one of my favourite restaurants!! highly recommend their pistachio latte & matcha, focaccia & pappardelle (if it's available) but tbh their whole menu is insane so you really can't go wrong with anything
The ricotta & honey focaccia was 100/10 & the tiramisu was perfect
Everything was very good including the service, would definitely go back!
Les pâtes aux crevettes sont excellantes!! Les aranchini sont très bon! Bon service, beau café. J'ai adoré!!
we finally decided it was time to investigate for ourselves.
Sometimes the magic isn't in reinventing the wheel. Everything here feels simple at first glance, but the details matter, & you can taste it.
There is, objectively speaking, nothing revolutionary about the combination of focaccia with ricotta & honey. & yet-holy crap. The bread was impossibly soft, the ricotta fresh, & the drizzle of honey tied it together so beautifully that biting into it felt like munching on a savory cloud.
I had never had fried olives before, which now feels like a personal oversight that I intend to correct for the rest of my life, especially when served with a dangerously good blue cheese dip that made it nearly impossible to stop eating them.
& of course, there was wine. Because… well, duh.
Now, I'll be honest: I'm no wine connoisseur. I can usually tell if a wine is dry & I can occasionally pick up a note or two, but beyond that, my professional assessment is generally'this tastes good.' Everything we tried paired beautifully with the snacks-which is really the only expertise required for a very good evening.
The service was top-notch, the atmosphere effortlessly charming, & the entire experience left us wondering why it took us so long to finally make it here.
But at least now we know why everyone's been talking about it for years.
The honey ricotta focaccia is to die for!!! The bucatini was also very good, they definitely don't skimp out on the shrimp! The only thing is that it went over our spicy food tolerance hahah. Last but not least, the amaretto sour was delicious!
Our servers were very welcoming & friendly, & the ambiance was just lovely. Great selection of songs, especially if you like 90s music :)
The only things you should be mindful of:
- Be prepared to wait for a good 20-30min
- They might put you on a shared table - bit awkward if you're going on a first date, but otherwise fine!
We came for lunch & the standout was the focaccia special. It had vegetables on top & I don't even like vegetables but it was so good we ordered another. The cacio e Pepe was alright, nothing special. The restaurant is really clean & has a great interior!
Edit: j'y suis retournée pour le brunch. la sandwich aux figues & le latte pepe ARE TO DIE FOR!!
Food was great it took the shrimp pasta, bus music was way too loud to speak comfortably. The service was questionable took 10-15 min to come to come take our order. Again same thing for the payement took 10-15 min before they noticed us & come with the receipt.
I ordered this bread while waiting for a table. It was so delicious, absolutely amazing! The vibe of restaurant is good too, highly recommended!
GET THE FOCACCIA!!! This place was yummy & man was that focaccia out of this world. Great atmosphere to grab some drinks & food or even go for dinner. Arancini was excellent as well.
Went in for lunch one time since everyone talks about this place & I'm in the area. Had the weakest muffuletta I've had in my entire life. I guess, I'm not the target audience since I don't really care for decor. But I can see how instagram sensitive people would like this. Then again, there's Elena right down the street.
Bar Bara is absolutely fantastic. The cacio e pepe is a true classic, perfectly creamy & flavorful every time, & the focaccia is always insane, soft, airy, & packed with flavor.
Be aware that there are no reservations, so be prepared to wait, but it's totally worth it. A must-visit spot
$130 later for lunch & STILL HUNGRY . The crudo was one scallop cut in 4 pieces . Very disappointing. Pasta portion very small .
