I went to Chez Alexandre for dinner & also revisited the hidden cigar lounge on the second floor, one of Montreal's best kept secrets if you're into cigars. It's been a while since I'd been, & while the space is a bit aged, it has a lot of character & history. You can bring your own cigar, & it's usually quiet during the week, which makes it a great spot to unwind. I highly recommend ordering an Americano with a shot of Baileys on the side, plus two sugar cubes. It's a simple pleasure that fits the vibe perfectly.
The food downstairs was average, but the service was good. & don't miss the photo wall on the main floor. It's packed with Montreal history & old-school charm. Fun fact for those who remember, the club next door used to be the iconic Funky Town. Also worth mentioning, this is one of the few places I know that has Peroni on tap.
If you're driving, ask about the free parking deal when you make your reservation. They offer parking in a nearby building if you're dining in. Definitely a unique spot in Montreal worth checking out.View more

We were looking for an authentic French bistro in Montreal, & Chez Alexandre was recommended to us. We decided to give it a try, & it truly was an incredible experience! My wife & I enjoyed a wonderful steak au poivre, paired with an exceptional wine & delicious fries. For starters, we had a spectacular soup of the day. To finish, we ordered the Profiterole with chocolate sauce, which was absolutely perfect. The service was impeccable as well. We were served by Bastien, who made the experience even more special. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to feel a little piece of France-a charming Parisian bistro in the heart of Montreal.View more

My first time here after walking by to meet my wife. We were supposed to go to Paris for Christmas but my wife's passport got caught up in the strike. Well, Paris came to us here! What a lovely place! Our server, Bastien, was phenomenal. His wine knowledge is fantastic. The owner came by to say hello. My wife had a salad Nicoise , which she loved. I had a smoked salmon starter & a lovely duck breast for a main course. Both were excellent. Bastien started me off with a sparkling rose followed by a sauvignon blanc semillon & a red with the duck. The hostess did not adequately check our vaccine mandates. She only looked at the QR code but did not use the vaxicode app.
Although we specified we wanted our cocktails first & did not want to receive our food order until we had finished our cocktails, the waitress brought
everything together. Furthermore, she wore her mask below her nose while serving us. I had ordered mussels, several of which had broken shells.
Overall, it was not a good experience & I would not recommend this restaurant.
