Nous étions 4, le fish & chips étaient extra. Les gnocchis au porc effiloché étaient délicieuses. Bravo, ce fut une belle expérience. J'ai apprécié que la jeune hôtesse nous parle en français.View more
Came in for a footy match, vibe was there with a crowd cheering for their team. Good pints, crisp fish & chips & excellent cock-a-leekie soup 🍲View more
Stopped here for dinner after a show at the corona theatre. I'm always wary of ordering fish & chips somewhere since a lot of places in the city really don't know how to make it well, & I get served a soggy mess with flavourless batter. This place, though? Easily some of the best fish & chips you'll find in the city. Crispy batter down to the last bite & delicious chips. It's well out of my area so I'm not sure when I'll be back, but if I'm in the area I'm absolutely going back for those fish & chips!
2025 edit:
Today I came for brunch! My first visit back from my initial review. Though the fish & chips were on the brunch menu & very tempting, I wanted something a little lighter in the morning & chose the shakshouka instead.
The poached eggs were absolutely perfect, runny like I like them. The cumin yogurt made the entire dish so creamy & delicious once you mixed it all together. The roasted garlic was so soft & spreading it on the sourdough toast & dipping it into the dish lead to a pefect bite each time. I only wish the dish had a little bit more heat, since shakshouka I've had other places has a bit of kick.
I do wish I lived closer so I could try more of the food. I'd love to try the full English breakfast. Hopefully I can return sooner than later!View more
Deliciously fresh fish & chips-perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Not at all oily or soggyView more
Summary: Awesome, Trivia Night is so worth it, & order the Lancashire Hot Pot if you LIKE bland English cuisine.
Gorgeous pub! It's 3 floors high & the ambiance is very nice. We went for Trivia Night Monday & our host was Sarah- super charismatic & overall challenging & fun questions! Our waitress was also very sweet & she tried to be as timely despite being a busy night. Food came quick after ordering.
My friends (x3) & I ordered: Gnocchi, Burger, Fish N' Chips, & the Hot Pot.
The gnocchi & burger were reported to be very delicious. The fish n' chips were kinda small for the price.
My hot pot… was Very Bland. Granted, I'm not English or White. But I encouraged my White friends (who happen to be of English descent) to try a few bites. Even they were saying it was bland- that's with me adding boatloads of salt & pepper too. The salad that comes with it is also some basic Italian (North American style) dressing & it's… just so meh for $32. Oh well!
We had a great time :) Will be returning to try other dishes & down a pint of Murphy's.View more
I LOVE this place. Such a classic cozy'calm night' that can always turn rowdy. Always a great crowd & service. Very classic English pub, menu & taps included. I always get the Fish & Chips, this time geared toward the Leek & Chicken pie. YUM!! Wish I got the classic greasy fries though, but the mash was ok. Spaghetti was also unreal. Breakfast is always 10/10 tooView more
Awesome Mac n' Cheese, seriously delicious. Good fish & chips. Overall a good meal but just a little too expensive.View more
A nice pub, the fish & chips are good & the fries & burgers are decent. A pint of the house beer is reasonably priced & not bad.View more
When I visited Burgundy Lion 2 years ago, I came out of there very happy & satisfied. Not so much this time, a week ago. The food was just ok. I ordered the Fish'n Chip, ans in my plate there was not a french fry longer than 1 inch. In other words, the fries were only small bits of very dark fries. Very disappointing. Then for dessert, I was looking forward to have their famous Sticky pudding. The portion was the size of a deck of cards, there was no syrup around it, very dry, & the $3 scoop of ice cream I ordered with it was the size of a golf ball, & I'm generous. Again, very disappointing. This was my last time at Burgundy Lion, & I don't think I will recommend it to my friends & collegues.View more
Merci!View more
We had the poutine, fish & chips, & steak frites. The poutine was fine, the fish was reportedly above average. The steak was absolutely tasteless. I can't believe I paid $40 for it.View more
Great portions for fish & chips! Mojito was great as well. Though I didn't like soup of the day. Overall great ambiance & nice food.View more
The local watering hole! Great pub, fun atmosphere & consistent pub food! You can't go wrong with their fish & chips! Chill wait staff that make any visit a good time!View more
Dropped in for lunch yesterday with a colleague. Food (fish & chips) was on point; the best I've had in Montreal. Service was friendly & non-intrusive. Great atmosphere!View more

Je vais toujours ici pour écouter les game de Premier League ou la finale de la Champion's League. L'ambiance est vraiment bonne. La bouffe est ok, je recommande de prendre une valeur sûre comme le fish n chip. Nice spot 👍View more
