Guests often highlight the thick, decadent, and flavorful nature of the treats, frequently drawing favorable comparisons to iconic bakeries in other major cities. Beyond the impressive selection of pastries and coffee, the atmosphere is often described as cozy and welcoming, complemented by a staff that is consistently noted for being friendly, passionate, and helpful. I can't get enough of this place. Everytime i go it's always a treat. I've tried so many of their different cookies (& famous cinnamon bun of course) & I've never once been disappointed!
My favorite so far has to be the brownie/Blondie cookie, it was so delicious, & it was the perfect sweet treat! The staff is also always so kind & smiling, they've never led me a stray with their recommendations. This is definitely one of my go to spots for when I want to indulge in a GOOD sweet treat🍵🍪
Bernice is a really solid bakery with some standout items.
Their brioche is basically a cinnamon-roll cousin - super moist, fluffy, & indulgent. It does lean on the sweeter side, but if you like rich pastries, it hits the spot.
The blueberry coffee cake is an absolute 10/10 - soft, crumbly, perfectly balanced, & honestly one of the best things I've had there. My only complaint is that it's not available nearly as often as I wish it were. The cinnamon coffee cake is also delicious, though it can be a bit dense at times compared to the blueberry.
The cookies are very much Levain-style: thick, crispy on the outside, super moist inside. I tried a variety - double chocolate, chocolate chip, cranberry white chocolate, funfetti - but most were very sweet, to the point where I couldn't finish them. The standout for me was the chocolate chip with pecans; the nuts cut the sweetness perfectly & made it much more balanced.
My only real downside: the price. Around $40 for six cookies feels steep, even for high-quality baking.
That said, Bernice clearly knows what they're doing. If you're into rich, indulgent baked goods & don't mind a sweeter profile, it's worth a visit - especially if you can get your hands on that blueberry coffee cake.
Every single cake, cookie, cinnamon bun is to die for. The coffee & the matcha is so amazing. Bernice is by far my absolutely favourite bakery. I dream about their dessert 24/7. Highly recommend ALL their cakes
An involved & creative owner offering unique & delicious brioche roll creations. A must try for anyone who's a fan of cinnamon rolls. The true star for me was the chocolate brioche roll & I'll definitely be coming back to try what's new.
Such a good cinnamon roll! I did spend a pretty penny of 4 cinnamon rolls but it was worth it since everyone enjoyed it!
Place is very clean, & the people there are very friendly! We got there around 10:30/11am on a rainy Sunday morning & there was only 3 people ahead of us but after 3 minutes in line, the line behind us grew substantially!
They were very good with replenishing their stock but I would go early just incase.
There is space in there to eat but the seats so fill up, we ended up taking our stuff to go!
This place is absolutely INSANE. Run there right now & that way you can burn off the calories you will not regret consuming at this bakery also known as heaven on earth. The cinnamon buns are the best I've eaten & the cookies so decadent & over the top in the best way possible. My boyfriend & I went this morning & were already trying to rationalize to ourselves an acceptable time frame to go back & get everything they have to offer. It IS that bakery!
