About

Burgundy Lion operates as a traditional British pub experience that focuses on authentic comfort food staples and a comprehensive selection of whiskies. The menu centers on classic fare such as crispy beer battered fish and chips served alongside minted mushy peas and tartare sauce. Hearty pies and savory pub snacks define the culinary approach by prioritizing rich flavors and consistent preparation techniques. The interior reflects the aesthetic of a classic London tavern with dark wood accents and leather booths. Patrons find an environment dedicated to the appreciation of malt beverages and imported ales in a focused setting. This establishment maintains a commitment to the fundamental principles of British pub culture by emphasizing quality ingredients and substantial portions. Every element of the service aligns with the traditions of a standard public house.

Review Summary

Burgundy Lion is widely celebrated as a staple of the Montreal community, offering an authentic British pub experience characterized by its warm atmosphere, extensive whisky collection, and consistently popular dishes like fish and chips, bangers and mash, and high tea. Visitors frequently praise the vibrant, cozy decor and the staff's dedication to hosting lively sporting events and private functions. While many guests describe the service as exceptional and friendly, some experiences have been marred by inconsistencies in food quality, noise levels, or service attentiveness during peak hours. Despite these occasional drawbacks, the establishment remains a go-to destination for locals and tourists alike, appreciated for its welcoming spirit and its ability to function as both a casual neighborhood hangout and a reliable venue for memorable group celebrations.

Très bon moment entre amis, dans une belle piece au toit vitré, un peu isolé de la musique, parfait pour nous ! La bouffe & les boissons étaient bonnes, nous avons passé une excellente soirée, merci !

I usually don't leave bad reviews, but this experience was something else. The service here was extremely slow, with a big attitude from the start. At one point, the server accused us of breaking a menu on his table, when in fact it was already broken when we received it. Instead of handling the situation respectfully, he was rude & dismissive.

On top of that, the music was extremely loud & just terrible. We asked politely four times if we could be moved outside because it was unbearable, & the response we got was,'Well, our last call is in 20 minutes so it's not worth it.' That's not only unprofessional, it's disrespectful to paying customers.

Finally, after we paid the bill & decided not to leave a tip (which was more than fair given the service), the server actually came back & said:'Well guys, since you left no tip we won't serve you anymore.'

Absolutely unbelievable. There are far too many good restaurants in the city to waste time & money on a place that treats customers like this.

We had an amazing time at Burgundy Lion! Our group (Les Glorieux, Botafogo fans from Montreal) was looking for a place to call home for our match days - & the staff here welcomed us with open arms.

The atmosphere was perfect, the service was top-notch, & everyone made us feel truly at home. They even helped us set up the stream for our Brazilian league match, & we had a blast celebrating together.

It's rare to find a bar that feels like yours from day one, but Burgundy Lion delivered. Looking forward to many more game days here. Obrigado! 🖤🤍

Pub Burgundy Lion is a true gem in the heart of Little Burgundy, offering a perfect blend of traditional British pub charm & Montreal's vibrant personality. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere with dark wood interiors, vintage decor, & a lively yet relaxed crowd. It feels both familiar & unique-like stepping into a classic pub with a twist.

The food is consistently excellent, with comforting British staples like fish & chips, shepherd's pie, & a proper Sunday roast. Everything is made with care, & portions are generous. It's the kind of place where you'll want to try everything on the menu over time. The staff is friendly, attentive, & knowledgeable-especially when it comes to drinks.

Speaking of drinks, the whisky selection is exceptional-one of the largest in Quebec. Whether you're a casual sipper or a connoisseur, there's something to discover. Their beer list is also solid, with local & international options that complement the hearty menu.

What really sets Burgundy Lion apart is its community feel. From quiz nights & sporting events to afternoon tea service & whisky tastings, there's always something happening. It's a place where locals & visitors feel equally at home.

In short, Burgundy Lion isn't just a pub-it's an experience. Delicious food, great drinks, & a welcoming vibe make it one of Montreal's most beloved spots.
