They have a good vibe & service
Persian Foods quality is good & fresh & they have very delicious & creative tastes of persian cocktails with out alcohol.
The atmosphere was amazing! The cafe is so beautifully decorated with Persian art & furniture. The food was so good, everything was insanely aromatic. The tea is absolutely wonderful: perfect flavour & perfect presentation. The service was impeccable. The whole place feels very welcoming.
This is my favorite Persian restaurant in Montreal. I just love everything about it.
Kind staff, delicious food, amazing vibes.
This Persian café feels like home. The food is delicious & comforting, just like homemade dishes. The brunch is always amazing, & the teas are truly exceptional. A cozy spot that keeps you coming back.
Fast (10min) delicious food with nice presentation in a pretty atmosphere (relaxing clean terrace, welcoming & sweet staff). Couldn't ask for a more ideal lunch break. I had the eggplant ragout (Fessenjan) & I plan on coming back to try more vegetarian options :) the first time I stepped in here just to look at the menu, the woman at the counter gave me a yummy Persian smoothie sampler. They have vegan gluten-free pastries.
Edit/ returned to try the kashkbademjan, another eggplant & yogurt dish, & it was incredible. Came back again to have the smoked eggplant omelette with the parfumerie de la vie tea & it was really nice. Sekanjebine & concombre drink was really good. Matcha smoothie was good. I had the do piazeh (potato dish) recently & it was delish. The berry pistachio omelette was simple but well done with subtle Persian flavour. Will defs keep coming back. Came back & had the smoked eggplant omelette & it was so good!
We tried the lamb shank & fesenjoon at Café Toranj & really enjoyed our meal. The lamb shank was good, tender, & nicely cooked. The highlight for us was the fesenjoon, which was amazing. It had the perfect balance of sweet & sour flavors, rich & comforting, just the way traditional fesenjoon should taste. Overall, a very satisfying experience & a great place for Persian food.
We had lunch at this café & really enjoyed it. The coolest part was the unique main dishes on the menu. Even as a persian, it was my first time trying Gham-bar Polo Shirazi, & I loved the slightly sweet taste. Gheimeh Nesar was another great choice. The main dishes also come with a small yogurt on the side.
Excellent & delicious Persian food & tea! Good service with a pleasantly warm atmosphere. I highly recommend.
I visited Café Toranj with my mom, & it was our very first experience with Persian cuisine. The food was absolutely exquisite - full of flavor & beautifully presented. The service was outstanding, attentive without being intrusive, & the ambience of the restaurant made the whole evening feel special. I highly recommend Café Toranj & look forward to returning often!
I had a mixed experience in this restaurant & actually thought that I will not write this review. Because of the several negative comments concerning the bad service I thought that I would like to share my story.
We were happy to enter the cafe. The staff seemed to be friendly & both gave us a table quickly & took up our order quite quickly as well. The interior of the cafe made us feel comfortable & relaxed.
While we were eating the food (most of it was quite good, except of the mirza ghasemi, which tasted odd because they probably barbecued the eggplant) we heard that one of the waiters was speaking about us.
She was commenting on how much we were eating & if we really want to eat even more or if we are going to explode soon. Then she started laughing & continued to comment on us & laughed again. Maybe she forgot that we also speak Persian & could understand what she was saying to her friend?
My wife then got upset & after we payed the bill she decided to confront her. The waiter acted as if she didn't know what we meant, but it didn't seem credible to be honest. We apologised & left.
The owner of the restaurant listened to the whole thing & then followed us on the street & asked what was wrong. He listened & apologised & didn't seem surprised about his wife's behaviour. He seemed to be an extremely nice & honourable person to be fair.
What I also found quite unprofessional was that many people were waiting to be seated or to place an order while she was sitting besides some guests & making plans about her weekend. Some people came & ordered at the counter then.
I don't know if I recommend going. They have vegetarian & vegan options which are rare to find in Persian restaurants. But if you go out to have a nice time you don't want something like that to happen. Decide for yourself what you think is tolerable to you.
I would probably give this cafe another chance because the owner seems to be a kind & honest person. I am somehow also leaving this comment so that these kind of things do not happen again because I wish these guys all the best for creating such a place away from home.
Amazing place. I've tried many Persian restaurants in Toronto & Halifax but this place is something else. They offer Amazing authentic persian food that are rare to find. Great presentation & refreshing authentic drinks. Highly suggested.
Absolutely delicious food! The flavors were rich & authentic, & everything was so fresh. The saffron cake was incredibly moist & full of flavor - paired perfectly with the tea. The service was also wonderful - warm, attentive, & welcoming. Toranj is a great spot for anyone craving quality Persian cuisine. Highly recommend!
We visited this Iranian brunch spot & had a great experience. The place was cozy & welcoming, & the food was fresh & well-prepared.
We tried two dishes:
Nashtaei 2 - A mix of potato pudding (Do Piazeh), lentil soup, a Persian-style omelette, & pinto beans, served with tea or coffee. Everything was flavorful & comforting.
Nashtaei 3 - A savory plate with sausage & tomato mixture (Bandari), boiled eggs, potato pudding (Do Piazeh), & pinto beans, also paired with tea or coffee.
The service was friendly & excellent, & the restaurant had a relaxed atmosphere & cozy ambience.
One thing we missed was the saffron ice cream, but we'll definitely be back to try it.
If you enjoy good food with rich flavors, this place is worth a visit! Highly recommended.
It was my first time trying persian food. What a great discovery. Every dish is an explosion of flavors & the staff is friendly
Tasty Persian food & generous portions.
I enjoyed the lentils soup & the beef & eggplant stew served with saffron rice.
I do wish they had some sort of appetizers so that we can sample more dishes & flavors.
Seems like all the portions are fairly large.
Service was quick, decor is cute.
Was greeted with a huge smile by a sweet Persian lady. Highly recommended
Unique spot, incredible food, the Persian omelette was like no egg dish I've ever had before. Very welcoming, cozy, neighborhood, artsy vibe. Staff had the right balance of serving you & leaving you be. Books abound if you like reading with your meal. Brunch served til 4pm every day. Highly recommended.
My visit to Toranj Café was exceptional. The Persian ambiance, warm hospitality, & stunning presentation made the experience unforgettable. The dishes were not only visually appealing but packed with flavor-standouts included the Fesenjoon with pomegranate & walnut sauce, & the crispy tahdig rice. Every dish was seasoned to perfection & beautifully plated. The staff were attentive & offered great recommendations, making the meal even more enjoyable. If you're looking for authentic Persian cuisine in Montreal, Toranj Café is the place to go. Highly recommended!
Really delicious & simple meals that come out in style. I tried the Gheimeh Nesar Ageau which is a lamb rice plate with middle eastern dried fruits & spices. It was really fresh & tasted homemade. Not too strong of a flavor, it was delicious though. & then i also tried for the first time a saffron decaf latte with soy milk. It was a bit earthier & richer taste them coffee on is own. It just masked all the sweetness & made the coffee taste more mature to my palette. It was really good! This Iranian/Persian cafe is beautifully designed & perfect for hanging out or a date & to have Turkish coffee, tea, share plates & desserts & more. One small note is that there is some cleaning that could be done & service is not so attentive... you will have to get up & ask to be waited on. Also, plates are a bit pricey, but they are filling. My plate could've fed two easily.
Had heard a lot about this place, known for the best persian food in the area. The chicken rice dish is supposed to be the most famous, so we tried that, & the eggplant platter, which was okay. But the bread that came along was really tasty. We did find the yogurt sauce with rice was less, & when we asked for more, they didn't have it. Overall, it was an amazing experience, will definitely go again.
