Casa Galicia has been a staple of Spanish cuisine in Montreal since 1977. Founded by Laurentino Oliveira and still proudly family-run, the tradition continues today with Jorge Oliveira and David Oliveira at the helm.
Recognized as one of the best Spanish restaurants in North America, Casa Galicia specializes in authentic Galician cuisine, offering classic dishes like paella, zarzuela, and a variety of regional specialties. Guests can pair their meals with a refreshing pitcher of sangria considered among the best in Montreal, or explore the restaurant’s unique wine cellar, featuring reserve wines from Spain’s most prestigious winemaking regions.
The warm and welcoming atmosphere, friendly service, and distinctive décor make every visit memorable. On weekends, the experience is elevated with live flamenco performances, including a professional Spanish guitarist, bringing a touch of Spain’s vibrant culture to the heart of the city.

Great evening with live music & Flamenco.
Great food. Had the Seafood Paella with the Lobster for 2. Great wine recommendation from our great server Gino.
It's our 2nd time there & this was even better
Service & food was excellent. However the lobster bisque was somewhat watery & bland. The seafood grill platter for two was just amazing. Other gusets ordered the filet mignon & it was very tasty & done to perfection. Will surely go back!

Restaurant Galicia displays an authentic decor & soft Spanish music. We were two couples who went for dinner on a Thursday evening. We ordered a variety of tapas, the shrimps (with tomatoes) were tasty, the fried calamares less so, patatas bravas were good & spicy. Our table ordered three different paellas & the chef was kind enough to accommodate allergies & excluding from one of the paellas some seafood, at out request. The paellas were good, but the lobster was not very tender. One person ordered a grilled fish that turned out to be excellent, moist, crisp outside. Large sangria jar. Food portions were generous. Service was very slow, despite the limited number of guests on that day, & we waited a long time between tapas & paellas, ending up eating a lot of bread, & thus feeling less hungry when the main course arrived. The restaurant has an interesting flamenco show on weekends which gives more authenticity to the place. Difficult to park (October 2021, many constructions around). The restaurant has put in place all adequate measures against COVID-19.
Excellent seafood. Excellent paella. The owner & the staff are very charismatic. The only thing that was missing was the flamenco show. Very cozy & I highly recommend for people that live in the city & for tourists.
Paellas are amazing, seafood is good, dessert is ok. The Flaminco was amazing! a great experience & everything felt very authentic. Highly recommend visiting for the experience & the paellas.
We ordered the paella with the seafood & lobster everything in that paella was over cooked the fish was all dry just awful!!' Also the entree of snails for 12$ is a real scam these tiny escargot wondering what is up with that,
I would not recommend this pricey restaurant for their over cooked food!!!
This is a long-established place that has proved itself over 40 years. It is not trendy, noisy, crowded, hurried or overpriced. Its decor is a bit dated & clichéd, but it gets the important stuff right. We had the table d'hôte: gaspacho & lobster bisque to start, main courses seafood paella & cazuela, a good albarino, followed with dessert & coffee = $150. Good homestyle cooking---une cuisine honnête!---fresh ingredients, seasoned experience, no fuss & no pretension, friendly & attentive service.

My wife & I ordered the "Valenciana Discovery Menu" for two. We are both lovers of good food & wine & we were not disappointed. The octopus salad was amazing. Followed by a plate of seafood tapas & chorizo. All very good. The last dish was a seafood paella which was the best paella we've ever had. The waiter suggested a really good wine to make the whole meal as close to perfect as you can get. Highly recommend this place.
Great food. We were two, but I'd go with a crowd. You have to be a seafood lover, the dishes are mostly seafood or fish. You won't be disappointed. A-1.
We came from Ottawa to Montreal for a special weekend, & we chose Casa Galicia (1) because it was authentically Spanish, & we had previously traveled to Spain & loved the cuisine & We plan to return to Casa Galacia on another occasion. wines, & (2) friends from Ottawa had previously eaten there & loved it & recommended it to us. We found the interior colorfully decorated in authentic Spanish tradition, We found the staff very welcoming, & they seated us where we could see the dance show during dinner. This dinner show was composed of a guitarist & a flamenco dancer, both excellent, & with may acclamations of Olé from the dinner guests & rounds of applause! I ordered a dish of Andalusian Gazpacho & it was delicious, with lots of garlic in it. The bread was spicy & tasty. We ordered traditional Spanish Paella, mixed seafood & meat. It was served hot & was delicious. The volume was enough for two persons & we could not finish our plates, & so resolved to order one dish of Paella for two persons next time, We also ordered two glasses the famous Rioja red wne at $16 per glass, & it was full bodied & delicious, worth every penny! We were too full to order dessert, but next time would order the Catalan Cream. I ordered a glass of the house Sangria, & it was fruity & delicious. Staff were extremely friendly & helpful. There is limited on street parking, so best to take cab or walk. We parked two blocks away under a municipal library. St. Denis & Sherbrooke is a popular evening area, & quite safe, lots of people walking on a Friday evening. We will definitely return to Casa Galicia, & we will tell our friends about this wonderful little Spanish.
Certainly the best Spanish restaurant in Montreal. Their choices of seafood, the freshness & cooking experience makes this place a must for seafood lovers & more. The service of the experienced staff, the quality of the food, & the Mediterranean atmosphere make this place a jewel to cherish for a long time.

Great restaurant; The food was A1 especially the gazpacho soup, lobster bisque & the seafood paella. Great decor .... one fills they are really in northwestern Spain. The service was right on ... professional. We will be back!
Was pleasantly surprised after all the bad/average reviews. We had the Valenciana Discovery Menu & it turned out it wasn't that pricey - they are VERY generous with the portions... tip: don't eat too much of the yummy crusty bread otherwise you won't be able to fit it all in! The highlight was all the seafood - octopus, squid & the paella were all grilled to perfection. Even though it is pricey, I have to say, it was so good, we'll be back again. The ambiance was also fantastic on a Saturday night with the flamenco guitar & dancing. Lots of people having birthdays & the staff would present a (delicious) cake each time. Very friendly too. Highly recommended!
