This place is close to my flat
So I thought i will bring my laptop & work here everyday
But there is no healthy option
Hard to find something vegetarian
The employees are not friendly when you speak English
Ange Bakery in Mail Champlain is a cozy slice of France tucked into the heart of Brossard, beloved by locals for its simple, satisfying offerings. There's nothing pretentious here-just honest, well-made croissants, crusty baguettes, fresh sandwiches, & smooth coffee that make everyday moments feel a little more special. The atmosphere is warm & unfussy, perfect for a quick stop or a leisurely pause, & the quality speaks for itself in every bite. That said, the service can be frustratingly slow & often feels disorganized, which takes away from the otherwise pleasant experience.
It is one of my favorite places to go & have some quiet time. I'm a baked food fan, so I always find something new to try with a cup of tea or coffee.
les petites tartelettes sont tres bonnes
Je recommande 4/5 car les croissants ne sont pas au top
A lovely pastry & bakery.
Positives.
Good variety
Pastry, desserts of various types, cakes, sandwiches etc. various hot beverages & proper coffee with an excellent coffee & espresso cappuccino machine etc.
Place appears very clean & has a nice outdoor terrace though being in a mall there really isn't a view but it's nice to be outside if you like.
Big negatives.
1- if you accept your baked pastries & such to be squished into a bag the bag is free. BUT, if you prefer to preserve the structural integrity of your baked goods or present them as a gift perhaps, then the company will CHARGE you extra for the box. Now to be clear, the charge in slightly under $0.50, cents which is negligible- however, their pricing is not on the cheap side & actually on the higher end of the pricing spectrum. Given their pricing one should expect that like as most other pastry/bakeries do include a box without additional charge.
2- the display where the croissants are along with the chocolatine etc. I noticed many flies inside & sitting on food. I told the server about this & her reply was that there is nothing that they can do about this & that they are aware of this. I was completely shocked given the laws that exist to prevent contamination of various forms in a bakery where this area is covered to prevent this type of issue.
I venture to purchase three types of pastry & specifically selected the ones place atop of instead on the bottom area where all the bugs were gathered - my hope is that they don't get at from the top & prefer the warmer area that the staff can't do anything to prevent this from happening - safe haven status if you will.
As far as taste, texture, quality versus price (value), & how it fares to its completion - very average. The pastries that should normally have some'gooey' factor were just about non existent & in addition to the the cinnamon style bun/brioche lacked sufficient cinnamon'goo' as well lacked the lacing of the most desired white icing.
As for the others they too were on the border of dryness & happily to coffee aided in making it easier to consumer.
I personally would not come back again as there is simply nothing here worth noting; nothing special, nothing incredible, & service was lack lustre at best. Servers lacked personality, friendliness, care & attention that one should expect from an upper end priced pastry / bakery.
This place shows various promotions when purchasing more than one of an item as well as others, thus appearing to show discounted value. But the reality is their base pricing being at the high end only bring their discounted price to a more competitive price point as opposed to an actual real deal on the price.
I don't know about their other items such as sandwiches but I can say that the sandwiches appears in the display & at best, mediocre as they too lacked any appearance of being appetizing & barely showed any of the ingredients inside the sandwiches.
Their prices individual portions of cakes & such were of small portions & also priced high given their size & appearance. Maybe one would argue that it's not size it's quality - but we all know that'size does matter'.
In short, not a place for a repeat visit or to recommend. You can have far more better experiences at many other places
Third review:
IN this 3rd year, nothing changes as coffee quality is concerned. If the owner invests a little more in coffee quality, better frequenting & revenue will increase.
This applies to Americano as well as Expresso & Lungo. Better coffee qualities attract coffee lovers. For the moment, the Americano can at times tasted completely burned, other times like washed water. Furthermore, why not invest in an automatic one cup-at a time-brewer. & get good quality beans like moka-java, for example. Considering quality costs something like 5 cents more per cup, the strategy will pay back. I don't care much for a few cents more per cup if coffee drinking is much more satisfying.
Second review:
All the magic has gone, for a café the coffee quality is much to be desired if not too bland. I asked for a almond stuffed croissant & they gave me some unidentified filled brown stuff one. & the sugar or sweet used in the viennoiseries is not good at all. Needless to say, it's a bye for me with Ange.
Old evaluation: Nice & cozy patisserie in Brossard, similar to Première Moisson. You can have cofffee & croissant on the terrace. Very good for your health as their patisseries are not too sweet (less than Première Moisson) or just enough. They have a good sellection of dessert pies but no cake
