Unfortunately, our experience at Bistrot de Venise was not what we had hoped for. The fault is entirely ours, we came across the restaurant on a blog we usually trust, & although we had some doubts, we decided to go ahead & give it a try.
It's undeniably difficult in Venice to explore something new without ending up in what feels like a classic tourist trap. While there was nothing wrong with the experience, it simply wasn't the kind of place or atmosphere we personally seek out when in Venice.
A small note for the record: tiramisù.. while a popular dessert, is not a historic dish & certainly not a Venetian one.View more
Spectacular food & service! The owners Sergio & Giancarlo made our evening so memorable. Each dish was finely crafted & presented & displayed Venetian cuisine at it's finest! The Chocolate Raspberry dessert was to die for! We had the best seat in the house with a window to the gondolier canal.View more
This is one of the finest restaurants I have ever dined at. We enjoyed the 4 course option which included the sweet & sour prawns with spiced onions & the sturgeon marinated in mull wine. Both were exquisite. These appetizers were followed by Durum Wheat Pasta & Scampi with a heavenly chili pepper oil & the Homemade Bronze Drawn Spaghettoni with butter & anchovy cream. Al dente superbness. The third course was Orange & Rosemary flavored Lamb & Duck Breast'Pervada', both entrees sous vied, then baked to tender perfection. The encore desserts were the best Tiramisu & Crème Brûlée either of us had ever experienced. The evening was capped off with a sit down visit by the owner. He explained their 30 year quest to find & reproduce ancient 13th & 14th century Venetian recipes. This is a humble family, dedicated to their craft. We will return to Bistrot de Venise every time we return to Venice.View more
Excellent Michelin rated restaurant with AUTHENTIC Venetian cuisine. THE place to go if you want to try traditional style food from this region. Our hotel recommended them & made us dinner reservations. It was amazing! My husband's risotto was actually MOVING when they presented his dish!! At first I was like, "uhhh babe...WTH is going on with your fooood!?!?! 😳"but then I realized it wasn't actually "alive", (Whew 😅) & our server explained it was just an effect of the heat...A very impressive presentation! Everything was delicious & my kids loved it too. Wine pairing was perfect! This was one of our favorite dinners during our 2 week tour of Italy. The Michelin rating is well deserved.View more
A divine culinary experience. Bistrot de Venise has a record of multiple years of being Michelin recommended. The atmosphere is traditional - low lighting, warm, soft seating & classical Venetian elements adorning the walls. The service is lovely - the wait staff were attentive, well mannered, & elevated the experience with their tasteful recommendations. The food was beautiful in its presentation & a culinary delight. Each item on the menu has a historical note of mention. The attention to detail was striking, with the visual appeal matched only by its sublime flavour. I would whole heartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an elevated dining experience. Bravo!View more
A truly exceptional dining experience. This is a restaurant run by people who clearly love what they do & take immense pride in it. The food is absolutely exceptional, from the starters down to the Tiramisu (which is very likely the best I've ever had anywhere). They also have excellent vegan options, which is much appreciated. The waiters are incredibly well mannered; charming, elevated, informative & friendly. The atmosphere feels like you're tucked into a historic Venetian hideaway. Their ingredient selection is so good that we had to buy some olive oil to take home. This is fine dining done perfectly, & I loved it.View more
Totally recommended. In a great city with highly variable quality restaurant food & experience this place just nails it. It is classic high quality european dining. The menu is there to challenge & please as you wish with both traditional venetian & typical modern dishes. (e.g. Beef tongue or duck). Cooking is sophisticated. The service is exceptional. I'd imagine the tasting menu is exceptional but we went a la carte. The decor is warm & feels special. It's a bit expensive but not outrageous or in any way exploitative & worth every cent. You could visit with your partner or friends or family. Plently of options & price points. Special shout out to Stephane the somellier. A true partner to you & the restaurant to enhance your dining experience; give him free rein! I'll be back every time I come back to Venice. I rarely give 5 stars for anything.View more
This place is magical, the food is superb. Traditional Venetian fayre elevated in presentation but losing none of the flavour & spirit of Venezia. Impeccable service & beautiful setting just makes it an all round beautiful experience. Thank you!View more

Literally the best food I’ve ever had in my life. My husband & I tried the tasting menu & it was truly a food journey. Each aspect of each course was very intentionally chosen & every ingredient shined. The balance of flavors was absolutely perfect. Courses were complex & modern yet showcased true Venetian cuisine. Service was lovely. Truly a one of a kind experience.View more
Bistrot de Venise provided an experience that far surpassed my expectations for a Michelin-starred meal in Venice. From the moment I arrived, I was entranced by the enchanting ambiance, accentuated by charming street-side tables that perfectly captured the spirit of Venetian elegance.
The food was nothing short of extraordinary. I began my culinary journey with the Prawns in "Saor," an appetizer steeped in historic Venetian cuisine. The prawns were impeccably cooked & beautifully complemented by spiced onions, sultanas, & pine nut milk. The amalgamation of flavors & textures was a delightful sensory experience that left me eagerly awaiting the next course.
For my main dish, I had the "Raw-Cooked" Risotto, a specialty of Bistrot de Venise & a first-place winner at the 8th National Enogastronomic Competition "Pistolto del Sommelier." The risotto was transcendent—infused with fennel, adorned with "cooked-raw" shellfish, & subtly accented by dill essence, licorice, & star anise powder. Each bite was a celebration of culinary artistry, complex yet harmonious in its flavor profile.
What elevated the experience from excellent to exceptional was the attentive & knowledgeable service provided by our waiter. He guided us through the menu with expertise, ensuring that our dining experience was as comfortable as it was memorable.
In summary, Bistrot de Venise offers an unforgettable dining experience that marries culinary innovation with attentive service, all set against the backdrop of Venice's timeless allure. It is, without a doubt, a must-visit for anyone seeking the pinnacle of Venetian cuisine.View more
