artifacts & art pieces. If you're looking for something bizarre, it might be worth a visit, & perhaps the food is very good, but overall, I was not impressed.
Overpriced menu with limited options for F1 weekend. Maître d was rude throughout our meal - but especially so when we ordered several starters. Other serving staff were pleasant, & food was good. But the bill was tough to swallow after our meal. Snobs.
Belle ambiance.
