Capisco delivers a delightful Italo-Peruvian fusion that makes bold flavors feel approachable, with standout dishes like ceviche, lasagna, brisket lomosaltado and a variety of shared plates that showcase both traditions. The atmosphere mixes cozy, retro charm with a lively Old Montreal vibe, and the cocktails are frequently praised for creativity and balance. Service is consistently friendly and attentive, guiding guests through a diverse menu and ensuring drinks and courses arrive with care. Portions are generous and the overall value is appreciated, though a few busy nights may bring slower service or signature items being sold out. This combination of inventive cooking, pleasing presentation, and welcoming hospitality tends to leave guests eager to return and explore more of the menu.
I wish I could give this restaurant a higher rating. Unfortunately, our first visit on New Year's Eve was disappointing. We waited quite a long time before anyone came to take our order, & the service felt a bit disorganized with different servers coming to our table.
We were told that two of the main highlights of the special menu were already unavailable: the pulpo as an appetizer & the arroz con mariscos as a main. Our reservation was at 8:30 p.m., so it was frustrating that these signature dishes were already sold out, especially knowing the restaurant was fully booked & offering a limited New Year's menu.
The waitress was kind & apologetic, & management tried to offer a tiradito instead of the main dish, but as this is normally an appetizer & much less expensive, it did not feel like an equivalent replacement. They also offered us a shot at the end, which was appreciated, though it was something many guests received due to the occasion.
That said, the restaurant itself is beautiful, the staff is friendly, & the food we did have was delicious. We especially enjoyed the pork carpaccio & the braised lomo saltado. While the prices are quite high for the portions, this is understandable given the location in Old Port.
Overall, it's a lovely place with great potential, but better planning & organization on busy nights like New Year's Eve would make a big difference in the experience.
Came for an early dinner. Had a mix of small plate dishes plus soup & pork sandwich. Just wow. What a pleasant surprise. Top notch whiskey cocktail too.
They call themselves an Italo-Peruvian restaurant but I see a French influence too.

Really nice food. A little confusing because we don't know much about Peruvian food (however there are Italian dishes too). all the Peruvian food was excellent, fresh & delicious. Halibut ceviche, pork in tuna sauce with truffle peach, seafood paella … all amazing & unique to my palette. .
What a unique gem of a restaurant find this is, & in Old Montreal no less. We are definitely in the age of blending cuisines, so Capisco perfectly enhances today's foodie couture with a wonderful Peruvian/ Italian fusion. So creative, so modern.
We were just before the busy crowd, so we were treated to being served by the owner. He told us some fascinating facts about Peruvian cuisine, & described how it can be thoughtfully incorporated into Italian cuisine (& vice versa). Our group shared 5 dishes & every one was so flavourful & beautifully presented. Total wow factor!
I can't wait to try this restaurant again, next time I'm in Montreal.
Not only was the food absolutely delicious, but the staff were also incredibly kind & welcoming. I enjoyed every bite of the dishes I tried, & the warm, inviting atmosphere made the entire experience even more enjoyable!
I seriously can not say enough good things about this restaurant. We were visiting from Toronto as a table of 4. We have eaten in many top restaurants around the globe to include Michelin star restaurants & I have NEVER had a server share the details of the menu with such passion. Hands down Olivia is a hidden gem within this industry. The food OMG ! Sooooo good !! We ate family style & tried a total of 7 dishes. Each dish including the small plates was enough for 4 -5 people to share. I strongly recommend sharing family style so you have the opportunity to try the menu selection. As for the price we thought this was also very reasonable as there was bottle of wine shared & 5 cocktails.
Capisco is your best bet on rue St Paul. It has charm, the friendliest staff, & of course, some of the best food in Old Montreal. If just reading off the menu wasn't enough.. & it's not, the dishes are rather unique, they're delicious with some tantalizing flavours, the plating is on point, with creative cocktails. It's a welcome experience, for Old Montreal.. or New!! Inside or patio, indulge in some of the finest. Highly recommend.

Great Atmosphere with even even greater food! The Peru/Italian fusion is a work of magic. From the look of the restaurant to the waiters & dishes everything was excellent. Highly recommend.
Very interesting & delicious peruvian/italian dishes in Montreal! I tried the capelottis of aji de gallina in huancaina sauce, the recommendation of the chef, the arancinis of duck & huancaina sauce, some lucuma ice cream & the classic pisco sour, it does not appear in the menu but just ask in the bar & also a passion fruit pisco sour! Cozy & welcoming environment & attentive staff, totally recommended spot! Just 4 stars because as a peruvian, I like bigger portions of food 😅
We had a great experience in this new restaurant! At first I was skeptic of a fusion between Peruvian & Italian food, but I must admit they achieve it perfectly & very creatively too; the Tiradito Capresse is a great proof of that. They also have some traditional Peruvian dishes like Pan Con Chicharrón which I cannot recommend enough.
Something else that pleased me a lot is that although it is around the same price point as Tiradito, I found the servings to be much more generous here. You can easily order for 2 people with $100 (not accounting for drinks)
Incredible dining experience from A-Z. We went as a group of 5 & both the service & food were impeccable. We let the staff pick out the menu for us & we were not disappointed. All 14 dishes selected stood out from one another & nothing felt out of place. Great food, great wine, will be back.
