Biiru is a nice Japanese bistro located downtown, on City Councillors Street, hidden in the shadow of St-James church, a few steps from Ste-Catherine Street. The chef is pleased to offer traditional and refined dishes; you will enjoy the tender and juicy pork chops, marinated in a caramelized sauce. They just melt in your mouth! The tempura vegetables, cooked to perfection, are irresistible. In short, the menu leaves you speechless as its specialties are one better than the other. My partner & I came from USA to Montreal for the weekend simply to go to Biiru twice for our anniversary weekend. The staff were incredibly friendly, kind, & truly celebrated us! I went to Biiru with a large group of friends (over 15 people) & we had the loveliest dinner, with amazing service, waiters that were eager to help & accommodate any food restrictions & an overall impeccable vibe!
I would recommend the okonomiyaki to anyone who wants the best Japanese pancake they've ever had - truly delicious, & I couldn't get enough of it!! Will definitely be coming back to Biiru for that dish alone.
Also, special thanks to Juliana, who was an extraordinary waiter & really went out of her way to make this a great evening for everyone in our group. Her drinks were wonderful . She was kind, always smiling, super quick on her feet & just an overall ray of energy. Definitely a highlight of the dinner!View more

We decided to try Biiru as recommended by some friends & being a food critic, I was totally impressed by the food, the service & the vibe. Very relaxed environment, nice music & felt totally at ease. We all felt taken care of & that the whole team was in charge & very attentive to our needs. Very very good experience. Juliana was so amazing & provided great customer service, however the food was not that great. There was so much sauce in almost all of the dishes that it was so heavy we couldn't enjoy it anymore. The beef & eel dishes had so much sauce that it felt like eating three table spoons of sauce. The beef skewer with the cheese was impossible to eat because it was a massive chuck of cheese with a thin slice of beef that was not tasteful. Extremely unfortunate since the decor & vibe is beautiful. Juliana was wonderful & understanding of the situation too!View more

We had a show at place des Arts & we were looking for somewhere to go eat before. A few weeks we had went to Hanzo & they had told us that they are working together, so we decided to give it a try. They have the same menu only a few different stuff. We got the Hasu chicken & we loved the sauce was very good, it was sweet yet spicy. The candied salmon were good, they were fried, crispy on the outside & soft on the inside. I wasn't a big fan of the sliced beef(I didn't like a cubed beef) nor the pork ribs, I would not get them again(it was too heavy). The restaurant was busy, & our waitress Juliana was really nice, we both had ordered some bloody Ceasar are the beginning & felt like it was watered down or a missing ingredient, she was really nice to make us new ones herself & checked on us so many times to make sure everything was good for us. I find that she was really friendly & nice, she was exceptional.View more
