Reviews describe Café des habitudes as a warm, charming, and welcoming spot with friendly staff, cozy seating, and a homey vibe that feels inclusive for adults and kids alike, including a sunny patio and spaces that encourage reading, working, or chatting with friends. The café leans vegan and sustainable, offering great coffee, cookies, and vegan grilled cheese, with some items like the lavender latte and seasonal snacks praised, while a few comments note small portions for the price or uneven flavors in a couple of dishes. A strong community focus shines through with regular events such as open mic nights, silent discos, art workshops, and a sharing club that invites visitors to borrow items. It is repeatedly described as spacious and versatile, a family friendly haven that also works as a calm workspace, and overall a beloved neighborhood spot, though some guests would welcome more non pastry food options and more consistent meal value.
Café des Habitudes is a charming & cozy vegan café located just north of the Mile Ex & rosemont neighborhoods in Montreal.
You can street park for 60min for free.
The space itself is warm, inviting, & thoughtfully designed. There are plenty of seating options, including couches, tables, & cozy corners that make it a great place to relax or get some work done. One of the standout features is a loft-style nook with cushions where you can climb up, unwind, read, or work in a quiet setting. There is also a side door that opens onto a small patio with a few outdoor tables, perfect for enjoying fresh air on a nice day.
One unique aspect of the café is that guests are asked to remove their shoes upon entering, which adds to the comfortable & home-like atmosphere. In addition to food & drinks, they also sell a variety of items in-store, giving the space a subtle boutique feel.
The service was friendly & welcoming, making the overall experience smooth & enjoyable.
Overall, Café des Habitudes is a wonderful spot for quality pastries, good coffee or tea, & a calm, cozy environment. They only have vegan options for milk
Overrated. The coffee is acidic; the'milk' used is low quality; super basic & greenwashed establishment; try cafe Larue if you are in the area & you don't want to feel like a poser, lol

Lovely seasonal & local food, good portions, great coffee, practices zero waste. The place feels very welcoming, it feels like home & it has a space for children too. More than just a cafe, a space for community & sustainability.
We ordered 1 coffee & two lattes, one of the lattes tasted burnt the other one tasted like it had no coffee whatsoever. The coffee itself was so sour i felt like it was made with lemon juice… we needed napkins & they didnt have any. I wont be coming again ever. The only bright side was that it has a decent looking vibe & atmosphere, but the drinks were genuinely just bad.
Café des Habitudes is a super cute & cozy café located just north of Mile Ex & Little Italy Neighborhoods. I first discovered it while searching for caneles, since many reviews praised them as some of the best in Montreal. Ordering online was easy - you can select your pickup date & time - & that's how my partner & I ended up here.
The space itself is inviting & warm. There are plenty of couches, tables, & cozy seating nooks, plus a fun loft/bunk bed setup with cushions where you can climb up, relax, & read or work. There's also a side door that opens onto a small patio with a few outdoor tables, perfect for letting in the breeze on a nice day.
We picked up our caneles, which came in flavors like chocolate peanut butter, pistachio, & raspberry. Each was fresh, rich, & delicious - worth the hype. Service was equally warm & friendly, & the staff spoke English as well, which made ordering easy.
In addition to pastries, the café serves coffee & tea, making it a great spot to study, work, or simply unwind with a good book. For cozy vibes, friendly service, & excellent canele, Café des Habitudes is absolutely worth a visit.
Truly the best cafe I have ever been to. We happened to be staying in an airbnb down the block, so dipped in for a coffee-we were not disappointed! The aesthetic is stunning; I made my partner take a lot of pictures so I could try to emulate this breezy, bohemian style at home. The team members were so kind & warm, forgiving our extremely limited French. The brunch was exquisite (toast with beetroots!) & the hojicha tea latte was so good I bought a little case of hojicha powder to take home. You can just tell this place is built on love; that the founder is kind to people, & genuinely committed to doing good in this community. Even the books they have & the gorgeous pieces for sale from local artisans speak to a safe & cozy sanctuary in this wild & stormy world. I want to move to Montreal just so I can while away the hours at the Café des Habitudes!
A must visit if you're in town. It's a beautiful cafe, with lots of cozy seating options, & the vibe is unparalleled, you instantly feel welcomed, at home, & cozy. Their menu is varied, I got a hojicha cocoa & hazelnut cookie & they were absolutely delish. They also have events, merch, books, toys, you can really feel the love for the community as soon as you step in. It's my new favorite coffee shop 🤍
This is probably my new favourite cafe. Great for coworking, reading, chilling with friends etc. The coffee is good. There are lots of seating arrangements. The atmosphere is warm & welcoming. It's got everything you need!
Struggling to give it 3 stars, we're giving two. The interior decor & online pictures are great & very inviting. The coffee & matcha latte were good. We ordered canelé & grilled cheese. The grilled cheese took over 40 minutes to arrive. The clerk said they were slammed with orders & sure the place was decently filled but didn't appear to be overloaded. On a side note, it was a vegan grilled cheese & didn't taste wonderful so we left more than half. It was our mistake for not reading the vegan sandwich so that is not factored into the rating however it's our opinion.

Cool hip coffee. It feels so comfortable in this familiar environment that time passes without noticing. There are different types of living rooms for all tastes to feel like home: seat in chairs with a coffee table, on the counter, on the floor, on the couch. There are options of beverages as well as for little sweet treats to accompany the coffee. Also there is a little boutique with new products & also 2nd hand clothes. Highly recommend !
I discovered this cute place randomly one day. I always search cozy coffee shops to study & if the place is great usually they have no vegan option so when I discovered cafes des habitudes my life changed. The place is the cutes thing ever, the food is vegan & is of course delicious & it has the perfect atmosphere to study or work. I do not need to search other places because this is 100% what I was hoping to find in the last years. Also I love the fact that the products are local & there is no plastic waste :) great job! Last thing, they also have a corner with gift ideas either second hand of artisanal!
