-food were fresh & good enough
-waiters were really nice & try to do their best
-the decorations is really nice & warm

-first off we booked a table & when we got there there was no table available so we had to sit at the bar 🙁
-service is disorganized, definitely not short staff & yet not a smooth flow.
- food was correct , it was warm & fresh but i expected more flavor in my food especially with such a small menu.
-food was so not impressive i did not try their dessert but after appetizers & tacos i wasn't expecting much from the dessert section
- mocktail was good, well balance but 75% of it was ice 🧊
Overall not a bad experience, if you like more fancy vibe & cocktail it's not a bad choice.
However if you rather find a good & simple mexican restaurant there is better place within montreal.Voir plus
Excellent service. Our waitress was very polite, patient & explained the menu very well. We ate on the patio & it was great. Lots of room & not over crowded like some other patios. The food was'meh' . We ordered 3 different tacos & tried all the appetizers. The best one was the TORITO DE CHORIZO, then BARRIGA CONFITADA. As for the tacos, the fish is the bestVoir plus
Quality food with attention to detail & good principles.
The pork belly was extremely good, the tacos I tried were upscaled & delicious. Definitely what I would expect from taking street food & turning it into fancy cooking. Will not disappoint.
I did not care that much for the white chocolate dessert (that is mostly on me, I am not a fan of white chocolate) & the creme brulee was good but not mind blowing.
The drinks felt expensive. But aren't they always in Montreal.

Stopped in for dinner last night & had an overall great experience.
Cocktails were unique & tasty & the cod & pork tacos were incredible. The homemade tortillas were also a really great touch. The menu is limited- wish there were more options to pick from.
Service was a bit all over- the place was busy so servers were a little inconsistent but they were extremely friendly.

Atmosphere was great, really nice lighting & vibes. The waiter brought all our food at once even after asking for the apps to come first but otherwise good service. The food was pretty bland, which was surprising because places with smaller menus tend to have very powerful dishes. My friend took a fish taco, which leaves much to be desired. There wasn't enough sauce & it was missing a lot of flavour. I had the tacos al pastor which was good but not worth the price. Appetizers were okay. Overall an okay restaurant.Voir plus
J'ai adoré ma soirée au Caifan, l'ambiance & le service étaient supers, & la nourriture succulente. À 4, nous avons partagé les 3 entrées du menu, 4 sortes de tacos & un dessert. Tout était excellent. Une belle découverte!Voir plus
Pedi con mi pareja los 5 servicios y empezamos bien con el pozole de mariscos, pero realmente las cantidades eran muy poco, el popper de camarón fabuloso pero muy pequeno, lo que realmente me disgustó fue la costra de queso que se tuvo que dividir en dos, así que realmente no fueron 5 platillos por persona.
Los tacos eras 2 pequenos de pastor completamente llenos de cuero y muy poca carne y muy salados.
Tenia expectativas de este restaurante realmente altas, pero me desepcionaron, muy caro por $190 e irnos inconformes
De las cosas muy buenas que tengo que decir :
los 2 chicos que están en el bar son súper amables y atentos 10/10
Y sus cócteles son muy ricos. 10/10

Wow guys seriously this place is a hidden gem! Tacos were great! But we sat at the bar & the 2 bartenders Fabio & Jose were mastering their craft. These guys are not bartenders they are artists. Prices were acceptable & restaurant design is inviting. We loved it. SaludVoir plus
I ate at Caifan many years ago, & I seem to recall it was a small joint with a few tables & a very authentic menu. The tacos were so delicious. So, I thought maybe they renovated & was excited to give it another try. Based on what I experienced, I'm not sure they are affiliated at all. Let's start with the good: 1) the drinks were delicious. 2) the servers were very kind & attentive 3) our jalapeno & pork belly appetizers were yummy. The not-so-good: 1) For a place that specializes in tacos, & considering there are a small number on the menu, I expected them to have more complexity & flavour. Were it just that, I would probably have given four stars. But all of our tacos were really salty! Everyone in our dinner party said the same thing.Voir plus

