Café Castel is described as a warm, inviting spot that blends European charm with modern comfort, featuring bright spaces, big windows and tasteful décor that invite lingering. The coffee is consistently well received, with well made lattes, rich espressos and smooth cappuccinos accompanied by attractive latte art, and a pastry case with croissants, tiramisu and other sweet treats that pair nicely with drinks. The atmosphere is often noted for being cozy, quiet enough to work or study, yet lively enough to feel social, with friendly, attentive staff and occasional discounted moments that enhance the visit. The menu covers a range of sweet and savory options, and the space functions well as a cafe by day and a relaxed bar in the evening, making it a favorite stop for many in the area.
The cafe has a nice cozy vibe for studying or hanging out. I ordered a mocha latte but the price I paid for a medium, I expected a bit of a larger size. It's bit on the sweeter side but I like the consistency with the steamed milk. Service was alright, the guy who served me seemed a bit grumpy. At least they have a student discount which is nice.

Very cozy, a bit dark, & tad out of style. Ordered a simple chai latte, stayed for over an hour was not bothered. Someone that seemed like a teacher was correcting/ writing down stuff. Idk its giving that one line in'La Boheme'.
Intrigued enough to try it again. Might be a sublime spot if Students actually dont still know about it. The real struggle of any cafe enjoyer is needing space & the place being too popular/crowded so you cant stay too long. Idk this brought back memories.
Merci

If I could give six stars, I would ...one extra for how much my taste buds danced in confusion & delight. Cafe Castle is where coffee meets therapy & croissants meet emotional support. I ordered a latte that was so good I briefly considered proposing to the barista ...not for love, but for consistent caffeine supply.
The vibe? Somewhere between'European art student' &'I own three journals but finish none.' The food? Let's just say my plate looked like it had been through a natural disaster when I was done.
If you're in Montreal & don't go to Cafe Castle, you're doing breakfast wrong.
Really nice cafe, especially for it being attached to a hotel. For some reason, by hopes were low but my expectations were for sure exceeded. The coffee was a very reasonable price, & very delicious. The croissant was also good. Service was good, nothing incredible but nothing below good. I would be willing come back here again if I return to Montreal, & I normally don't repeat coffee shops unless the quality is incredible.
The food, drinks & ambiance are very nice, & it's right downtown, so super convenient to work/study at. I really enjoy the chai & bagels! I also love how there's so many windows, it's beautiful on rainy days :)
However, I've often encountered very rude staff, some who seem to purposely take long to prepare your order. Last time I went, I ordered to go, as I was going to travel, & almost missed my train because of how long the barista took, even though the cafe was quite empty.
On another occasion, they were playing very loud music, which makes it difficult to concentrate if you're trying to work/study - not sure if this was a one-time thing or if it happens frequently.

We ordered the ham & brie sandwich & it was delicious. The coffee was rich but smooth at the same time, but what was really outstanding about this café was the service. Best service that we've had at a coffee shop ever! Highly recommend it.
Extra tip: The espresso martinis here are from another world & they are only $10 during happy hour.

Cozy & dynamic café in the heart of Montreal
Café Castel is a beautiful place with a vibrant & welcoming atmosphere. I had a medium latte with beautiful latte art & an almond croissant that was fresh & perfectly flaky. The staff were kind & efficient, adding to the charm of the whole experience. It's the kind of place that makes you want to stay a little longer & enjoy the moment. Highly recommended for coffee lovers.

Let me start by the ambiance, it is just one of those cafés you fall in love with at first glance. Right from cobblestone flooring to pale ochre walls, a balcony & beautiful lamps/ chandeliers. Than comes the great coffee. The Lebanese know their craft & this doesn't disappoint at all. Best flat white in town. A perfect pit stop for your daily caffeine need.
Im always a fan of places that are a cafe & also a bar. Cafes naturally close in the afternoon & bars start then so it makes a lot of sense to use the same space for both. Places like this usually have a good mix in their atmosphere since it needs to work for both. This one has a vary italain style with walls that look like you are walking down a old city & warm lighting to match it. The coffee itself was nice & earthy & when we came back the esspresso martini had a similar earthy & creamy flavor. Overall a nice little coffee shop.
Since 2022 every time that I went to class or to McGill's library I would passed by this cafe & thought how beautiful it is. Finally today I decided that I could scoop some time & enjoy a moment there. It is precious! The ambiance & the chocolate mousse that I had was extraordinary, so soft & rich & not at all too sweet (even though the slices are big) there were cute little birds all around ❤? like a daydream. Love it, great place!
I was the first customer of the day, & what a great way to start my day. Great coffee. Pleasant & relaxing vibe. Friendly & talented staff. There was a big brand cafe across the street. I made the right choice. Keep up the great work!
