Timeout market stall: not worth it due to price & fixed menu.
Very expensive:
Youll need to add more chicken because the portion is laughable. Extra chicken (~1/2 cup white meat) will cost you 9$.
Fixed menu:
'Can I please swap rice for quinoa? Ill pay the difference.' -me
'No' (said with a smile & no reason why). -Campo cashier
^ this was the last straw for me 🤣 so many other options at timeout market.
Great dining experience: Attentive service, really tasty Portuguese chicken, a nice crisp salad, reasonably priced draft beer. Not a massive portion of chicken, but it was enough for me.
Great small & cozy restaurant, conveniently has a TV to watch hockey games. It's not too loud. We were able to have a conversation while eating & watching. Food is great. Chicken wings are tasty & crispy. Very reasonable price & service is nice too. Definitely recommend!
We had a wonderful experience at Camp Poulet Portugais with their table d'hôte.
The appetizer selection was excellent; chips, chicken wings, croquettes, grilled chouriço, & olives were all full of flavor. For the main course, the chicken was incredibly tender & delicious, but the real highlight for us were the ribs; absolutely the star of the plate.
The sides were just as good: the salad was fresh & the fries were perfectly done. Portions were very generous as well.
For dessert, both Natas & brownies were top-notch & ended the meal on a perfect note.
Overall, a great dining experience with very friendly service. It was a bit slow, but the restaurant was very busy, so it was understandable. We really enjoyed our visit & would definitely come back.
Amazing chicken & food! Only thing I'd say is the peri peri sauces (which is really nice!) on the table are almost all empty. Maybe check them regularly to top up.
$22 for a tiny piece of chicken, a few potatoes & they forgot the salad too, didn't get a chance to go back for it so now it's the tiniest overpriced lunch ever.
I've officially given up. I've ordered three times, & they managed to forget the sauce (the one thing they're known for) every single time. My latest order was essentially a bag of missing items: no fries, no side salads, & they even managed to send a chicken salad without the chicken. It's a toss-up whether the kitchen or the delivery is more disorganized, but after giving them plenty of'redemption' opportunities, I'm out.
We ordered from timeout. The poutine was cold. Fries are too salty. Chicken is tasteless. I told the cashier about it & they were just in shock & did nothing
Ordered the chicken plater with potatoes & fries. The portions are very good but I expected more flavour. Good quality of ingredients. The ceaser is not good, one of the worst i ever tasted. Maybe i was just unlucky this day. Idk...
most of the food is good, but the fries were way too soggy & oily, so much so that each fry was literally bursting oil in my mouth when i was eating it. very unpleasant & i honestly couldn't eat the fries. Chicken is still delicious & good, but a bit underflavored compared to other Portuguese chicken spots.
Also, I wish they could bring back the taro protein bowl. it was the best thing on their menu
Both the bowl & the poutine were fantastic. The Portuguese chicken flavor really stood out & was clearly high quality. There can be a bit of a lunchtime rush, but the lines move quickly.
The restaurant has an interesting concept & it wasn't clear when we walked in if they offered dine in or take out. No one was there to greet us at the door. The kitchen/counter is level below & we had literally go to find the waitress & ask her to serve us… other than that, their 3 course tasting menu is amazing. Unlimited side dishes & an opportunity to taste all the best dishes on their menu. I personally found the ribs to be a tougher side but the chicken was perfectly tender. For 27$ each, it's a steal!
Most of the authentic Portugese churrasqueira places are huddled around the Plateau or more north than that, so Campo fills an open niche for downtown dining. This restaurant is perfectly located for an office lunch break, the casual settings allow you to get in/out at your own pace as the food is served very swiftly. The chicken was of great quality, the sauce wasn't exactly hittin but still some great meat. The sides were enjoyable too.
The chicken, while fairly good, seemed not as good as Nando's. The cooking left it dry in places. The sides: poutine, salad, & coleslaw were ok, while the Portguese potatoes were quite good. Staff was amiable.
Best restaurant downtown for a quick satisfying lunch, or after work dinner take-out- has been my go-to for chicken salads the last several years.
Sandra & her family have been serving some of the best & haute-est cuisine in Quebec for decades. We are so lucky to have the best chicken right here in such a beautifully run little spot. Obrigado!!
After so much exciting news of this fairly new restaurant I was looking forward to tasting its Portugais chicken. After all, being part of the acclaimed Ferreira Café it should be a slam dunk. Sorry, it was one of the worst restaurant experiences of all time. Ordered 1/4 chicken, potatoes roasted under to dripping fat of the birds, sides of cole slaw & Caesar salad & everything was Terrible. Chicken was dry & stringy, potatoes were hard & had no taste. Salads were an after thought. I was blown away by just how bad this dining experience was. Bye the way, the place was empty & the music was so loud that I could not talk to my guest. Sorry, I don't normally post reviews but Campo is terrible.
Pretty tasty chicken. We were just passing by & decided to walk in & glad we did. You can sit down or takeout at the restaurant, we decided to sit down.
We ordered the'table d'hôte' which was a great way to try a lot of menu items. It was quite filling & we had to get half of the food packed along with the dessert.
The chicken was nice a juicy & their bbq sauce was very delicious. It had a nice tangy & smoky flavour. I also really liked the croquettes & olives. The ribs fell off the bone.
Would definitely eat here again! Also love the logo… so cute!
My wife & I have been going around Montreal trying Portuguese chicken & Campo was a little disappointing.
I took the chicken sandwich & upon the first bite I got a hard piece of cartilage that kind of made me loose my appetite.
The potatoes were extremely dry & hard.
The wait was over 15 minutes but they added in an extra Nata to apologize for the wait time.
I think for the price, it was not really worth it.
Romado's is still the best in my opinion.
