This restaurant sadly did not live up to the expectations. I really wanted to like this restaurant but it felt like they were trying to copy some playbook of providing a haute cuisine experience but without the substance behind it.
First, the portion sizes are just ridiculously small for the price you pay. Unfortunately the quality of cooking techniques & creativity in ingredients & dishes do not make up for that lack of quantity, as one might expect from similar fine dining restaurants that offer the tasting menu format.
I visited Montreal for a week trying highly rated restaurants each night, & this was both my most expensive & least satisfying meal.
I actually left so hungry after the menu was completed that I had to find a Portuguese chicken place to eat. I was still hungry enough to finish a 1/4 chicken plate.
The second issue, though much more minor, was that the service felt very artificial. Everyone was friendly, but it felt fake & like they didn't care to have any conversation beyond what they needed to say when presenting each dish.
I added a star only for the fact that the owner was actually out on the line prepping alongside his chefs, & he at least made attempts to speak to each guest at the chef's table at least once.View more
Just when you think tasting menus are dead, Massimo will prove you wrong. Delicious yummy food from beginning to end. great vibes, great music, great service.View more
The best meal we ate in Montreal among several excellent tasting menus. Sit at the bar, talk to the team, a great experience, the multi-layered, multi-textured chocolate dessert was the best thing I've eaten in the last year as a sweet course, complex, not overly sweet, truly a masterwork.View more
We were excited to pay a visit to Cabaret l'enfer last week after hearing so much about it. Overall, we were disappointed, the food was good (but with very few memorable dishes in my opinion) but the service was abysmal, by far the worst I've had in a restaurant at this price point in Montréal. We got there at 20:15, paid for the tuna extra so we had 8 courses. We left at 00:10, so almost 4h later. The service was excruciatingly slow, & ruined the overall experience for me. It took over an hour to get the first course. Food wise, the charcuterie board was good & enjoyable, the fatty tuna extra was also delicious, same for the scallops. The rest of the meal wasn't bad, but I'm writing this barely a week after going to the restaurant & I've already forgotten what those dishes were, so they probably weren't that good. The restaurant by itself is pretty plain, some may call it ugly. It feels cheaply put together, & not in line with the $140 tasting menu. I would not come back & recommend the restaurant to friends, there are very similar, but superior restaurants in the city.View more

Another beautiful discovery! My wife invited me to a surprise birthday dinner to this great restaurant & we loved the experience. Philippe, Théo, (également la mixologist désolé on n'a pas votre nom) & Chef Massimo were all perfect. We took the tasting menu with wine & all the meals were delicious. Only two recommendations for improvements: 1- the AC was not working & my wife would have like to be aware before we arrived at the restaurant - we had a very humid day in Montreal (almost 37c) 2- choice of music & the volume was loud at some moments. Regardless of those 2 details, we loved our experience & we will definitely go back & try the bar experience. Thank you all! Ali&EstheView more
Four of us had a fantastic evening yesterday which happened to be my birthday ! Staff were all excellent with a wonderful smiling service. The fixed tasting menu was amazing, great fun & not at all po-faced ! Well done Massimo - you're a complete star !View more
Tasting menu is good in quality & not overpriced. Every dish is very decent, though not outstanding. The environment & atmosphere are very enjoyable.View more
Service was top notch. You can tell they are extremely passionate about their craft here. Ambience was fun & low key. Being really honest here I had the tasting menu & I really was not wowed by the food. They tried to mix unique flavors & do interesting techniques but in terms of just pure taste it was just ok. Not really worth it imo.View more
Amazing spot in Montreal. Ran by passionate people who truly know their craft.
If you want to go all in with the tasting menu ($120) & it's wine pairing (80$)you will leave satisfied, happy & wanting to come back.
Now they have a late night short menu for those who want to be coming back often as regulars, amazing 40$ price for three courses this one is a must for repeat customers. I know I'll be coming back for more.
Thank you Santiago & the rest of the team for putting on a show last night.View more
