About

Café ORR focuses on a plant-forward menu that centers on artisanal sandwich preparation and fresh vegetable-based compositions. The kitchen utilizes seasonal produce to construct hearty, layered sandwiches served on house-baked breads that emphasize texture and structural integrity. Vegan options populate the primary offerings, ensuring that diverse dietary preferences remain integrated into every aspect of the culinary design. The space functions as an informal hub characterized by straightforward preparation techniques and a functional layout intended for quick access. Ingredients prioritize local harvest cycles to maintain consistency across the rotating selection of handheld meals. This establishment provides a focused approach to vegetarian fare by stripping away unnecessary complexity in favor of reliable, nutrient-dense preparations that highlight the inherent quality of each raw vegetable component provided within the daily lineup.

Review Summary

Café ORR is widely celebrated for its unique, artistic, and cozy atmosphere, making it a popular destination for working, studying, or socializing late into the evening. While the eclectic decor and creative vibe are frequently praised as major highlights, experiences with the coffee and food are mixed, ranging from spectacular to underwhelming for some visitors. The staff generally receives positive feedback for being friendly and helpful, although service speed and occasional order accuracy can vary. A recurring point of contention among patrons is the volume of the music, which some find perfect for the environment while others struggle to work or converse due to its intensity. Despite these differing opinions on noise and culinary consistency, many customers consider it an iconic and essential spot in Montreal that maintains a distinct, character-filled identity.

The music is too loud. It feels like a night club.

Really great cafe. Nice atmosphere, bric-à-brac decor, friendly counter service, pleassant music. Good place to work or just hang.

I love this place. It used to be my favourite cafe to study in last semester. Super warm & cozy. But now every time I come the music is blasting. It's hard to have a conversation & it's even harder to study, & this comes from someone who loves to study in noisy spots. Now it's just a little overwhelming. Ig I'll wait for it's calm era to come back.

I want to love this place but the music being blasted constantly is so loud that no combination of over ear headphones, earplugs, & noise cancelling is enough to blur it out.

It's killed it for me after several visits. Being forced to listen to it. Unable to listen to my own music. You can feel the bass in your chest. Vibrating the counter. I would take a loud drone of people talking over this any day.

The music is too loud. Please consider changing this. Or move your one massive speaker so it's far from everyone in the space.

Great spot for working during the day until late - the cafe to chill bar transition is great, & the music always rules

I hidden gem on Papineau street. Bohemian nostalgic should I say. Awesome music yet a quiet ambiance ideal for some office work. The Tintin magazine brought back childhood memories. The place sits on two floors & offers a variety of coffees, homemade bakeries plus your usual danishes, hard liquor & even beer on tap. & they also have a full menu with interesting options. The Piano sits halfway up to the mezzanine but I'm not sure if it is played but it's a nice touch. If you happen to be in the area it's worth dropping by.

I have to say that this may be my favourite cafe I have ever been to!! It is perfect in all the ways that matter to me most in a coffee shop. Really good food - I had the avocado toast & my boyfriend got a bagel (the serving size & quality ingredients match the prices - bagel was grilled with lots of cheese & avocado toast had so much avocado & delicious flavours), VERY aesthetic & cozy atmosphere, & good music. Somewhere I could really see myself hanging out/working in often, not to mention the amazing hours that are so hard to find in mtl. Wow! Can't wait to try chilling here in the late evenings! The only thing it's missing is REALLY good quality coffee & well aerated milk (that might depend on the barista & it's good enough for me to come back just wouldn't only come back for the coffee alone).
