Review Summary

Café Noya is a popular spot in Montreal known for its cozy atmosphere and quality Japanese-inspired menu, particularly its flavorful udon dishes, variety of onigiri, and matcha-based drinks. Many customers appreciate the welcoming service and find the space well-suited for both casual dining and studying, though the café frequently gets busy, which can lead to longer wait times and limited seating. While opinions on portion sizes and flavor profiles vary, with some finding specific dishes bland or overpriced and others praising the authentic taste and comforting quality, the overall consensus highlights it as a reliable destination for a quick, satisfying meal or a refreshing beverage.

The chicken katsu onigiri is a nice addition to the menu, the meat is so good I need more!! The homemade matcha cookie was lovely too. It had the right level of sweetness.

However, service was extremely slow despite being one of the few customers waiting for their order. Also, the strawberry/litchi tea was terrible 🥀

Always yummy & affordable, I wish the onigiri had a little more filling in it though ! The matcha is not very strong, kinda just tastes like milk but I liked the hot hochija. I always come when am around downtown !

The service was very friendly. The food tasted great. The pasta was really delicious, & the sauce as well. I would recommend everyone to go there.

The mushroom udon had fewer mushrooms in it than the chicken teriyaki bowl. Ordered 2 plates of gyozas both were barely warm, we asked for them to be re-heated, I had to to & check if they had reheated them & collect them, they were still barely warm, this was unfortunate as they were nice, just cold. The pistachio latte was nice, the chicken teriyaki was decent too. The basque cheesecake was average, the nicest part was the pistachio cream on top. The service was ok but they seemed a bit rushed. The food was nice but the service & food being cold & the mushroom dish having very little mushroom was disappointing for the price.

The ube latte does not taste like ube at all. I think the taste of the coffee overpowered the very week ube syrup.
Also, it does not look like the picture at all. There was no purple.
Otherwise, the coffee part is good.
The unagi onigiri was perfect. There's a 10% discount for students.

Café Noya on Peel is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots! The mango matcha & strawberry drinks are the best so far. Super refreshing & perfectly balanced.

The crème brûlée & the matcha & pistachio cheesecake are absolutely out of this world. You can really taste the quality in everything they make.

On top of that, the staff are incredibly friendly & welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. Definitely worth checking out!
