Casa Galicia has been a staple of Spanish cuisine in Montreal since 1977. Founded by Laurentino Oliveira and still proudly family-run, the tradition continues today with Jorge Oliveira and David Oliveira at the helm.
Recognized as one of the best Spanish restaurants in North America, Casa Galicia specializes in authentic Galician cuisine, offering classic dishes like paella, zarzuela, and a variety of regional specialties. Guests can pair their meals with a refreshing pitcher of sangria considered among the best in Montreal, or explore the restaurant’s unique wine cellar, featuring reserve wines from Spain’s most prestigious winemaking regions.
The warm and welcoming atmosphere, friendly service, and distinctive décor make every visit memorable. On weekends, the experience is elevated with live flamenco performances, including a professional Spanish guitarist, bringing a touch of Spain’s vibrant culture to the heart of the city.
Casa Galicia stands out as a welcoming spot with generous portions, flavorful seafood and paella, friendly service, and a warm authentic Spanish ambiance, enhanced by lively flamenco on select nights and a memorable overall experience that makes guests want to return.
Convenient location (on Rue St-Denis near Theatre St-Denis); easy to reserve online or by phone; clean; quiet (but there is regular live Flamenco music later on some evenings - we were there on a Sunday); nice atmosphere; warm reception; good Spanish (Catalonian) menu (paella, fish, seafood, tapas etc.), & well stocked European wine & spirits list; drinks & food were served quickly with good presentation; very good price/quality; recommend.
Absolutely loved this place! The food was authentic, flavorful, & beautifully presented. The paella was rich & perfectly cooked, & the tapas were amazing for sharing. The atmosphere felt warm & lively, with great music & cozy Spanish vibes. Staff were friendly, attentive, & made the whole experience even better. Definitely one of the best Spanish restaurants I've tried - highly recommend for date nights or dinners with friends! We were served by Firo

Casa Galicia nails the cozy, casual, family-style spanish food was always meant to be experienced. The ambience turns bottles of wine into heartfelt toasts & the tapas will make you wish everyone joining your table would do so forever.
May more people get to create wonderful memories here. As for me, my wife's 30th birthday here will be, for the time being, a tough one to beat.... Olé!
Environment: Good
Service: Good (no rushing us, very polite)
Tapas: we order the 6 tapas, & the quality is great. However, the portion is unbelievably small. For $50 CAD you are getting 2 spoon of food for each tapa.
Paellas: Quality is decent, but the portion is also lacking for sure. The dish comes out a bit dry compare to what I am expecting.
(For your reference, I usually have less food than average male of my size, but paellas + half of 6 tapas is barely enough food for me. [Thats $83 dollars before taxes & tips]
Wine: I only order one glass & asked them to recommend. Doesnt seems like there are much choices. The wine is fine, but didn't go well with the dishes we ordered.
Casa Galicia stands out as a top choice for Spanish cuisine in Montreal, delivering vibrant flavors , friendly hospitality & value. Definitely were coming back to explore more tapas & try different Paella.

Absolutamente delicioso! First of all I felt like I was actually in Spain. Wonderful atmosphere! David & Firo were amazing. We had delicious tapas (the best octopus salad). Great Flamenco show & finished off with a glass of Porto. A definite do over!
Went for the first time, it was last minute due to plan changing & the staff still helped find us a table on a busy night. it was an incredible evening with amazing food & service, great wine list, live music & friendly family atmosphere. Great seafood paella & tapas!
The restaurant's cozy, rustic decor & lively music immediately made us feel like we were in Spain. We started with a selection of delicious tapas, with the grilled octopus being my favorite. For the main course, we had a seafood paella that was incredibly flavorful. The staff were very friendly & welcoming. I highly recommend this place for a lovely evening out in town.

Excellent ambiance, decor, music, food & service. It was a great experience. The grilled octopus one of the best We had a great cava to go with everything. The tapas in the appetizer section the Garlic shrimps WOW the paella Galicia was amazing ,I recommend this restaurant with excellent unique decoration & taste to everyone looking for a Medditerranean experience in Montreal
We had the most delicious tapas & paella last night at Casa Galicia! Everyone at the restaurant were very attentive & the atmosphere was very cozy. Started with tapas, sangria & a martini, followed by two different paellas. We had a 7:30 reservation so we could see the flamenco dancing. The show did not disappoint,, very entertaining. The owners have created such a family atmosphere, welcoming to all!
Excellent souper typique Spanish ! Tapas, paella & cazuela. Le spectacle de flamenco avec le guitariste a ajouté de la saveur à la soirée ! Luis Miguel, notre serveur est très professionnel & attentionné. Je recommande Casa Galicia. Je reviendrai très bientôt avec la familia ! Olé !
Restaurant Galicia displays an authentic decor & soft Spanish music. We were two couples who went for dinner on a Thursday evening. We ordered a variety of tapas, the shrimps (with tomatoes) were tasty, the fried calamares less so, patatas bravas were good & spicy. Our table ordered three different paellas & the chef was kind enough to accommodate allergies & excluding from one of the paellas some seafood, at out request. The paellas were good, but the lobster was not very tender. One person ordered a grilled fish that turned out to be excellent, moist, crisp outside. Large sangria jar. Food portions were generous. Service was very slow, despite the limited number of guests on that day, & we waited a long time between tapas & paellas, ending up eating a lot of bread, & thus feeling less hungry when the main course arrived. The restaurant has an interesting flamenco show on weekends which gives more authenticity to the place. Difficult to park (October 2021, many constructions around). The restaurant has put in place all adequate measures against COVID-19.
Beautiful evening, we had the yummy three variation tapas, traditional paella Valenciana & a delicious pitcher of Sangria. All this while enjoying the spectacle provided by the lovely flamenco dancer & lovelier Spanish guitarist. The service was impeccable & no one minded that we were still talking away after everyone else had left. Absolutely charmed by the warmth of the decor as well.
