I was looking for a nice French restaurant in Montreal & found it with Bonaparte! C'était magnifique & très très délicieuse!! Georges did a great job telling us about the food & wine & greatly appreciated the service. Between the lobster bisque, fois gras, filet mignon, & paired wines from all over, the experience was exquisite.Voir plus
There are two restaurants that are our favorites in Montreal. Those are Bar George & Restaurant Bonaparte. Bar George has been our favorite for the last few years. Our all-time favorite has been closed for more than 10 years & that was known as the Beaver Club. Bar George has tried to kind of make itself similar to that but unfortunately I'm noticing it's a little bit not quite what it used to be. I would have to say our current favorite is Restaurant Bonaparte. It is located in the Napoleon Bonaparte hotel. Where is Bar George is what you'd call British, restaurant Bonaparte is full on French. When you sit here you're in a nice white dining room with crisp white linens. True high-end French dining. For my course I had the filet mignon topped with a nice large lobe of foie gras. It really doesn't get much better than that. There are high-end steakhouses such as Joe Beef etc. the food in those places is excellent but the noise can be very distracting. Add Bonaparte you have the epitome of fine dining. The staff knows your likes & dislikes. You are exceptionally well cared for in that restaurant. It has become our favorite now. Seafood, Steak, Pork & Duck dinners are all wonderfully prepared. The desserts are simply elegant without being over the top. We found the Profiterole to be among the best we've had anywhere. It is a fairly expensive restaurant among the most expensive we were at during our vacation. But this kind of fine quality dining attention to detail does not come cheap.Voir plus
Fantastic place with great French style food. The duck was excellent & the cream brûlée connection with food gras surprisingly goodVoir plus
A wonderful traditional French restaurant with a great atmosphere in the Old Port. You will be amazed by the fantastic ambience, sparkling Christmas tree, warm lights, elegant table cloths, romantic music & 5 stars service. We chose the 7 course tasting menu without regrets. Every dish was perfect! It was pleasant to sit a table by the window having delicious meals while it was snowing outside. An unforgettable night! We will come back!Voir plus
By far the best place I've ever eaten. It's been two years since my husband & I went for our anniversary & I since dream about this restaurant. The duck with maple syrup is amazing. The napoleon rivals that of any French restaurant. I will count down the days which I can come back. Please never change!Voir plus
I was in the mood for classic French food. That was exactly what I got. Oh wow, the food was absolutely amazing. If you don't believe me, look at the photos. The interior decor was comfortable & the service was excellent. It was a Monday evening & not crowded at all. I started with a kir to whet my appetite. Then had the shrimp & scallop harmony which was tasteful & beautiful to look at. Of course I had to go with a traditional duck confit which is my go to favorite. A succulent duck leg cooked so slowly with that moist juicy interior & served with the jus. It came with a few vegetables, more for decoration than taste. For dessert I had a glass of ice perry & the calvados souffle. It was huge but so light & airy, truly a stunning creation. The golden-brown crust was crisp & when I bit into the souffle the apple brandy taste just melted on my tongue. I can't wait to visit again.Voir plus
Excellent French cuisine in Montreal. We had a stunning meal, creative & prepared to perfection. The presentation was a visual treat & the flavors were magnificent! Our server was attentive & friendly. All our party left satisfied.Voir plus
If u r looking for a very nice restaurant in the heart of Mobtreal, with really goid food & ratger affordable price, u can't find any better place than Bonaparte restaurant. But, there is a big BUT here, if u expect Michelin level, it is 4/5 compared to Michelin standards. I ordered 4 different meals there. 1st their twisted French onion. Its stock was the best that it could be, showcases the high quality of the restaurant. The 2nd item that I ordered was their best item on the menu:" crem brule' with Foei gras", it might seem weird but it's just genius. Try it & u will find happiness at 1st bite. My main course was confit leg of duck, which had way to be perfect. Nothing special about that, quite pricey, perfect presentatiin like painting with unseasoned vegetables as side dish. It was good, but not so good. The desdert was lime pie, it was 9/10, in my pallet, needed more lime aroma. In general: definitely worth trying. Plus, the manager of this restaurant, was the most polite person that I haver spoken to in whole Canada. He was so good at his job.Voir plus
Awesome restaurant, great ambiance & top notch service. If you like to taste authentic French cuisine in old Montreal this is an essential spot to visit.Voir plus
Bonaparte is kind of like the Disney Land version of a French restaurant, meant for tourists only. It's not horrible, but also not worth a second visit.Voir plus
