After visiting several bakeries in the area earlier in the week, I can say without hesitation that this one stands out as the best. As a traveler who made a point of sampling baked goods throughout town, this is my honest, unbiased take: if you're still deciding where to go for the freshest, most delicious pastries, head straight here - you won't regret it.
From the moment you walk in, you're warmly greeted by the staff, who are wonderfully accommodating & can easily switch between English & French. The pastry display is a visual delight - each item arranged beautifully, & everything looked so delicious that I couldn't decide what to get because I genuinely wanted to try one of everything.
The cheese croissant alone is enough reason to come early - it's incredible. Crisp & golden on the outside, irresistibly fluffy & chewy inside, with a mouthwatering cheesy aroma that hits you before the first bite. These are extremely popular & tend to sell out first thing in the morning, so if you want to experience them at their freshest, make sure you stop by early. It's the kind of pastry that reminds you how simple ingredients, done well, can be downright extraordinary.
The almond croissant was another standout. Its shape immediately caught my attention - wider & flatter than most, which to me is a hallmark of an authentically made almond croissant. The flavor was everything I hoped for: fragrant, with an intense nutty aroma of almonds that carried beautifully through each bite. The filling had an equally bold almond flavor, but I appreciated that there wasn't too much of it - just enough to complement the pastry without overwhelming it.
The apricot pastry honestly surprised me with how fresh it tasted: flaky pastry layered with silky custard, topped with generous pieces of juicy apricot. What made it unique, though, was the addition of what seemed like a light topping made from a fresh apricot purée - something I rarely find in most apricot pastries. That extra touch gave it a vibrant, authentic fruit flavor & made it stand out in the best possible way.
Their breads are just as impressive. The hazelnut & date loaf struck a perfect balance of earthy, sweet, & hearty, while the sourdough had that classic tang & satisfying crust every bread lover looks for. I actually enjoyed it later with a hearty beef bourguignon I picked up as takeout from a nearby restaurant - it was the perfect pairing.
For travelers like me who are exploring the area & trying to decide which bakery to visit, this is my straightforward, unbiased recommendation: choose this one. You'll have no regrets - & it might just be the best decision you make on your trip.
Absolutely one of the best bakery we've ever visited. We completed our order & then went back in to get more. So far we've eaten the almond croissant & will work through the rest of the order which was an in-house pizza with garlic & rosemary, almond croissant with chocolate, pastries with apricot & peach, loaf of bread with apples & Carmel - we cannot recommend this place high enough. The staff were great & most knowledgeable & helpful.
