Barranco is a modern Peruvian cuisine restaurant located in the heart of Plateau Mont-Royal on Saint-Denis Street. It offers authentic flavors thanks to several products imported directly from Peru.
Barranco MTL gets high marks for fresh, flavorful Peruvian cuisine, with standout ceviche, octopus, lomo saltado, and arroz con mariscos, plus creative cocktails and indulgent desserts. The atmosphere is lively, colorful, and welcoming, making it a great spot for celebrations, casual nights out, or terrace brunch, with a warm, attentive service that often makes guests feel well cared for. The menu blends Peruvian street food with refined touches, and portions are generous, though a few notes mention busier times can bring slower service and some noise. Drinks are a highlight, from authentic pisco sours to inventive mocktails, and the overall experience is described as memorable and worth returning for. Reservations are recommended to avoid waiting, and the team is consistently praised for knowledge of the menu and thoughtful recommendations. It’s frequently described as authentic, vibrant, and delicious, with many guests feeling transported to Lima by the flavors, ambiance, and friendly staff. Barranco MTL stands out as a top pick for those seeking high-quality Peruvian cuisine in Montreal, with a lively vibe that invites sharing and good times.
Went with colleagues for a little 5 à 7 & we stayed till almost midnight. The service was excellent, Nina was great. The food was okay… I had high expectations I guess. I was disappointed that their tasting menu only had 1 ceviche out of at least 6 dishes. Definitely would order differently, I personally would not recommend the tasting menu, the portions are generous but the options underwhelming. The only other dish I enjoyed was the octopus over potatoes & avocado, the ceviche mahi was great. They served fried sea food that had potential to be good but came at the end of the meal when we were full. The beef was ok. 2 dishes with potato wedges is also too much in my opinion when you have so much to showcase on your menu. Please reimagine the tasting menu. The dessert was great too. The ambiance & vibes were great!

I absolutely loved this place.
We were two & shared a few dishes: the Taquitos Chicharrón (sooo good - they come with three but you can add an extra), the Yuquitas (delicious but a bit heavy, so perfect to share), & the Ceviche Clásico, which was my personal favorite (gotta love lime). For dessert, we had the Crème Brûlée de Lúcuma.
For drinks I tried the Chicha Sour, made with their homemade pisco. Loved it so much I ordered a second one.
Beyond the amazing food & ambiance, the service truly stood out. You can tell they're proud of what they serve & really care about the overall experience.
Definitely a place you need to try!
We expected this place to be good, but it surpassed our expectations. It was our first time here, Valentine's Day dinner, & everything was perfect. The ceviche & limo saltado were amazing, as were the patacones. We tried a few different cocktails, they are a bit pricey but they were all prepared with care & didn't cheap out on the spirits. Our waitress was super attentive, the music was great & the general vibe if the place is just very upbeat & positive. Prices are about what your expect but can ramp up quickly with the drinks. Highly recommend everything we tried here, especially the ceviche clasicó & the lomo saltado.

Service was nice, the place was nice, but the food, while seemingly well cooked, was nothing special. Both my companion & I thought it was just fine. Certainly nothing to write home about. Granted, maybe if we had taken the ceviche, things would have been different. My cocktail was okay, seemed imaginative on paper, but essentially ended up tasting like a very expensive Sangria. I feel like this place promises a lot but does not deliver. Not sure what the hype is about.

This place always hits the spot whenever I'm craving Peruvian ceviche. The best kind of ceviche in my opinion. Presentation, atmosphere & service always on point.
If you're looking for a transportive culinary experience in Montreal, look no further than Barranco. I recently lunched here with a friend, & from start to finish, it was nothing short of exceptional.
Let's start with the service: it was impeccable. Our server was warmly polite, knowledgeable about the menu, & efficiently attentive without ever being intrusive. It set the perfect tone for a relaxed yet refined meal.
Now, the food-where Barranco truly shines. We began with the Ceviche Clásico. This is not merely a dish; it's a vibrant event on a plate. The description from the menu is spot-on: it's a declaration. The mahi-mahi was pristine & literally seemed to'dance' in the electrifying leche de tigre, which was the perfect balance of frais & acide. The crunch from the cancha corn & the sweet contrast of the patate douce made every bite a symphony of texture & flavour. We couldn't resist adding the fried calamari on top-a brilliant, crispy addition that complemented the ceviche beautifully.
For our main, we shared the Arroz con Mariscos. This was a masterpiece of coastal Peruvian comfort, elevated to fine dining. The rice, cooked in a rich, creamy sauce of aji panka & shrimp bisque, had the luxurious consistency of a risotto. Packed with tender mussels, calamari, & octopus, & enriched with edamame, red peppers, cream, & parmesan, it was deeply flavourful & utterly satisfying. The fresh salsa criolla on top cut through the richness with a bright, refreshing note.
Every element was a testament to authentic technique & incredible freshness. Our lunch at Barranco was more than a meal; it was a memorable journey to the coasts of Peru, right in the heart of Montreal. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough & will certainly be returning to explore more of their menu. An absolute gem!
We were sat at the bar which wasn't ideal since our service was spotty. The food had a nice presentation style, the ceviche, pio pio tacos & plantain chips were good, but the lamb shank tasted a bit gamey for our liking, & the drinks were fancy.
It is the first place where I've tried ceviche & do not regret the least, it was delicious. The staff was very nice & highly responsive. I ordered the Chaufita con su chicharron, it was very good & well portionned. Also tried their mocktails'El mentiroso' &'Grapefruit Chicha', they were both delicious! The grapefruit one is probably my favorite

Went for the Mtl a Table event. Menu consisted of an appetizer, main & dessert, for $50. I had the grilled octopus, the mahi mahi ceviche & the chocolate mousse. Everything was good. There were 4 of us so we got to try everything on that menu. The brussels sprouts were surprisingly good. The fried rice was a bit too salty. But all in all a pleasant meal. Service was great. Our waitress was so friendly.
Le ceviche & la tarte fromage & coulis fruit de la passion sont absolument délicieux & le service courtois, chaleureux & professionnel. J'ai adoré y aller & savoure chaque bouchée. Merci !!
Thank you to the Cooks, Chef & Bartenders.
My partner & I sat at the bar in front of a beautiful wall of cocktail garnishes & soaked in the atmosphere. This is by far my favorite Peruvian restaurant in Canada that I've had the pleasure of eating & drinking at for the authenticity. Even the music was at level where you were not yelling but also enjoying & hearing your partner.
The Mahi Mahi ceviche was incredible down to the detailed cocktails & friendly bar staff. Will most certainly come back.
