We tried an assortment of things, the Bao buns were my favourite & the dumplings were my friends favourite. I'd go back just for the boa buns. The nigiri assorted plate was amazing, the next best thing to being back in Japan. The cod cheeks were just okay, I liked how they were prepared though, never tried cod cheeks before but it was likely the best possible presentation & combination of flavors, nice & light tasting. The miso old fashioned was OUT of this world! Best cocktail ever, I had to order two. Parked at Atwater market, short walk. Service was next level, super impressed, wiped down the table between each service, super friendly. They refilled our water even though the bottle was left on the table. Hard to come by good service like this. For the price point this stood out to me. Easy to get a table at 630 on Friday, place was packed by 730. Thank you for a memorable evening ❤️
Truly top notch service. The yuzu lemonade was delicious, & so was the karaage. The rest was just okay. We had the torched salmon sushi which was fine, the crab baos which were overly salty & mostly tasted like soy sauce, & the open sushi rolls that were honestly quite bland. The yuzu dessert was really not good. The cheesecake was overly compact & sweet.
It's a chic restaurant close to the STM & extremely charming. The duck bun bao is absolutely incredible. The miso octopus is great as well. The sushi dishes are interesting & the menu is full of unique options.
I went there for Valentine's Day & had a great night there. The food was really good & surprised me. Especially the katsudon, i did not expect the pork to be this big & still be juicy inside. The other meals also packed a lot of flavour & only made me want to have more. The place itself was not cramped & it was not too noisy. I would definitely go back there again!
Amazing Japanese food selection, fresh sashimi, chirashi options & crab bao. Absolutely love the Grape Republic wine selection. Wish more people new about this place so they would get the traffic they deserve ❤️
Came here on a date with my wife & enjoyed my time here. While it's not a restaurant I'm exactly willing to drive out of way for, I'm still very happy to have tried it. We ordered the hand rolls, the salmon baos & the mazemen. Everything tasted delicious, but I thought everything was either too small of a portion or way too expensive. My favorite dish was the salmon Bao, which come in a set of 2. The flavors complimented eachother really nicely & the bun was homemade fresh, which you can taste right away. The hand rolls are good, but was way too expensive. The noodles we got as the main dish were very good, though a bit on the oily side. The whole thing was $120 after tax & we didn't order any drinks.
Extraordinarily small portions of adequately prepared mains & starters, at a price that screams "our rent is too high", served in a pleasantly decorated locale. Bring a phone to text others at your table as the sound levels tend reach a volume where voice conversation impossible. Strongly suggest that you skip the desserts, unless you are a fan of poorly prepared desserts void of any imagination. You can do a lot better than Otto. I am dubious of other reviews as most of the clients seemed to be there to pose with their food for Insta selfies. I suspect most may have never tried the food ordered after photographed.

I regret not capturing photos, but the experience was simply outstanding. The service was exceptional; they checked for allergies, & once confirmed, we placed our order. Everything was delightful & refreshing. The flavors were sophisticated & carefully crafted. We savored dishes like the Piri Kara Nasu, a fried eggplant marinated in miso soy sauce with chili, served cold, as well as shrimp & pork dumplings, & the chef's choice sashimi.
All the ingredients are very fresh which makes every bite an incredible experience. Definitely on the more expensive side & a bit of a wait between dishes, but it attests to the detail & care they put into their food. Great service as well. Personally wasn't a huge fan of the eggplant but the rest was top tier. I will definitely be back to relive some of the great bites, & discover new ones.
Very surprised by all the strong reviews. I had high expectations & they fell flat. The crab bun had good flavor but the crab was tiny & had practically no meat. It just added crunch to the bun. The sashimi platter disappointed me the most. It says it comes with 10 pieces, with 2 slices of each fish. The slices were so thin & small that it was as if they took a slice meant for 1 person & sliced it again. Uni mazamen had a clumpy creamy sauce that didn't taste like much. Uni & Ikura were not fresh at all. With that being said, service was great! Cozy place.
I've been eating at Bar OTTO for over a year now & I'm never disappointed. The food is always amazing & the menu changes seasonally. Their sake selection is one of my favourites. So many restaurants have a very poor choices but not here. They deal with two of the best sake distributors in the city so they always have amazing bottles to offer. Marie-Pierre & the rest of the wait staff are top notch & friendly. You should add this to your go to list 🙌🏼