Been here many times & have enjoyed their food, the British pub like atmosphere, the service & authentic food offerings. Fish & chips a must. Their chips/french fries are top notch. Their hamburger was top notch & worth the money as it was all quality. Their onion soup was surprisingly authentically delicious with plenty of cheese. Their Mac & cheese - let's just say it's worth the calories. Caesar salad. Plentiful & delicious with the right amount of dressing & real anchovies. This is something you wish to note that the anchovies are not mixed into the dressing but placed atop the salad. Order accordingly is you don't prefer this. It's not a cosy place so don't expect this it's a pub & it has a lot of energy, music, a large bar area & the noise level can be challenging to hear yourself speak or others for that matter especially if there are any events going on as was when we went. It was so loud we asked to be seated way in the back next to the washroom so we could hear each other speak lol. Anyway, I won't list all the foods as you can see it on their website but do know that the food quality is consistently good & portions are also good. They are not doing a money grab here they provide good value for the money & true food is yummy.View more
It used to be good, but it has changed. Food is mediocre. I had fish & chips, & It tasted like It just got out of a frozen box & mixed in a batter that was sitting there for a full day (not fresh). The chips(fries) were cold & oily-soggy. My partner has the steak pie, & there was more sauce & non meat, for the price we expected better. If you sit near the kitchen & washroom area, It has a sewage-moldy smell... Very odd. Or could that be the ventilation system? Not too pleasant. There's not much to say about the service. They were doing their jobs, that's all. Lack of smile, It almost felt that some didn't want to be there or just tired. The atmosphere of the pub is fun, that's the only good part of it. I do not think to return for a while.View more
Food was very good, wouldn't say excellent. We've had the shepherd's pie & fish&chips multiple times. The shepherd's pie was missing salt & the fish was greasy (seems as if the oil wasn't hot enough when cooking), french fries were amazing. Service was excellent! The negative side.... Music was way too loud, as a matter of fact , the apple watch said that it was at 90 decibels & we would go deaf in 30 minutes. I'm not sure if that's their tactic to get people out after eating... it certainly worked for us.View more
Good British posh pub vibes ! it serves the classic pub comforting food but expensive I tried the bangers & mash with gravy It was tasteful & filling The fish&chips was good, crispy batter & chips. The sticky toffee pudding was a large warm & sweet cake, wish I had a bigger piece of ice cream on top to go with it. Great choice of draft beer tooView more
Great food, great service! Best fish & chips in town!View more
I've been here so many times & every time it's great. On my last visit, I emailed & asked if they could show a football game, it wasn't a premier league game, so it wasn't clear if it would be shown, but we decided to go anyway. It turned out it was available, but there was also a main game (liverpool vs man u) so I did't really expect to see the might Peterborough United in the Bristol Street Motors final... HOWEVER... when we arrived, we were told that we had an area at the back, so we pretty much had a private showing... ordered food (scotch eggs... so good. Fish & Chips... so good) & my team won. Staff are always amazing. Service is always great. love this place.View more
I recently visited the Burgundy Lyon pub in Montreal & had a mixed experience. -The French onion soup was unusual, with a tomato base & cheddar cheese, which was an unexpected twist on a classic. -However, the service was good, & the staff were friendly & attentive. -The atmosphere of the place is also quite enjoyable. /On the downside, the fish & chips were disappointing as the fish came unsalted, which affected the overall flavor & the batter was quite thick. Overall, it was an okay visit, but there's room for improvement in the food department.View more
Last night, my friends & I were greeted with amazing staff. The service & food was phenomenal. We had the fish & chips which I highly recommend. Overall great experienceView more
Probably my favourite pub in MTL. The food is very good (relative to pubs) - I've had their Shepherd's Pie, Burger, Fish & Chips, & Tikka Masala. So far, my favourite is the Fish & Chips. The Tikka Masala was average, the burger is quite good although inconsistent, & the Shepherd's Pie was tasty. I love their Murphy's Irish stout. It always tastes great & they're generally poured well. One small critique would be bubbles in the head. Otherwise a great pint. I recommend this place to anybody who loves a pub with good food, beer, ambiance, & old-style decore. It doesn't disappoint.View more
We went there with a group, the service was pretty good. The drinks were average, but I guess this is the kind of place where people drink beer. The fish & chips was good. The salmon wellington was also good with the mushrooms & the sauce, it was perfect for that dish.View more
