Chenoy's serves authentic Montreal style smoked meat that is cured and spiced according to long-standing traditions. Each serving consists of hand-carved, tender beef piled high onto fresh rye bread, typically accompanied by sharp yellow mustard and crunchy dill pickles. The menu extends to include classic deli staples such as poutine, crispy fries, and coleslaw prepared with a signature tang. Patrons encounter a straightforward environment where the focus remains entirely on the quality of the cured meats and the efficiency of the kitchen. Portions are notably substantial, ensuring that every plate delivers a heavy, protein-focused experience characteristic of traditional Jewish delis. The establishment maintains a no-nonsense approach to service, emphasizing quick preparation and the reliable delivery of staple comfort foods that define the local smoked meat culture.

Chenoys has been around forever. I remember riding my purple bike with the paisley banana seat there, wearing my bright yellow CKGM t-shirt, to win a free smoked meat sandwich. I live in Toronto now & visit Montreal a few times a year, & always, always, & always, stop in at Chenoys. I eat there with some trepidation because, although the place looks clean, albeit dated, it smells like a toilet. But it's the best place I know of to buy a smoked meat sandwich. My mom is in a nursing home & I always bring her a sandwich & a slice of strawberry cheesecake.
Local friends brought us here right after our flight to try our first proper smoked meat sandwich & did not disappoint. Friday evening, it was quite quiet. The decor is very old school diner complete with vinyl booths, stained glass lamps (love!) & lovely service. We ordered the original smoked meat sandwich platter with some shrimp & steak & upgraded to a poutine of course. The sandwich was quite tasty but the steak was a little dry. Not surprising as we didn't come here for the steak. Loved the poutine though. A must try! We also ordered a cheesecake to go on the road with us to share with some friends & OMG is it heavy & dense! True deli cafe style. I love my cheesecake but I couldn't finish my slice sadly.
Chenoy's Deli never disappoints! Whenever we pass through the West Island, we always stop here even if just for take out. Generous portions, delicious smoked meat, & you have to try a slice of their strawberry cheesecake (if you've got room!) It's a shame they're not open 24 hours anymore, but a definite stop if you can!
For their smoked meat & deli, as well as cheesecake, it's great. They have the best smoked meat on the west island, better than Pete's. The rest of the food is mediocre, & although the service is friendly, it's very slow. The decor could use an update as well.
We hadn’t been to Chenoy’s in a couple
of years. The food (especially the old fashioned smoked meat)was as good as ever. The service was exceptional. Our server,Lavera did everything but cartwheels to make sure we had a good dining experience.
We would return for the food,of course but being served by Lavera again would be the cherry on Chenoy’s amazing cheesecake.
