About us
Casa Galicia has been a staple of Spanish cuisine in Montreal since 1977. Founded by Laurentino Oliveira and still proudly family-run, the tradition continues today with Jorge Oliveira and David Oliveira at the helm.
Recognized as one of the best Spanish restaurants in North America, Casa Galicia specializes in authentic Galician cuisine, offering classic dishes like paella, zarzuela, and a variety of regional specialties. Guests can pair their meals with a refreshing pitcher of sangria considered among the best in Montreal, or explore the restaurant’s unique wine cellar, featuring reserve wines from Spain’s most prestigious winemaking regions.

Excellent Spanish food, friendly & helpful staff, great atmosphere, best gaspacho & paella I had in Montreal, large portion & resonable prices, highest recommendations, we will go again!

I enjoyed my food & the amazing service at this restaurant. It had a cute Spanish vibe & brought me to Spain from Montreal. We had lobster bisque for our starter that was very creamy & delicious came with garlic bread which was a bit too crunchy. For main we had steak & paella which were so delicious. & as a dessert we had something like crème brûlée which tasted differently but ok. Something that I really loved about this place was the waiter who was very gentleman & respectful. He took care of us very well. I'd go back there again😊😊

Went to Casa Galicia for dinner & had an amazing time, beautiful dancing & guitar playing, the atmosphere is breathtaking. The owner allowed me to DJ (Sinceramente, es mi parte favorita, así que muchas gracias) the staff was so friendly, felt like I was a regular with how warm they treated everyone, yes! EVERYONE. Now the food 10/10 I had the snails & shrimp to start & the main was a paella. The portion sizes are definitely worth it, ordered one & it was large enough to share amongst two people. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the main course was so fulfilling that we had no space for dessert but judging by everything else, probably would've been just as great. I ordered mocktails, sangria & margarita, & usually people just give you juice & label it a'mocktail' THIS was different, there was actual depth & flavour to their mocktails. Truly considerate & I'm thankful for that.

TLDR: Too expensive for what you are getting.
Environment: Good
Service: Good (no rushing us, very polite)
Tapas: we order the 6 tapas, & the quality is great. However, the portion is unbelievably small. For $50 CAD you are getting 2 spoon of food for each tapa.
Paellas: Quality is decent, but the portion is also lacking for sure. The dish comes out a bit dry compare to what I am expecting.
(For your reference, I usually have less food than average male of my size, but paellas + half of 6 tapas is barely enough food for me. [Thats $83 dollars before taxes & tips]
Wine: I only order one glass & asked them to recommend. Doesnt seems like there are much choices. The wine is fine, but didn't go well with the dishes we ordered.

Mon amie & moi sommes allés souper hier (sep 11). Firo, le gérant fût très chaleureux & très intentionné dans son accueil & son service. Nous avons commandé une paella aux fruits de mer. C'était excellant. Le vin qu'il nous a conseillé a aussi très bien accompagné le plat. Nous avons choisi ce restaurant pour la location près des activités du Quartier Latin & parce que nous désirions manger de la cuisine espagnole. Ce resto, fût le début d'une très belle soirée pour nous. Merci Firo, nous nous reverrons bientôt.

We just had a wonderful evening at this place. Great selection of paella's, good wine, excellent desserts too. We were spoils with some port wine on the house at the end & on top of everything we forgot a bag & they reopened for us to grab it. Thank you for a wonderful evening ❤?

Service was friendly & prompt. Nice outdoor area. Issue was with the paella which is supposed to be flavorful & have a delicious socarrat, the crunchy layer of rice at the bottom. This was more of just a rice dish with seafood in it than a true paella.

I've been multiple times either as a couple, group of friends or with kids. Every time its been exceptional. The fried calamari is the best in the city. My husband swears by the lobster bisque! Some standout main dishes: paella for sure & the filet mignon is #chefskiss (still dreaming about this!). The kids love the garlic chicken. They have a vegan menu (which we didn't sample but love that they have that option) & catered to our gluten intolerant friend. Prices are very reasonable for the quality. Pour une journée bien ensoleillée, mon chéri a décidé qu'on allait déguster une bonne paella & quelle excellente idée ! ☀? Le plat était savoureux, bien garni & parfaitement assaisonné. Le service était chaleureux & attentionné, & la terrasse vraiment agréable pour profiter du beau temps. Une belle ambiance, un goût d'Espagne en plein coeur de Montréal 🇪🇸 Je recommande sans hésiter !

If you're in Montreal, do yourself a favor & head straight to Casa Galicia. Without a doubt, it was the highlight of my trip. From the out-of-this-world mussels to the lobster & seafood paella, & the 10/10 tableside espresso martini hand-shaken by the incredible owner, David-everything was top-notch! When we couldn't decide on dessert, David took it a step further & created a dessert tasting board so we wouldn't miss a thing.
David & Fiero went above & beyond to make us feel like part of their family. The service was truly one of the best I've ever experienced! The flamenco performance added the perfect touch to the lively, fun atmosphere, making for an unforgettable evening. The cozy, welcoming vibe, delicious food, & amazing drinks are something you absolutely have to experience for yourself!!
I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town. Huge thanks to David & Fiero for such a memorable night! ❤?

Dear Montreal, I don't usually make google reviews often however from my experience tonight, I made sure I had to make one for Casa Galicia! This was NOT written by ChatGPT!
We ordered the paella, the mussels, the lobster soup & a couple drinks for the table. The food was absolutely amazing! While we were waiting for the food to come out, we were delighted with an amazing guitarist & dancer. The atmosphere was so captivating that I could see everyone's eyes locked onto the stage. Also the desserts were fantastic too! We had the house cake & Portuguese tarts!
Lastly & most importantly, the service is what stood out the most. Every server was fantastic & treated us like family. We were able to meet David the wonderful & extremely kind owner of the restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in MONTREAL. Thank you, what a night to remember.
