I had the worst experience ever dining with my family in this restaurant, the food was great tho but the service was the worst , we were so mistreated & I felt like we were racially profiled , they took forever to put in our order , we waited for more than an hour just to get our appetizer & mind you i still tip 20 % , we left feeling humiliated.
Out server was ignoring us the whole time, my son was trying to get his attention to get our bill but no response whatsoever

Dès l'entrée, l'odeur de l'huile d'olive, de l'ail & du grillé vous transporte immédiatement loin des rues de Montréal. Ici, on ne mange pas simplement : on est reçu. C'est la « cuisine de maman » dans ce qu'elle a de plus noble - généreuse, sans artifice & profondément authentique. Chaque plat semble avoir été préparé avec une attention particulière, comme si chaque client était un membre de la famille de retour au pays.
L'expérience dans l'assiette!
La cuisine est une célébration de la tradition portugaise. Les portions ne sont pas là pour décorer l'assiette, elles sont là pour honorer le produit. Qu'il s'agisse de la pieuvre parfaitement tendre ou de la morue emblématique, la fraîcheur est indiscutable. On en ressort, c'est vrai, le corps un peu plus lourd - la faute à une gourmandise qu'on ne peut freiner - mais avec cette sensation rare de satiété totale.

Le service est tout simplement impeccable. Attentif sans être intrusif, le personnel porte cette hospitalité naturelle qui fait toute la différence. On se sent vu, écouté & surtout, bienvenu.
Verdict :
On quitte la Casa Minhota les batteries rechargées & l'esprit apaisé. C'est l'un de ces rares endroits où l'on arrive avec un appétit & d'où l'on repart, certes l'estomac bien rempli, mais surtout avec le coeur définitivement plus léger. Une adresse incontournable pour quiconque souhaite voyager sans passeport.

My family & I have been going here for years. It's one of the gems of Montreal restaurants. The food is authentic, delicious, & proportionate to the cost. My favourite dishes are the grilled octopus & shrimp entrees, the sea food rice main dish, & the aroz doce (sweet rice) dessert. The service here is unlike others. From the moment you enter, to the second you leave, the waiters are always making sure you well taken care of. The atmosphere makes me feel like I'm back in Portugal; with the beautiful decor & homey feel. All in all, this place is not only a must try, but also a tradition to eat here.
I used to go there when I was a kid & a teenager. Took my girlfriend there for Valentine's Day. This restaurant is still awesome. Staff is super friendly & accommodating. Food is wonderful. (Try the shrimp entrée; trust me, it is worth it.)
I've never tried such a delicious Portuguese restaurant in Montreal, & I'm glad I had the opportunity to dine at Casa Minhota. The staff is friendly & exceptionally quick at taking orders & offering great suggestions. The space is beautifully decorated, it truly feels like you're in Portugal for a moment.
We ordered the Cod Fried Balls, Camarao Picante, & Grilled Calamari. The sangria was excellent & very refreshing. I would definitely come back!
