Review Summary

Buboy is a cozy Filipino spot tucked into a small corner of a building in Montreal, praised for comforting, deeply satisfying flavors like bulalo with rich bone broth, tender meat, and sweet corn, along with crowd favorites such as pancit canton, lechon, kinilaw, and kare kare. Reviews describe an authentic carenderia vibe with generous portions, friendly and attentive service, and a range of dishes that feel like home cooking, while also noting occasional issues such as limited seating, tricky location, and moments of inconsistency in temperature or seasoning. The menu delights with items like miki, coconut soup with crispy pork, Laing, and a cantaloupe juice, and some experiences highlight special offerings like Kamayan feasts that are interactive and genuinely satisfying. A few visits mention order mix ups or sanitation concerns, but the overall impression is that Buboy offers unique, affordable Filipino comfort food that many would return for, especially the pancit canton, lechon, kinilaw, and bone broth.

We appreciated the attentive service & professionalism of your staff during our recent visit to Montreal.

We're puzzled that the online reviews don't accurately reflect the restaurant's actual location, which is within a small corner space of a larger building.

Unfortunately, the food we tried didn't live up to the standards suggested by the reviews. Although the Filipino dishes did have an authentic taste, our overall experience was marred by concerns over sanitation & the ambiance of the premises.

We hope you can use this feedback to improve & align the experience with your online presence. 😩😑🫣

We tried the Kamayan Christmas dinner special-a collaboration with Dobe & Andy-& wow. If you're a meat lover, this will absolutely blow your socks off. The spread was loaded with BBQ pork, crispy pork, chicken, duck skewers, veggies, cream cheese & crab dumplings, plus a generous portion of fried rice packed with even more meat.
Reservations are required since it's a group-style meal, & it's well worth planning ahead. Other standouts for us were the coconut soup with crispy pork & the bone broth-both comforting & deeply flavorful.
Buboy is truly a rare gem in Montreal. Huge thanks to Chef Eric for consistently offering such unique, delicious dishes at prices that remain accessible.

Food looked awesome, but taste was off, bland & not working together.
Was very disappointed & still confused by the dishes I received.
Maybe it was bad luck…

Price was decent
Service was cold

This cozy little restaurant is tucked away on a corner, but don't let that fool you! It serves up some of the most delicious Filipino dishes that will have you return for more. Every bite is simply mouth-watering! The friendly gentlemen who served us were quick & polite, improving our experience. A big shoutout to them!

Buboy is a really tasty, homey, local restaurant joint with a twist on staple Filipino dishes. We had oxtail karekare, loco-gang, & longsilog. The portions are great, rice-heavy as what your Filipino mom will put on your plate. We had calamansi juice as well, which is always a refreshing drink to enjoy

I absolutely love this restaurant, the food & staff. They're always super friendly & go out of their way with recs & service. My sole complaint is that they're often out of certain dishes & preferring not to eat red meat or pork, it can be a bit tricky as most dishes contain the latter. I have tried their Miki Noodle soup (fav), the OG Bulalo & shrimp Palabok. All were fantastic! (Dont worry about the picture, the rangoons come in 5 but I couldn't help myself from eating one first lol)

Buboy is my favorite Filipino restaurant here in Montréal. They offer the best-tasting dishes paired with the most amazing staff. Shoutout to Chef Eric for always thinking of ways on how to innovate Filipino flavors through his unique dishes, & for placing Filipino cuisine in the MTL food map. Pro-tip: Ask for their homemade ice cream. I don't think it's posted in the menu, but it's definitely worth the try.

The best bulalo house in Montreal! This restaurant serves such comforting food, reminds me of my Filipino parents' cooking. My all time favourite dishes are: Bulalo Steak, Loco-Gang, & their Corned Beef Silog (made in house 😉). Also, the broth is to die for!! Not only is it super tasty & comforting, but it's good for the skin 😋 Lastly, the staff is super friendly & the ambiance is just so chill & nice. A solid 10/10

Buboy is a GEM. The absolutely delicious oxtail kare kare, all the beef dishes, the CRAB RANGOON & the best damn bone broth out there - the food is just amazing. Even the desserts! Just all around a great time & you feel good after eating. You feel the love & care through the food.

They do the hard work so you don't have to watch a pot for hours. Would recommend their popular dishes for an authentic Filipino taste.

Probably my new go-to for Filipino food. The dishes here are delicious & extremely filling. The kare kare brought me back to my grandma’s & the bulalo steak was so flavourful & addictive. Can’t wait to try more items on the menu!

Had the Pares & Kare-Kare, as well as the canteloupe drink. Both dishes were excellent! My partner & I slightly preferred the Pares, because the beef was just so tasty & flavourful. But I also really likes the Kare-Kare, which even used actual ox tail! We also had the crab rangoons which were so addictively good, we basically finished it all in one sitting. We had the food to go, & I wished the Pares had more sauce to go with it (maybe the rice absorbed most of the sauce) & the Kare-Kare came with a side of shrimp paste. That said, the food was so good we can’t wait to go back & try more of the menu! :) Highly recommend!
