The service & atmosphere were really nice, & they offer an impressive selection of over 100 different whiskies along with some fabulous cocktails.
Unfortunately, the beer selection was limited & food were very very mediocre. We ordered the entrée mix platter, fries (which were soggy), & the sticky toffee pudding & all of them were disappointing.
Nice venue. Good service.
Linen & Silverware table service.
Good & interesting selection of pub fare & favourites. Good beverage selection.
Portions were sufficient. Something for every taste.
The Burgundy Lion has been a beloved part of Montreal's community for 17 years, & it's easy to see why. From the moment you walk through the doors, you're welcomed by the cozy, lively atmosphere that perfectly blends British pub tradition with Montreal's unique charm.
The food is consistently excellent-comforting classics with a modern twist-& the beverage selection is second to none, featuring a fantastic range of beers, whiskies, & cocktails. Whether you're there for a hearty meal, a casual drink, or to catch a big game, the staff always make you feel like part of the family.
What truly sets The Burgundy Lion apart is its role as a gathering place. For nearly two decades, it has brought people together to celebrate, cheer, & connect over good food & great company. It's more than just a pub-it's a Montreal institution that continues to serve its community with warmth & pride.
Cheers to 17 years of good times & many more to come!
I sat at the bar for an afternoon of beer & whiskey (because, why not?!). The server suggested the perfect local brew but the star of the place is the extensive whisk(e)y selection. Not just the heavy hitters (Scottish, Irish, Bourbon, etc.) but also a great selection of other countries. I had a whiskey from Mexico (I had no idea that Mexico produced whiskey). Loved the automatic addition of the eye dropper to add a little water if your whiskey choice is a little fiery. All the staff were fantastic & the vibe was fabulous. If you're in the neighborhood you need to pop in. Heck, if you live 100 km away you need to pop in!
Pub Burgundy Lion is a true gem in the heart of Little Burgundy, offering a perfect blend of traditional British pub charm & Montreal's vibrant personality. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere with dark wood interiors, vintage decor, & a lively yet relaxed crowd. It feels both familiar & unique-like stepping into a classic pub with a twist.
The food is consistently excellent, with comforting British staples like fish & chips, shepherd's pie, & a proper Sunday roast. Everything is made with care, & portions are generous. It's the kind of place where you'll want to try everything on the menu over time. The staff is friendly, attentive, & knowledgeable-especially when it comes to drinks.
Speaking of drinks, the whisky selection is exceptional-one of the largest in Quebec. Whether you're a casual sipper or a connoisseur, there's something to discover. Their beer list is also solid, with local & international options that complement the hearty menu.
What really sets Burgundy Lion apart is its community feel. From quiz nights & sporting events to afternoon tea service & whisky tastings, there's always something happening. It's a place where locals & visitors feel equally at home.
In short, Burgundy Lion isn't just a pub-it's an experience. Delicious food, great drinks, & a welcoming vibe make it one of Montreal's most beloved spots.
The best fish & chips this side of the Atlantic!
This English-style pub nails it. The fish was golden, crispy, & flaky on the inside-absolutely perfect. The chips were thick-cut & perfectly seasoned, & the house tartare sauce took it all to the next level.
The beer selection is just as impressive: plenty of local brews & classic English pints on tap, poured just right. The pub has that cozy, authentic feel-dim lighting, dark wood, & the hum of good conversation.
If you're craving proper fish & chips with a cold pint in hand, this is the place. Can't wait to go back!
A Montreal classic. Good vibes, best whiskey selection in the city, great food as well
Decided to organize a last minute boys night out with a few whisky enthousiaste friends on a Friday night.
We got a table on the third & last floor of the place. The decor & seat were comfortable. The place, pretty small & packed. You're surrounded by bottles behind locked cabinets & it was interesting to have a look around.
The whisky & scotch selection was very interesting. There were quite a few options we had never tried & some delicious ones. Since that was the main reason for our group going, we were quite pleased.
We went for a 19h reservation as a group of six adult male & I was surprised that we were surrounded by families with young loud children & that the music was so loud that we had a hard time hearing each other unless it was your neighbor right next to you or raised your voice quite a bit. Music was good but definitely didn't need to be that loud considering it's a place you expect people to be sitting & talking. Not dancing.
I had the burgundy burger & the food was blend other then some part of the patty tasted burned. My friend took all different choices, & none of them was raving about there plates. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great. Considering that's not why we chose this place though, we didn't mind all that much.
Overall the service was good for a packed house, & the whisky sommelier helpful to help us create different flights to try. So we had a good time catching up & tasting some very interesting sample. If you're a whisky amateur, it's worth the visit.
The drink selection here is fantastic! I loved the variety of beers & enjoyed the chill jazz music, which paired surprisingly well with the classic English pub interior. The ambience was unique & definitely a highlight of the visit. However, the food & service didn't meet my expectations. The burger was served cold, we had to ask spicy sauce just to add some flavour to meal. With some slight improvement in service this place definitely will become a #1 pub interior Montréal.
Had a great experience. The place isn't cheap, but it's also not trying to be the place across the street. Would like more local beer selection. The food we had was perfect.
Best english food I have ever had with an intense whisky selection. Always wanted an amazing shepherds pie.
I reserved the atrium to host a celebration of life for my mother. Nancy was wonderful to work with. There were no hiccups or issues with anything. Sabrina, our host, was excellent. The A/V worked out perfectly for our slide show. The food was delicious & plentiful. I ordered savory & sweet apps plus mains for our group. The drink selection was excellent. I highly recommend the Burgandy Lion.
One of the oldest bars in the area, always busy, nice vibes. It has a big outdoor terrace very popular in summer days, & a sports bar with TVs upstairs. Being popular & crowded means longer wait time for seats & orders. Good selection of food & drinks.
Amazing bar! Great selection, great food, great service. Erin took care of our group & provided exemplary service!
It was an amazing pub in Montreal! A great atmosphere, with friendly & prompt service. I was with my fiancee & in-laws, & we had a great time. I ordered the duck pasta, which was nice. There was a large selection of beers on tap, & they were all very good. It's definitely a great spot!
Best British pub in the city! Great neighbourhood vibe, staff is the best! Love their Burgundy Ale & incredible selection of whiskey choices. Their yearly St George's Day Pub Bus tour is so much fun! The double decker bus drive us for fun & drinks at Bishop & Baggs for breakfast, Britt's & Chips for lunch, Wolf & Workman for cocktails then dinner at the Burgundy Liion. Fun, fun, fun with new & old friends, Knights, touring the city & slaying the dragon ending.
Fun pub atmosphere. I have been there twice now & will definitely go again. Beer selection is good & I've yet to try something I don't love from the menu. (we've tried the onion soup, scotch egg, fish & chips, cod, & my favourite so far is the shepherd's pie). This year I plan on trying their whiskey tasting & high tea. Staff is fast & friendly.
Great spot for match day, & great British pub vibes! Love the selection of whiskey available & the hearty meals, particularly the fish & chips are a great compliment to it. A must visit if you're into football.
