Amazing food. Unbelievably good service. Had Bastien as a server, he was fantastic. I ordered the Steak tartare - highly recommend. Love this place & will be back.View more
We were looking for an authentic French bistro in Montreal, & Chez Alexandre was recommended to us. We decided to give it a try, & it truly was an incredible experience! My wife & I enjoyed a wonderful steak au poivre, paired with an exceptional wine & delicious fries. For starters, we had a spectacular soup of the day. To finish, we ordered the Profiterole with chocolate sauce, which was absolutely perfect. The service was impeccable as well. We were served by Bastien, who made the experience even more special. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to feel a little piece of France-a charming Parisian bistro in the heart of Montreal.View more

Starving but not willing to pay $$$$, we didn't eat at the Cafe next door because it was pricey as sin to then just to sit at Alexandre & pay ridiculous for a boring roast beef sandwich & fries. Also ordered steak frites, & a bland les pates au homard (lobster w/ pasta). Out of the 3, only the steak was worth it; the hostess ended up ALSO being the waitress, who never provided her name & though she was sweet, she forgot to give us our'leftovers' & we had to remind her upon leaving. We sat al fresco & for a fam of 4 on 2 small round tables & chairs that couldn't move on the carpeted area.View more
Paella is nothing like paella, special was rib eye steak, if it was a rib eye it was off a Holstein, no marbled fat, low quality steak.View more
Neat venue (if you sit inside), patio outside is fine. The food is just serviceable & the service was slow & distracted. I enjoyed the steak frites enough. Mostly tourists, & the price doesn't quite justify it.View more
We've been here twice: 2007 & 2023, & have had an amazing experience both times. The risotto, duck confit, & steak frites are exceptional, & service was lovely. We also enjoyed the cigar lounge after dinner. If you're looking for an authentic French dining experience, this is it!View more

Always a pleasure to eat Chez Alexandre. Decor is mythique, a true parisian brasserie. Superb service & a very French menu
Love the calf liver & steak tartare
Staff were great. Martin, our server, was a lot of fun. Wine was fabulous. Charcuterie board was light for the price. Flank steak was a disaster. It wasn't marinated prior to cooking. Tough piece of meat to simply grill & serve.
This place was a delightful surprise. Our steaks came perfectly cooked & the white pepper sauce was simply delicious. The profiterole dessert was great as well. In short, a great bistro meal & at a very fair price point as well.

Excellent service filled with warmth & attention. Steak tartare is excellent with the recommended Sancerre glass of wine. A must all year round especially with the winter coming. This place will warm your heart.
