Barranco is a modern Peruvian cuisine restaurant located in the heart of Plateau Mont-Royal on Saint-Denis Street. It offers authentic flavors thanks to several products imported directly from Peru.
Barranco MTL gets high marks for fresh, flavorful Peruvian cuisine, with standout ceviche, octopus, lomo saltado, and arroz con mariscos, plus creative cocktails and indulgent desserts. The atmosphere is lively, colorful, and welcoming, making it a great spot for celebrations, casual nights out, or terrace brunch, with a warm, attentive service that often makes guests feel well cared for. The menu blends Peruvian street food with refined touches, and portions are generous, though a few notes mention busier times can bring slower service and some noise. Drinks are a highlight, from authentic pisco sours to inventive mocktails, and the overall experience is described as memorable and worth returning for. Reservations are recommended to avoid waiting, and the team is consistently praised for knowledge of the menu and thoughtful recommendations. It’s frequently described as authentic, vibrant, and delicious, with many guests feeling transported to Lima by the flavors, ambiance, and friendly staff. Barranco MTL stands out as a top pick for those seeking high-quality Peruvian cuisine in Montreal, with a lively vibe that invites sharing and good times.
Food & cocktails are ok but nothing special. Some of the dishes were too salty as well. We did not get a chance to try the desserts because of the 2 hour time limit. Music is too loud to have a proper conversation.

First time trying Peruvian cuisine, we loved the experience overall. Ceviche was definitely a must try, a classic Peruvian food. It was nice, good but not excellent, therefore I would say 4/5 for food, yet I & my sister enjoyed the meal, services & vibe, therefore we would give 5 stars in general.

😢 Expensive for a Terrible Service 😢 My mum is visiting me from Mexico for a week, so we are trying to plan our dinners very carefully. On July 22nd, 2024 we were served by a waitress named Daria (I hope I remember the name correctly. She was a 20s-30s young lady, with a bit red hair, & she didn't speak Spanish). The atmosphere was great - the management did a great job! Although the portions appeared small for the price, & mine was a bit oversalted - the food could be rated as Ok. As for the service: After getting the bill, we left the money (cash) on the table with significant tips. As we were leaving the restaurant, a few steps away from the table, we were stopped by our waitress with the question "Have you paid?". I want to make it very clear: she didn't ask if we need a credit card machine. She asked if we had paid. 3 meters away from our table with cash on it. My mum is a 55+ years respectable woman. We were devastated by the waitress's question & attitude. It was the first time I was ever asked this question. If my mum were not there, I'd return to the table (3 meters away) & take the tips back. Instead, I chose to write a review here to prevent others from such experiences. To the owner of the restaurant: for the love of God, please consider additional training for the staff NOT to ruin customers' evenings. I don't know how this restaurant got 4.5 stars on Google, or how it accepts this behaviour of the staff, but the night was pretty much ruined for me & my mum :(
