Review Summary

Café Castel offers a cozy, European inspired atmosphere in downtown Montreal that serves as an excellent spot for working, studying, or relaxing. With its bright, solarium style architecture and large windows, the space provides a beautiful and inviting setting to enjoy a variety of quality coffee, including well crafted lattes and espressos, alongside an assortment of pastries and savory items. Many guests appreciate the warm, welcoming service and the unique transition from a morning café to an evening bar offering cocktails. While experiences regarding food variety and wait times during busy periods can occasionally vary, the overall ambiance, along with the consistent quality of the drinks and the dedication of the staff, makes it a cherished destination for both locals and students looking for a memorable spot in the city.

It's more on the pricier side. Foods aren't quite fresh & the cheese cake I ordered was literally just strong cream cheese with blueberry jam on top. The Chai latte a bit diluted & lukewarm. Other than that the ambiance was quite nice & service was fairly okay.

Food is fresh but uninspired. French toast was more like bread pudding, if you're into that.

Service is friendly & quick, good people watching, interesting hacienda decor. Good coffee.

Came here for the honey cake, tastes like a factory made version. It's a no fuss café, nice seating by the window. Very Montreal.

Moi quand je vois un entrepreneur dire qui laisse la chance au humains de d'autre culture , de s'installer, d'améliorer leurs langage & de leurs offrir un travaille....t'est juste le best my friend tu mérite plus que du 5 étoile mais une couronne

A café in Montreal with a lovely view of downtown through its large glass panels & ceiling. We visited on a weekday & the queue can get long as there are only two baristas running the whole café - though we still managed to find a seat. We ordered a hot chocolate & a Brume de Castel. The drinks were okay - acceptable but nothing spectacular. You're paying more for the scenery & cozy atmosphere, which does make up for it. With plenty of natural light, it's a nice spot for catching up or getting some work/study/reading done.

A bit on the overpriced side & that's to be expected considering location

The staff were SO kind & helpful when I thought I had lost my phone. I'm so grateful for their patience, generosity, & goodwill!
Also the cafe is super cute & the drinks & pastries are excellent.

The atmosphere & overall vibe of the place are great - it has a very relaxing & comfortable feel. Unfortunately, the menu is far too limited. For someone who comes in hungry, the options are really not satisfying enough.

In a city famous for its bagels, every café should have a proper bagel section with a variety of options available throughout the day. Instead, the selection here is very shallow. Savory food options are limited & not filling, while sweet items are much more common.

The same goes for croissants - they should be available at all hours, which honestly is not difficult to manage.

My only suggestion would be to expand & enrich the menu. Especially considering the café is located right next to a school, the current menu feels surprisingly limited.

Cozy & elegant café attached to a hotel. Plenty of natural lighting.
