Barranco is a modern Peruvian cuisine restaurant located in the heart of Plateau Mont-Royal on Saint-Denis Street. It offers authentic flavors thanks to several products imported directly from Peru.
Barranco MTL gets high marks for fresh, flavorful Peruvian cuisine, with standout ceviche, octopus, lomo saltado, and arroz con mariscos, plus creative cocktails and indulgent desserts. The atmosphere is lively, colorful, and welcoming, making it a great spot for celebrations, casual nights out, or terrace brunch, with a warm, attentive service that often makes guests feel well cared for. Reservations are recommended to avoid waiting, and the team is consistently praised for knowledge of the menu and thoughtful recommendations. It’s frequently described as authentic, vibrant, and delicious, with many guests feeling transported to Lima by the flavors, ambiance, and friendly staff. Barranco MTL stands out as a top pick for those seeking high-quality Peruvian cuisine in Montreal, with a lively vibe that invites sharing and good times.
My family & I travelled from Toronto to enjoy MTL food & culture. Barranco was chosen by my wife to celebrate her birthday, & the place did not disappoint. The food was terrific, we loved the cevice , grilled octopus & the chiccarone tacos. The drinks were also very good, they had designer mocktails for the kids to enjoy.
We want to thank Nabila for her excellent recommendations & service hospitality. She was very attentive to our needs & provided us with a wonderful celebration!

Excellent experience at Barranco MTL on every level. The director Shaheen truly knows how to receive his guests. Wonderful food & wonderful drinks. 10/10 would recommend

If you're looking for a transportive culinary experience in Montreal, look no further than Barranco. I recently lunched here with a friend, & from start to finish, it was nothing short of exceptional.
Let's start with the service: it was impeccable. Our server was warmly polite, knowledgeable about the menu, & efficiently attentive without ever being intrusive. It set the perfect tone for a relaxed yet refined meal.
Now, the food-where Barranco truly shines. We began with the Ceviche Clásico. This is not merely a dish; it's a vibrant event on a plate. The description from the menu is spot-on: it's a declaration. The mahi-mahi was pristine & literally seemed to'dance' in the electrifying leche de tigre, which was the perfect balance of frais & acide. The crunch from the cancha corn & the sweet contrast of the patate douce made every bite a symphony of texture & flavour. We couldn't resist adding the fried calamari on top-a brilliant, crispy addition that complemented the ceviche beautifully.
For our main, we shared the Arroz con Mariscos. This was a masterpiece of coastal Peruvian comfort, elevated to fine dining. The rice, cooked in a rich, creamy sauce of aji panka & shrimp bisque, had the luxurious consistency of a risotto. Packed with tender mussels, calamari, & octopus, & enriched with edamame, red peppers, cream, & parmesan, it was deeply flavourful & utterly satisfying. The fresh salsa criolla on top cut through the richness with a bright, refreshing note.
Every element was a testament to authentic technique & incredible freshness. Our lunch at Barranco was more than a meal; it was a memorable journey to the coasts of Peru, right in the heart of Montreal. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough & will certainly be returning to explore more of their menu. An absolute gem!
Never disappointed to be back in Montreal & at Barranco Restaurant! This is our 5th time coming here, & it's still our favorite spot in Canada. This time we also tried Piel Canela for their brunch - 5/5 stars as well! Please open a location in Toronto!
This is the second time I come to Barranco. Both times were for a birthday & both times they did something special. Food & drinks are terrific. Our waitress Nabila was very attentive & kind. I recommend!

It was my first time at Barranco & first time trying peruvian cuisine & it was delicious! Our waitress Heloise had a super chill vibe & made the experience very comfortable for us. We sat on the terrace & the weather was perfect. The classic ceviche was fantastic! Would definitely go again! 😁
Absolutely buzzing spot, Barranco MTL is where the soul of Peru meets the heart of Le Plateau!
First off, the ceviche here is a star. Fresh, vibrant, & packed with flavor, easily one of the best ceviches in Montreal, hands down. If you're a ceviche lover, you can't miss this.
Beyond ceviche, the menu is a playful blend of Peruvian street food & gourmet flair. Causas, salchipapas, & even burgers get the Peruvian treatment. The octopus & arroz con mariscos are crowd-pleasers.
The cocktail game is strong. Pisco sours, maracuja sours, & creative mixes like the spicy mango sour or chilcano are crafted with care & served with flair.
Now, the vibe: it's lively, colorful, & a bit noisy-just like the Barranco district in Lima. Perfect for a night out with friends, a weekend brunch, or a romantic evening.
Whether you're Peruvian, a foodie, or just looking for a great time, Barranco MTL is a must-visit.
Book ahead, or try your luck at the bar for a late-night bite-you won't regret it! 🌟🇵🇪🍹
Ordered the crispy cauliflower to share with my friend & Ceviche Barranco as the main dish. The crispy cauliflower was good but the Ceviche Barranco was way too sour for me. 😅
Barranco never disappoints! I've been 4 times already & the quality of their food is always on point. Their drinks are also very good, I recommend you try the maracuya sour!
