One of the older Persian-style restaurants in Montreal, known for its authentic recipes & distinctive atmosphere. The cuisine is an interesting fusion, traditional Persian flavors presented with a more Western-style plating & presentation. The overall setting & décor also reflect this blend of cultures.
The food carries a strong homemade character, with the kind of depth & care you would expect from traditional Persian cooking. The location is also very good & convenient.
The only weak point was the customer service, which felt less welcoming & patient than expected!
Still, it remains a memorable place for Persian-inspired cuisine in the city.
Very good place to discover persian food. The services & staffs are great, especially when you need advices. The place can be quite packed during rush hour so I suggest to come earlier, before 11 AM.
If you're used to Western breakfasts like omelets, English ham & sausage, & Mon coco etc, try a traditional Iranian breakfast.
Byblos Restaurant is named after a city in present-day Libya with a 7,000-year history, once ruled by the Persian Empire.
Naan, feta cheese, dill herbs, olives, & radish, along with a cup of sweet Persian tea, make up the essential Persian breakfast. The warm, freshly baked bread & naan, paired with homemade jam from an Iranian mother, & the aromatic flavors of ginger & rose petals, create a rich & complex flavor.
Add scrambled eggs between pita bread for a complete & luxurious Iranian breakfast.
This is the Persian breakfast I know & love, just ever so little tilted to the western taste. Loved it! No fuss, nice food, quite, space
Don't expect quick service during rush hour. Nice staff & decoration. Food is adapted to local Canadian taste palette. (Nice way to say not for Persians)
This Persian hidden gem!!! Omg I tried'dizzi' & it was amazing!! (Dizzi only on Sundays apparently) The dizzi tastes like my grandma's Dizzi back in the days. The bread was also fresh.
I also tried their appetzires with beetroot & spinach & it was soooo good.
Would definitely go back & 100% recommended!
Thanks to Arshia & Ms. Hemela for their hospitality.
Great spot to bring your laptop or a card game & some friends & to spend the day! In the summer their windows open fully into an open air terasse & in the winter you can tuck yourself into a cozy bench with cushions & Persian tea!
They're not the fastest service so it's more the spot to head when you're not in a rush, but the food is delicious & the decor & ambiance is really special too.
Pleasant little spot with Persian & other middle eastern style tasty delights. Great'date' spot. Best to visit in late spring, summer & early autumn. Lamb, chicken, egglplant,'koukou', yogurt dips, hummus, etc....all done right. Friendly service. Bring a Greek Goddess. Leave the financial vampire Lebanese Princess wannabes at home where they belong. 😉👌
I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! They serve delicious Persian traditional cuisine that you absolutely have to try. Every dish is full of flavor, with authentic spices & ingredients that make you feel like you're right in Iran. The variety is incredible, & each dish is crafted with such care. If you're looking for a unique, flavorful experience, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommend trying a bit of everything to fully appreciate the diversity of Persian cuisine!
Cozy place, with delicious food, & nice Persian classical music. Loved it.
Perfect delicious cute lovely ambiance & hosts!! This spot is so tastefully decorated with Persian art, in a beautiful neighborhood + delicious food & tea. We were visiting from NYC & will definitely come back with friends. This a place to bring your friends! One of our favorite hang out spots in the city.
1. clockwise: sweet bread & pita, unlimited persian tea with 3 different types of sugar cubes presented in a beautiful little brass dish..., extraneous side of feta, honey, assorted yoghurts. & an unpictured tomato onion feta omelette 2. assorted dips + bowl of coffee everything was delicious, the tomato omelette especially so but probably because it reminds me so much of chinese tomato egg but with a different texture. & i love how the entire wall is completely open window lined with so many plants!!! perfect for people watching & enjoying summer ai
One of my favorite place to eat in the city! Been a customer for the last 10years (mostly for their breakfast). This place keep its welcoming charm & authentic delicious Persian food. Family owned, it really keeps a unique home feeling as soon as you get in. My favorite is their feta omelette & their rose-pistachio jam with their bread.
With all fairness, it is anything but Persian for those who know about quality Persian food. The portions are small, tasteless, & overpriced for what they are offering. I suggest they stick to coffee & pastry if any. I was not impressed, & would not recommend it to my dear ones !
Such a cute & pleasant local resto...Byblos serves Persian style cuisine for breakfast, lunch & dinner...organized in their menu by chapters (a very nice concept). The decor in this two room bistro is somewhat simplistic but gets the job done; & you are there to try some interesting takes on dishes that you probably would not normally have had the opportunity to experience. We were a large group & ordered a wide selection from the First Chapter of the menu: Fried Eggs with Dill (very good), Feta Omelet (good...a bit on the salty side), Date Omelet (excellent...a mix of sweet & savory that we have not experienced before), & the Feta/Halva/Sweet Bread plate (very good...nice assortment of jams to apply to the breads & pitas allow for a lot of experimentation). All the meals include tea or coffees (all of which were very good). NOTE: The omelets are not prepared in a typical way & are very runny & loose (see picture for reference...so be prepared). Service was excellent...super friendly & informative with the meal being served quite quickly even though the restaurant was almost a peak capacity. Certainly worth a visit...& after you meal, take a stroll along this section of Laurier to check out the many unique local shops. Enjoy!