Am excellent discovery! Lovely atmosphere & tasty food that was beautifully presented. The scallop dish & the white chocolate dessert were exceptional. I would have appreciated a little wedge of lime to accompany the tacos. Service was a bit uneven as I waited over ten minutes for one dish while my fellow diner ate. My husband & I went to Caifan for dinner on a Thursday evening just after arriving into Montreal (we drove, so we were tired of being in the car & were really hungry). The staff was friendly & welcoming when we arrived & we were quickly shown to our table (we did have a reservation). Our server came to the table shortly after we sat down & took our drink orders, I had the Cubanita & my husband had the Valdiosera, both cocktails were fantastic. For an appetizer, we had the octopus tostada which was good, the sauce overpowered the octopus a little & it was just a touch overcooked, but not horribly. We then had two types of tacos, the gobernador & arrachera, both were tasty, but we liked the arrachera just a little better. The beef was so flavorful & all the toppings on the taco complemented the meat perfectly. The gobernador tacos were good, but they were a little light on the shrimp so there were more toppings/sauces than actual shrimp. We also had the cochinita pibil wrapped in cheese with black bean puree & all sorts of toppings/sauces. It was absolutely the best thing we had all evening. The meat was tender & had so much flavor, all the sauces were wonderful & the toasty cheese around the outside of the meat was nutty & had great texture. For dessert, our server recommended the Lokito, which was white chocolate in the shape of an ear of corn filled with corn cream & it also had pumpkin ganache & tajin. At first I thought the tajin was a little strange on a dessert but by after a few bites I really appreciated the tanginess & spice it brought to the dish. Our server was very patient with us not speaking French & did the best she could to communicate with us (we did a lot of pointing at the menu to order, which worked just fine). She kept our water glasses full & we never had to wait very long for anything. Overall, we would be happy to return & enjoyed our experience!Voir plus
If it was not for the extremely slow & inattentive service, I would have given it a four. Food was decent with the empanada, beef & al astor taco. Only didn't like skimp tacos. But was hard to fully enjoy at the slow pace of each item arriving. There was one staff, gentleman with tattoos & an apron, that seemed like the only one that cared about his service.Voir plus

I recently came here with a group of 8. We all had really high expectations based on the amazing reviews. Unfortunately most of us were pretty disappointed. On the plus side, the cocktails were really good, our serveur was nice despite things being really slow, one person in our group really enjoyed the quesadillas, & there was a DJ playing good music which created a nice vibe. On the downside, the tacos were really saucy & overloaded making the tortillas soggy & broken, so they were hard to eat. The batter on the fish tacos was soggy & not crispy. They don't offer any guacamole & chips which is really uncommon for a Mexican restaurant serving tacos. Finally, one of the desserts was pictured as having a crispy taco shell & it came with something soft & completely different than was described.Voir plus

I've been to Caifan twice now & will definitely be returning. No question that these are the best tacos I've personally ever had in Montreal. Everything is made fresh & the meat in the tacos is so juicy. If you get anything here, you must try to Arrachera steak tacos - they will blow your mind. Service is great, dishes are a little pricy but everything is these days so I don't mind it as much when the quality of food is so great! Appetizer: - Torito de Chorizo: 10/10. A must try! Tacos: - Arrachera: 1000/10! If you taste any tacos here let it be these ones. The most juicy & flavourful tacos I've ever had. - Al Pastor: 10/10. Amazing, so well seasoned & authentic! Al Pastor tacos are my favourite ever & these were the best I've had. Quesadillas: - Gobernador: 7/10. Definitely more stewy than I thought it'd be but still really tasty. The chunks of shrimp were large & they did not skimp out on that. Desserts: - El Tropical: 7/10. Kind of like a key lime cannoli. It was tasty but I much preferred the below dessert on my second visit! - El Lokito: 9/10. Small but delicious & such unique flavours. The server was a very lovely lady. I wish I asked her name. She is very knowledgeable to the menu. My friend & I were there at 5:30pm on Monday. It hasn't got too busy, so it was great for us to catch up. The menu is well labeled. I had the TORITO DE CHORIZO. It was not as spicy as I thought it would be. I will try to vegan version. I can't recommend this place. We're vegetarian & we're pleased to see a lot of options for us on the menu. We had the fried, stuffed jalapeno which was great. The vegan chorizo am tacos & the zucchini tacos were pretty terrible. Bland, greasy with minimal garnish, no hot sauce (!) on the tacos or available on the table. The interior design was pleasant but there was no vibe. No ambiance. Our server was a little too overbaring & just hung around our table, seemingly waiting for something to do throughout most of our meal. It felt very awkward. Go to Tin Tan instead. It's walking distance from this place with way better food, great service & a fun vibe.Voir plus

I had the pleasure of going to Caifan with my two best friends for a little birthday dinner! We had already been at Piel Canela for their brunch menu & absolutely loved it. & so, we wanted to try Caifan for their dinner menu. We ordered three dishes to share-Pollo El Salsa, Taco de Res, & Taco Rosarito-& they did not disappoint, so savoury & satisfying that only a picture of the desserts was taken, which were also so delicious! I especially loved the El Tropical 👌🏼 From the music to the atmosphere & the friendly staff, I would definitely recommend & come back! 🥂 I must say, I have been to all of the restaurants of this chain & salute you! I came here as a party of 6 & had some great food! We ordered many dishes from the recommendation of our waitress who did a great job of bringing us a variety of what the menu had to offer. My favorite dishes were the octopus, the fish tacos & the giant loin piece. The other dishes were good too, but didn't impress as much as the ones mentioned above. My biggest issue with the restaurant was the pace at which the food came out. It made it so that no one was eating at the same time as the other. Some friends got their food first & finished it before others' food even arrived. It was a bit awkward to have some of us waiting & watching the others eating. Overall, happy to have come. I'm not rushing to go back, but I'll give it another try at some point.Voir plus
