We had a lovely meal at Chez Alexandre. It was our anniversary over the weekend & they did not disappoint for our celebration. The food was excellent & timed perfectly. They provided suggestions that complimented each other & our wines. For the wines they have a lovely list & as it was something special we did splurge & they handled the wines as if it were every day (including moving us to a bit larger table to accommodate our selections. The service was all you could ask for. Our server, with one of his teammates took care of all our needs, were friendly & informative but allowed us our time & privacy. Definitely a place we'd recommend for something special, or just a perfect evening out.

The place is iconic , worth a drink & an appetizer but the main dishes are average & overpriced. My friend had the salmon tartare that tasted bad, the waiter took it back & offered the steak 🥩 tartare, which was like raw hamburger beef shredded, no taste like a real beef tartare, I had the fish & chips, I ate it but it was again the most average I ever had. I paid total $85,14 tip included for a glass of beer, a white wine 🍷 for 20$, average quality, & a fish & chips, the lunch menu seems a little better because the appetizer are included with the main dishes. But again I wonder 💭 why it's French style but with a fast food average quality! I won't be back for a dinner, maybe a drink & appetizer for the ambience & service.
I just love this place. Food is fantastic! Wine choices are superb & the location gives you a true Montreal vibe. Everyone there are great! Prices are reasonable & the quality of the food is exceptional! Highly recommend Pub Alexandre.

After a Horrible experience a 9ième at Eaton, Chez Alexandre was what is expected of a good restaurant: great homemade food, superb attentive service & no attitude from snutty staff. All delivered at fast face at reasonable price.. Merci Alain you have beautiful daughter BTW!

Pleasantly surprised!
I had Moules, frites with a glass of white wine. Great taste, good price considering location & ambiance. Presentation of the moules was in a small cauldron, so you take the top off & this is where you put the shells. When this was full, the garçon de table switch my small & cute cauldron for a dirty looking glass bowl...add a little bit more butter with the bread. Décor is tired & needs updating, I did not take any points off for this.
Bastien, our waiter & ever so qualified advisor on food & wine was just superb! The food was exquisite & the ambiance very French & bistro inviting. We will return!
We were looking for an authentic French bistro in Montreal, & Chez Alexandre was recommended to us. We decided to give it a try, & it truly was an incredible experience! My wife & I enjoyed a wonderful steak au poivre, paired with an exceptional wine & delicious fries. For starters, we had a spectacular soup of the day. To finish, we ordered the Profiterole with chocolate sauce, which was absolutely perfect. The service was impeccable as well. We were served by Bastien, who made the experience even more special. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to feel a little piece of France-a charming Parisian bistro in the heart of Montreal.

My first time here after walking by to meet my wife. We were supposed to go to Paris for Christmas but my wife's passport got caught up in the strike. Well, Paris came to us here! What a lovely place! Our server, Bastien, was phenomenal. His wine knowledge is fantastic. The owner came by to say hello. My wife had a salad Nicoise , which she loved. I had a smoked salmon starter & a lovely duck breast for a main course. Both were excellent. Bastien started me off with a sparkling rose followed by a sauvignon blanc semillon & a red with the duck. I highly recommend this spot!
Chez Alexandre is a Montreal institution...I was with a group of about 15 people, & the attention, service, & food was phenomenal...the wine was really great as well.
This place is a gem! We went there for valentine's day. I wasn't expecting such an amazing moment. The food & the wine was amazing & the manager was so nice & welcoming. I will come back often for sure. I definitely recommend!
Wonderful experience. The owner, Alain, came to our table to introduce himself. It made the meal more special as he made food & wine recommendations. Very cozy & comfortable atmosphere. The beef tartare was made to order & was delicious. As a visitor to Montreal on a very cold day it was a wonderful find to walk into a warm & inviting restaurant with excellent service & food.

Very interesting training of your staff, we had to beckon the waitress over after she had a gulp of her wine to get us water. She did not really know what was on the menu & was acting like she was under the influence. She continued to sip her wine & also vaped right at the front entrance only a few feet away from us on the patio. We have never experienced such terrible service. However the food was very good. The owner needs to review the hiring & training policies.
Staff were great. Martin, our server, was a lot of fun. Wine was fabulous. Charcuterie board was light for the price. Flank steak was a disaster. It wasn't marinated prior to cooking. Tough piece of meat to simply grill & serve.
Lovely & comprehensive experience, delivered with charm & professionalism; cocktails, wine, meal & cigars upstairs (we came for the cigars). Arrived early & got brilliant attention. Beef tartare & fish were excellent. Prices are reasonable. & an extraordinary surprise Canadian history immersion on the wall.

Excellent service filled with warmth & attention. Steak tartare is excellent with the recommended Sancerre glass of wine. A must all year round especially with the winter coming. This place will warm your heart.
