A true gem in the heart of Plateau-Mont-Royal (Portuguese Plateau).
We were 5 people for lunch during a busy weekend, Saint-Laurent Sidewalk Sale. Surprisingly inside, it wasn't. We showed up no reservation & they took us in right away.
The waiter was super friendly & checked up on us regularly. There was a big group in the second section of the restaurant, but they weren't that loud for us to talk. The food was amazing. No issues with the chicken, pork, shrimps & steak. Everything was perfection.
I would suggest anyone on a visit from anywhere, to try out this restaurant if you are in the heart of the Portugese Plateau.View more

A wonderful & very authentic Portuguese restaurant! Great ambiance, food, & service! We each went with the table d'hôte menu; very reasonably priced. The food was excellent!View more
Best Portuguese food is known for its seafood, cured meats, & soups, & this place lived up all those expectations.
The service was excellent, & the staff was friendly & through with menu, great recommendations for dinner. They often check to ensure all is well.View more
If you are looking for a cosy - almost romantic like atmosphere, warm attentive service (when not overly busy), authentic Portuguese food - This is the right place.
I am going to make this really simple & to the point with regards to their food.
EVERY dish I have eaten over multiple visits has been most enjoyable. Seasoning, portions, texture, doneness - you name it. The only sad part of this place is when you are finished your meal - you actually kinda want to press a magic button to restart the experience & start to eat all over again.
& as with any good Portuguese restaurant, the classic dessert to eat is the Nata... it is simple, delicious & you can not stop at one.View more
An abundance of seafood is served here, whether it is in season or not. I asked our server where the lobster was from & he said Newfoundland. Lobster season in NL ends in July every year so either he wasn't telling the truth or the lobster wasn't very fresh. The sardines were good, a Portuguese specialty worth trying.View more
I recently dined at Casa Minhota & had an amazing experience. The place has a cozy, inviting atmosphere, & the staff were incredibly welcoming & attentive. As a Portuguese, I can confidently say the food was authentic & absolutely delicious, bringing me back to the flavors of home. From the perfectly grilled seafood to the rich, flavorful stews, everything was spot-on. If you're looking for a genuine taste of Portugal, I highly recommend Casa Minhota. I'll definitely be back!View more

We were hosted to this restaurant by our Portuguese friend recently. It's clearly a family favorite, & now I understand why. The Portuguese cuisine was the best I've ever had-everything was freshly made, bursting with flavor, & incredibly juicy. A big thank you to CASA MINHOTA for the exceptional hospitality & for letting us experience such outstanding dishes. Highly recommended!View more

Food is incredible there. Loved that all waiters spoke Portuguese, this made the experience even more authentic. Music not too loud. We will be back for sure!View more

A Little Taste of Portugal:
If you want to taste the real authentic Portuguese dishes, Casa Minhota is your place. Excellent quality & prices for your food. It does not matter what you order All there recipes are authentic & very good. Place is also very clean. The negative side: We are now hooked & are there every second week. The big bonus free parking in the back.View more
We were walking past around lunchtime so decided to have a Sunday lunch there.
It was really busy, always a good sign.
Food is really good & good value for money.
Really authentic Portuguese cuisine.
We had amazing mussels for starters & shared a cod & a filet mignon for main courses.
Everything was cooked really well & were very tasty.
Desserts were good too.
We had some house red wine which we also liked.View more
I had a great experience today at the restaurant! I ordered a grilled bacalhau with potatos & vegetables covered with olive oil & a lot of garlic! The dish tasted awesome! Going together, I had some Portuguese wine. I will be back some day. 👍👍👍View more
This was the first place we ate at. It was late & we were looking for something that wasn’t going to have a wait & be in the area. There are a lot of Portuguese restaurants so thought we should try one out, but this one fell short despite decent reviews. The service was fine, but not super attentive & pretty minimalist except for the server at the end who was nice enough to give an extra free dessert to go.
Food wasn’t bad, but wasn’t great either. The mussels tasted fishy & many weren’t opened. The octopus seemed more like a mixed salad with octopus instead of the octopus being the main star of the dish. The seafood plate was basically lobster (which I do appreciate & that was good) with other average seafood around it. They don’t give descriptions so you don’t know what you’re getting on the plate.
The bar area seemed more local & friendly. A decent amount of tables that were close but not too close, atmosphere was fine - not too loud, but felt lively enough. Overall I’d try elsewhere especially with the amount of great food in Montreal.View more
