Café Castel comes across as a bright, welcoming hub near the McGill area with large windows that lift the mood and a cozy vibe that suits studying or hanging out; the coffee is reliably good and the pastry selection is frequently fresh with crowd favorites like croissants, tiramisu and various loaves, while the ever friendly staff and occasional discounts for students add to the appeal; the space stays open later than many nearby spots and offers a lively, European feel that many visitors enjoy, though busy periods can lead to slower service and occasional lapses in table cleanliness, and a few reviews note temperature swings in the glassy sections and occasional inconsistency in desserts or drinks; overall it remains a popular go-to for a relaxed cafe experience with a strong emphasis on atmosphere and solid coffee.
Café Castle has such a relaxed, cozy vibe - the kind of place you can sit for hours without noticing the time pass. The coffee is great, the atmosphere is peaceful, & everything just feels easy. Hiba & Talia were lovely - friendly, thoughtful, & made the whole experience feel even more comfortable. It's rare to find a spot that gets both the vibe & the service just right. Will definitely be coming back.
I loved my experience at Café Castel! The vibe was cozy, the coffee was great, & the service made everything even better. Huge shoutout to Hiba, Talal, & Talia they were all so kind & welcoming. Definitely coming back soon!

Definitely one of the best coffee shops in Montreal! I love the decoration, the great coffee & the friendly service. Creates the perfect vibe for a coffee outing!
Salmon bagel is outstanding, the coffee is artisanal which i like 👍 heard they are introducing new items to the menu ,excited to see what they will come up with😍
One of my favorite cafes in the city! The staff are always warm & friendly, over time they treat you like a friend 😁
The pastries & sandwiches are fresh & delicious, & the coffee never disappoints, they have decaf coffee so you can sleep peacefully at night 😆.
I also love the big windows perfect for relaxing & watching the street.
A cozy spot I always look forward to visiting.
Pretty good coffee for a non-speciality coffee shop. I had their cinammon buns once & it was not a good experience. Probably a couple days old, very dry & quite tasteless. I have heard their sandwiches are good but haven't tried any. Pretty expensive prices overall.
It's a lovely spot. Cute & cozy, it feels like Europe! Delicious coffee, yummy sandwiches, & dessert. The three-cheese pizza features bleu cheese as one of the three cheeses. That was a little strong for me on pizza-I would not recommend it. I definitely would go back.
THIS PLACE NAILS IT WITH THEIR COFFEE!!! The beans are super fresh, & you can really taste the difference. Whether you're into espresso or a mocha, the flavors are always rich & with just the right kick. No harsh aftertaste, just clean, delicious coffee every time. The service is friendly & quick, & the pastries are the perfect complement to your brew. Highly recommend if you're serious about your coffee☕️❤️
We visited this cafe in January 2024. The weather was very cold & the cafe was cozy & warm. The owner was very attentive & nice man. We came back here again in October with warm memories of a huge cake in January, & are happy to visit again. Really cozy cafe in the center of Montreal, with delicious coffee, cake & croissant. Will definitely come back again, your guests from Calgary, Germany & Ukraine ☺️
Although the atmosphere was very good, the quality of coffee was horrible! We got a latte & a Mocha, they barely had coffee taste in it, it was like we were having hot milk & milk chocolate! So disappointed! Never go again

The place is constantly crowded, there is no sense of where to go when ordering. Nothing's labeled. The food is borderline decent, but nothing extraordinary. The tables are worn out, the cutlery is dirty. I ordered a plain croissant with ham, cheese, & lettuce. & on another occasion, an egg bagel, which was plain with next to no extra ingredients. They place the sandwiches on a Forman type grill, the presentation is lackluster, I might as well make them at home for I'm paying for. Not to mention the coffee, nearly $4 for low quality coffee, in mugs that spill whenever you drink. I went twice because I was with a group but I would never willingly go again on my own.
Perfect coffee/breakfast place ive ever had in montreal. You can see the view of the montreal streets. I ordered the café mocha & it was perfect. Only bad thing was that 5 drinks, 5 danishes were 60 dollars total with tip. Although its pretty expensive you must try!
I love having cafe latte over there, it is strong, creamy, plus one of their workers if you be lucky & be his shift ,he does a beautiful graphic on lattes that you can enjoy your cold day with a nice coffee!
