Casa Galicia has been a staple of Spanish cuisine in Montreal since 1977. Founded by Laurentino Oliveira and still proudly family-run, the tradition continues today with Jorge Oliveira and David Oliveira at the helm.
Recognized as one of the best Spanish restaurants in North America, Casa Galicia specializes in authentic Galician cuisine, offering classic dishes like paella, zarzuela, and a variety of regional specialties. Guests can pair their meals with a refreshing pitcher of sangria considered among the best in Montreal, or explore the restaurant’s unique wine cellar, featuring reserve wines from Spain’s most prestigious winemaking regions.
The warm and welcoming atmosphere, friendly service, and distinctive décor make every visit memorable. On weekends, the experience is elevated with live flamenco performances, including a professional Spanish guitarist, bringing a touch of Spain’s vibrant culture to the heart of the city.
Casa Galicia offers a cozy, authentic Spanish dining experience in Montreal with a warm, inviting ambiance and a memorable flamenco show on weekend evenings. Guests consistently praise generous portions of paella, tapas, and seafood, with flavors described as vibrant and transportive. Service is repeatedly noted as attentive and friendly, often making guests feel at home even on busy nights. The setting blends intimate dining nooks with lively entertainment, creating a versatile venue for anniversaries, dates, or casual dinners. The overall experience is enriched by decor, music, and wine that evoke Spain, while the team attends to every detail to ensure a memorable night. While some reviews mention higher prices, many emphasize that the combination of food quality, ambiance, and flamenco makes the visit worthwhile.
Casa Galicia nails the cozy, casual, family-style spanish food was always meant to be experienced. The ambience turns bottles of wine into heartfelt toasts & the tapas will make you wish everyone joining your table would do so forever.
May more people get to create wonderful memories here. As for me, my wife's 30th birthday here will be, for the time being, a tough one to beat.... Olé!
Environment: Good
Service: Good (no rushing us, very polite)
Tapas: we order the 6 tapas, & the quality is great. However, the portion is unbelievably small. For $50 CAD you are getting 2 spoon of food for each tapa.
Paellas: Quality is decent, but the portion is also lacking for sure. The dish comes out a bit dry compare to what I am expecting.
(For your reference, I usually have less food than average male of my size, but paellas + half of 6 tapas is barely enough food for me. [Thats $83 dollars before taxes & tips]
Wine: I only order one glass & asked them to recommend. Doesnt seems like there are much choices. The wine is fine, but didn't go well with the dishes we ordered.

We just had a wonderful evening at this place. Great selection of paella's, good wine, excellent desserts too. We were spoils with some port wine on the house at the end & on top of everything we forgot a bag & they reopened for us to grab it. Thank you for a wonderful evening ❤?
Went for the first time, it was last minute due to plan changing & the staff still helped find us a table on a busy night. it was an incredible evening with amazing food & service, great wine list, live music & friendly family atmosphere. Great seafood paella & tapas!
I brought my family here while visiting Montréal. It is the best seafood I have had in YEARS. Our server, Firio guided us through the menu, & allowed us to try some of the finest seafood samplings, including snow crab legs, the largest scallops I have ever had, & the best sangria I have tried TO DATE. My grandma ordered the whole fish entree & she picked it clean. This place was incredible. The service was incredible. The food & wine were incredible. My mom loved it so much, she said it has to be a staple each time we visit Montréal. There is also a vegan menu, & the vegan paella was made with care, featuring vegan shrimp & vegan chicken protein substitutes. I will be back. Thank you for the memories.
Amazing experience! We chose to do the chef experience with lobster. The food was beyond great, & the portions were good ( keep in mind this is a sea food restaurant, not an all you can eat sushi bar, lol) The staff were so kind & welcoming we had the chance to be served outstandingly they complemted us with a porto wine from spain! It's just perfect overall & worth the price! Totally recommend

Our server was incredible. Overall a great experience with the flamenco dancing performance as well. Good wine selection & awesome garlic shrimp & desserts.
Lovely ambience, really friendly wait staff, good wine & terrific Flamenco performance. The food was underwhelming- octopus was tough & bland, the tomato salad really shouldn't be on the menu at this time of year, the paella was good but without the traditional crusty bottom.
Service & ambiance was great. However, the appetizers were a bit disappointing. We had octopus which was tough, cod croquettes which were tasteless & dry, ham & melon was fine, lobster bisque was fine, even the complimentary bread was too toasted (every piece was very crunchy like croutons). Our mains were great though, we had paellas which were great! & great wine. For the price & quality, I'm a bit disappointed.
Amazing staff ! delicious traditional Spanish meals! Great wine selection. The dessert are fantastic. & the flamenco dancer & musicians are simply unbelievable one of my favorite place in Montreal. The design of the restaurant really makes you feel like you travelled.
Perfect for a romantic date 🔥❤️

Great evening with live music & Flamenco.
Great food. Had the Seafood Paella with the Lobster for 2. Great wine recommendation from our great server Gino.
It's our 2nd time there & this was even better
Very nice place for dinner, friendly & attentionate service. Had the plato de Mariscos for two & it was excellent, nicely seasoned & nice variety, Langostina, crab legs, lobster, king shrimps, mussels clams & a nicely saffran laced arroz bomba....a taste & warmth of Espana in cold Montreal. The Spanish wine selection is also superb for the aficionado , had a 1991 Monte Real reserva from Rioja. Excellent.
