I ordered a light breakfast & London fog.
The bread is so good that I can eat it without anything; London fog is the best drink I have drunk, I will come here again for it surely.
By the way, the clerk is very nice. I also recommend that foreigners come to visit!
Today's consumption: 24.65$ (includes tax)
Cozy nice cafe, local gem, the Persian Fog would be amazing if it wouldn't be served so scorching hot, have to wait for long time to cool it down. The drinks should be served with drinkable temperature, it is always possible to balance boiling water with a cold one after brewing a tea.

Easily my favourite cafe in Montreal. Lovely ambiance for a date or meeting friends, & great for studying or reading as well. Food & drinks are perfect. Thanks Cafe Aunja!
My first time in Montreal didn't go exactly as planned-my girlfriend (she's from Toronto) & I (from Vermont) were hoping to spend most of our time exploring Old Montreal, but the weather had other ideas. So we pivoted, looking for a cozy café where we could stay warm, write, & enjoy good food, & that's how we found Café Aunja.
From the moment we walked in, it felt like something special. Our visit ended up being so memorable & romantic that we now think of it as'our' place.
The seating is abundant, & while the lighting leans dim, it's adjustable, which makes it ideal whether you're writing, chatting, or just people-watching with a cup in hand. The staff are warm & extremely welcoming, & as someone who's been a barista for 15 years, I can honestly say the drinks & food were made with real care. You can taste the pride in every detail-from presentation to flavor.
Café Aunja has Iranian roots, & it was my first time trying items like the Kereshmeh & Nargoun smoothies, both of which were bright, fruity, & refreshing. I also had a slice of their blueberry cake, which looked beautiful & tasted even better. On the more traditional side, I tried their moka latte, while my girlfriend went for their floral & herb-packed teas, which were as pretty as they were flavorful.
We ended up coming back two more times during our trip to write & relax, & I actually started my next novel there. She left equally inspired. Even if we stay in a different part of the city next time, we've already agreed: we're coming back to Café Aunja.
It's not just a café-it's a creative sanctuary, a cozy escape from the weather, & now, a cherished part of our story.
This is a hidden gem of Montreal. I tried their persian fog & rose tea & they were both delicious. I have never tasted such a rich flavour of saffron jn a drink or a cake before. The design & colour & ambiance of this place was so beautiful.

This cafe is just the best. It's got this chic middle eastern vibe going on which works perfect with the ambience. The food is fresh, although it's just sandwiches amongst solid food & rest are all drinks which are great too. They are generous with the amount & prices are reasonable too.
I vividly enjoyed my time there, especially coz of the atmosphere.
This is my go-to café downtown. It does get pretty crowded on the weekends, but for a good reason. Over the last year, I've tried their brunch items, sandwichs, teas, cold drinks, & desserts at this point, & I'd recommend anything on the menu. My personal favorites are the combo breakfast, the sholeh zard, & the London fog.

Loved this place. The food was tasty. The design & decor, needless to say, is beautiful. It creats a cozy environment. The drinks' prices are on higher end but I guess that is what to be paid, considering also the location. Overall, a great experience.
I visited Cafe Aunja last month, & it was a wonderful experience. The staff were incredibly friendly & welcoming, creating a warm atmosphere that reminded me of an authentic Iranian café. The quality of the food & drinks was excellent, & the cozy setting made it a perfect spot to relax. It truly feels like a home away from home. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a comfortable & inviting place to enjoy Persian tea & more!
Beautiful inside. Very cozy & loved the Persian theme. However the drinks were just very "extra" I appreciate anything Rose flavor. It was hard to drink with all the stuff they put in it. It's just not practical ?. Also the flavor wasn't the best either. The mint drink & the rose drink had like a pound of stuff in the hot water so by the time u get to the drink it's already cool. It's better if they could discard it or something rather than have it for aesthetic purposes because it's unnecessary. I've had rose drinks & teas so I know you shouldn't be swallow the roots & leaves while you are drinking it. The desserts were ok. A bit overpowering with the rose essence. Everything smelt & tasted like incense . Could be better . The cafe is an amazing place to hangout . It gets crowded so get the seats early when you can .

I don't typically leave reviews, but given that this has been a recurring experience at this café, I felt it was worth sharing. I have been familiar with this café in Montreal for almost a decade now. The food is consistently delicious, & the drinks are excellent. However, I often find that the service affects my overall experience. The cashiers tend to be cold, & simple requests-such as asking for more sauce on a $17 sandwich (with tips) -are met with resistance or ignored entirely. It feels uncomfortable to be served by staff who seem disengaged or even dismissive. This recurring experience has led me to wonder if all customers are treated this way or if there might be an additional factor, such as race, at play. I hope I am wrong, but it's still unfortunate that these interactions even lead me to consider that possibility.
Aunja, a quaint Iranian restaurant in Montreal, presents an intriguing mix of promising flavors but is unfortunately marred by service & logistical issues. During our recent brunch visit, we ordered an Americana coffee, ginger tea, & a Snowman Kiss. For food, we went with the lentil soup, sausage omelette, & melted cheese omelette. While the food was delicious & rich in flavor, the overall experience left much to be desired. The service & the layout of the place require a major overhaul. Despite reserving a table in advance, we were surprised to learn that we had to pay for our orders upfront before being seated. Worse yet, it took nearly an hour to receive our drinks & an additional hour to finally get our food. There also seemed to be serious operational gaps, with staff frequently stepping out to fetch condiments & supplies from a sister company nearby. This created a disjointed atmosphere, leaving us with the sense that the restaurant was ill-prepared for its customers. All in all, though the food was enjoyable, the long waits & chaotic service took away from the dining experience, leading to a 2 out of 5 stars rating.
Wow, unexpectedly came across this cafe. It has such a lovely atmosphere. The food & the drinks are delicious. Loved the Persian fog & the chicken Koukou
