Love this place. Been going once every couple of months & the atmosphere is great.

The food is equally fantastic. I highly recommend their more eccentric dishes like Shiva's Curry & chicken & leek pie. Had the beef short rib which was really tender. The portions are slightly smaller than your average pub food so I don't recommend going on a completely empty stomach, at least not for the big gourmands out there who care more about food than vibes. The quality of the food more than makes up for it though.

Their burgundy lion ale is also very smooth & goes down very nicely. Highly recommend & it's great for both budget drinking & great taste.

The Burgundy Lion was full of life. For about 15 minutes after we sat down, we weren't part of it.

My wife & I stopped in for a beer before a show at Théâtre Beanfield. The pub is attached to the theatre, making it extremely convenient when you have 45 minutes to burn before the doors open.

When we arrived, the place was thriving. The terrasse was packed, the bar was full, & only a few tables remained open in the dining room & outside. We were greeted warmly & seated almost immediately.

Our small table for two was tucked beneath the stairs just off the bar. It did the job, but it was tight & located along a busy path used by servers moving back & forth. It wasn't the most comfortable place to settle in.

Despite being seated quickly, we then waited almost 15 minutes before anyone took our order. That feels particularly long when you only have 45 minutes & are ordering two beers.

I chose a pint of Peroni, while my wife ordered a Modelo. Once ordered, they arrived fairly quickly. The beers were wet & tasty. :)

We didn't order food, although I watched a plate of fish & chips pass by that looked delicious enough to make me question that decision.

I didn't leave feeling that we had experienced the Burgundy Lion at its best. A packed pub explains why service might slow down, but it doesn't make a customer feel any less forgotten. Still, I liked the lively, energetic atmosphere & the convenience of being next to the theatre.

It's the kind of place I want to like, so I'll probably give it another try the next time I'm in the neighbourhood.

Hopefully, we simply caught it at the wrong moment & next time the stars, the seating & the server all align a little better.

Fantastic dinner at the Burgundy Lion. I'm going to call it...it was the best burger I've ever had. Delicious bun, patty & fixings. Plus, amazing fries. We sat in the cute inner courtyard, & it made for a serene experience. Although, if you want more energy, the pub itself is nice & lively. Very attentive & friendly servers. Absolutely worth a trip!