Service is nice, but a little slow. Not a problem if you wanna drink & just chill. Food is very good. Steak tartare is very nicely done, as is the duck breast. Plating is pretty, more like an artwork. Good atmosphere too. A good place for some fine French cuisine.Voir plus
The food was amazing, but the staff were extremely two-faced. They would be super polite, speaking English to me when checking up on me, but then the instant they finished doing so, the staff would all huddle & make fun of me in french, thinking I couldn't hear/understand them, which actually isnt true, as I understand French, I just cant speak it to the same level as they could: they made fun of the way I talked, the way I ate, the way I held my fork, the way I was dressed, my personality, & more, which felt very hurtful & attackative, to the point, where I felt like I was in an extremely uncomfortable & unsafe environment & had to ask for the bill early so that I could leave as soon as I finished my meal. & there was absolutely no reason for this, I was a very high paying customer, ordering a full course meal valuing $180 including my drink, & I was very polite to them at first, so they had no business being that rude. If you are an English native speaker, even if you speak a form of French, if it is not superfluent, I reccomend going elsewhere, as the staff here are incredibly hurtful despite their pretentious cheery demeanor, & I can guarantee that I will not be returning in the foreseeable future.Voir plus
Fantastic restaurant. The staff were kind & professional & spoke both French & English. The food was delicious. We heard from a friend that their duck is delicious, & can confirm. Would highly recommend the duck confit. The roasted duck breast was also good, but the confit was the hands-down winner. Their cocktails were great, as were the desserts. Must get the creme brulee.Voir plus
My wife a I both said it was the best French restaurant we've been in.Voir plus

Indulging in the Lamb Chops at Restaurant Bonaparte - A Taste of Timeless Excellence As I recently dined at Restaurant Bonaparte, I couldn't resist trying their renowned lamb chops, & I must say, it was an experience beyond compare. Since 1983, Restaurant Bonaparte has been celebrated for its exceptional French cuisine, & their lamb chops certainly lived up to the reputation. Cooked to perfection, each bite was a symphony of flavors & textures that danced on my palate. The tender meat, infused with delicate herbs & spices, melted in my mouth, leaving me craving more with every bite.Voir plus
If you want high quality & authentic French cuisine, Bonaparte is the place for you! Everything about Bonaparte is 5 star. The staff, the atmosphere & the food exceeded my expectations. We had the foie gras with creme brulee as an appetizer. I have never had foie gras with creme brulee & I was in for a very pleasant & delicious surprise! Our main entrees were the beef tartare & the truffle oil scallops. The cost is a bit pricey but definitely worth every single dollar. I would go back here & highly recommend Bonaparte to anyone who want delicious French food!Voir plus
Ambiance, Food, Drinks & Service top the chart in French Cuisine. George the Host, Simon, our server, & Iliya made our dining experience so amazing. Thank you 😊Voir plus
An elegant, traditionally-french, high-class atmosphere, with top-notch food to match. The service was excellent, & they even went the extra mile to accommodate a special request to help mark a personal occassion (my warmest thanks to the staff for that). A truly excellent dining experience.Voir plus
Five star for sure from the drink list to the French dishes & for the very professional friendly staff I ordered rainbow trout , 🤤 creamy crispy outside & juicy, sweet meat inside. Highly recommendVoir plus
Exquisite French restaurant with good service. Very good Rossini & daily catch.Voir plus
4.5/5 Great ambience & vibe. The avg age of guests there is high, meaning it's a consistent & authentic restaurant. The interior gives some French castle vibe. Love it. The service was good except that our server was covering half the tables there by himself. He was nice but too occupied with other guests. Food was great. Appetizers were better than the mains. Great seafood, foie gras, lobster salad & duck breast. Beef bourguignon & lamb shank was alright. P.s. their wine list was impressiveVoir plus
Go for: a legitimate fine-dining experience, from start to finish. Avoid if: you're not sure which piece of silverware to use first. Something surprising: the number of different servers that waited the table throughout the meal. Reservation needed? Yes, definitely Overall Experience: Strong 4/5. It was an extremely busy spot & we had to wait despite having a reservation, but the staff was incredibly professional & the food was what you'd expect from a high-end French restaurant. You would be wise to order the Profitérole for dessert. Value for Price: 4 Sanitation: 5 Food Quality: 5 Menu Precision: 4 Service Quality: 5 Timing: 3 Decor: 4 Access: 4 - 5 among the best 4 strong 3 not too bad 2 mediocre 1 never againVoir plus
Classic French menu. We had both duck breast & duck confit. Waiter suggested great wines.Voir plus
Thoroughly enjoyable evening & amazing experience start to finish. Despite being 20 minutes late we were accommodated with a table quickly. Food was incredible & had a good laugh with the server Jean-Michelle practicing our dodgy french.Voir plus
