Party of six. I had the cod Minhota which was tough & so full of bones. Unappetizing as it wasn't filleted, the spine was covered in potatoes which made it difficult to eat. The seafood rice was way too fishy & the seafood was tough. Perhaps not fresh. The bread & wine was good. The appetizers…again fish was tough.
Im writting this in hopes someone from the restaurant reads it. It was my first time there I brought my boyfriend for his bday…food was great..we took fish & seafood mostly…. However a few hours later my boyfriend & I got severe food poisonning…. We have been sick for more than 24hrs… It kinda sucks because the food & service was great but clearly your fish & seafood had contaminants.
Best Portuguese food is known for its seafood, cured meats, & soups, & this place lived up all those expectations.
The service was excellent, & the staff was friendly & through with menu, great recommendations for dinner. They often check to ensure all is well.
An abundance of seafood is served here, whether it is in season or not. I asked our server where the lobster was from & he said Newfoundland. Lobster season in NL ends in July every year so either he wasn't telling the truth or the lobster wasn't very fresh. The sardines were good, a Portuguese specialty worth trying.
I recently dined at Casa Minhota & had an amazing experience. The place has a cozy, inviting atmosphere, & the staff were incredibly welcoming & attentive. As a Portuguese, I can confidently say the food was authentic & absolutely delicious, bringing me back to the flavors of home. From the perfectly grilled seafood to the rich, flavorful stews, everything was spot-on. If you're looking for a genuine taste of Portugal, I highly recommend Casa Minhota. I'll definitely be back!
This is one of the best Portuguese restaurants Ive ever been to. The waiter picked out our meal selection because it was our first time there & everything was 10/10! Highly recommend if you're looking to have really amazing seafood..
This was the first place we ate at. It was late & we were looking for something that wasn’t going to have a wait & be in the area. There are a lot of Portuguese restaurants so thought we should try one out, but this one fell short despite decent reviews. The service was fine, but not super attentive & pretty minimalist except for the server at the end who was nice enough to give an extra free dessert to go.
Food wasn’t bad, but wasn’t great either. The mussels tasted fishy & many weren’t opened. The octopus seemed more like a mixed salad with octopus instead of the octopus being the main star of the dish. The seafood plate was basically lobster (which I do appreciate & that was good) with other average seafood around it. They don’t give descriptions so you don’t know what you’re getting on the plate.
The bar area seemed more local & friendly. A decent amount of tables that were close but not too close, atmosphere was fine - not too loud, but felt lively enough. Overall I’d try elsewhere especially with the amount of great food in Montreal.
We have visited Montreal for 2 days & we wish we would find this restaurant on the first day, but unfortunately we found it on the second day, but the experience was excellent from the moment we have ebtered. we had seafood for lunch. the service was excellent, the food amazing, I highly recommend this restaurant
The waiter was so helpful & friendly. The food was great! It's not expensive for the volume of food you receive. Fish, seafood, & steak were delicious. I recommend this restaurant for anyone who has never tried Portuguese meals! Simply so fresh & tasty!

5 stars for what it is - a medium range, relatively inexpensive traditional Portuguese restaurant (seafood, paella, some meat dishes). Good food, friendly (sometimes a bit rushed) service, informal setting, good for families. We have been going there for years & are always warmly greeted by the staff. We love the place!
We enjoyed every bite, for starters we had grilled octopus the portion was enough for 2 ,clams Balhao very tasty . Main courses my husband took paella which he said was good & a great variety of seafood. I had the alentajano yummy I suggest you add hot sauce to give it a kick. Service was good & friendly. Prices average.
