Bootlegger Cocktail Bar & Cuisine earns praise for its creative cocktails, an impressive whiskey selection, and a welcoming, knowledgeable staff that can turn a visit into a memorable experience; the venue combines a stylish speakeasy vibe with vintage decor, live jazz, and a focus on fresh ingredients and precise mixology, including oysters during happy hours. Across many reviews, the atmosphere and drinks are highlighted as consistently well balanced and thoughtfully crafted, while occasional notes of slower service, crowding, or higher prices appear, along with occasional menu quirks or dishes that miss the mark; overall the place is seen as unique and worth returning to for the drinks, the ambience, and the sense of discovery it provides.
Had some drinks on a Friday night & it was great. The service was top notch & very friendly. The drinks are amazing, everything is fresh & made in house. The cocktails are works of art & tasted amazing. They also have the largest selection of whiskey I have ever seen. On busy nights I would suggest booking a table to be sure you can get in. The food looked really good as well. This is a great place to go for a few drinks or dinner & drinks. Next time I am in Montreal I will go back!
Our server Felix made the whole experience great! He was very knowledgeable about all of our drinks & gave us recommendations for some other bars that we should check out in Montreal. Overall it was a great experience
Very cool speakeasy vibes, delish cocktails with creative ingredients made in-house . The service was great too. We went on a Tuesday when all house creation cocktails are 10 dollars
Classy bar with live jazz but time your evening well. There is a two floor stairway entry into a speakeasy style jazz venue. $1 oyster nights seemed like a fantastic deal with subpar oysters. The server last minute informed us of the requirement of a drink with the order which was not mentioned at all upon entry despite inquiry into price & last call of the specials. The AC was dripping on some seats & the lights on the table did not seem to work well. While maybe a uniquely bad experience, overall a cute venue with good ambiance (despite missing the music) if not for the miscommunication over the pricing.
We've been here a few times already & this time went with my scotch loving in laws & as usual Bootlegger came through. The Sunday 1$ oyster deal was awesome. The oysters were fresh & the drinks were great. Also Felix was awesome! Definitely will be back soon!
