One of the worst dining experiences of my life. I came to have dinner here for best friends birthday two nights ago, we had terrible service, we were ridiculed & insulted by the staff. They are still open because of their location & terrace. Don't let their good reviews fool you, there's better restaurants if you continue walking down on Laurier & on St-laurent street. They have no respect for their customers.
This is what happened.
They sat my friends & I down at the bar because there was no space else. We were four. We put our name down for a table. For an hour, we saw other groups of people getting tables, while we were four stuck at the bar. The waitress finally came to my friend to tell us we had a table on the terrace. My friend said she had asked for a table indoors. The waitress said there wasn't any table available, my friend corrected her & said we saw her seating groups for the passed hour indoors. My friend asked kindly to not be lied to, the waitress apologised. We then got sat & had been waiting to order food. We asked three waiters before getting our menus outside. I then ordered a rose which took 40 minutes to get, the same one I had indoors, might I add. I had to ask three different people to get it. We finally ordered. Also took an additional 30 minutes to receive our food. Quality of food is good, not the best quality. We finally complain that we had been waiting for hours for our food & drinks & the waitress to apologise comes w tequila shooters. They were terrible. We ask to pay, the bills had to be corrected 3 times before they were correct. We asked to speak to the manager because we had enough at this point. The most experienced waiter comes & tells us he didn't see anything but he'll gives us more shots, he comes back 20 minutes later to say he can't they won't let him give us shots. We said this was ridiculous & we wanted to speak to the manager. Him & the other waitress who served us left us laughing & went inside.
At this point we're beside ourselves, they send another waiter & the co-owner comes, which is the same co-owner of taverne Atlantic (another Montreal restaurant that has no respect for their customers). They said they can't do anything for us because they didn't see what happened, we said we're unhappy & we'll leave a bad review. They said sorry & they will come back on the terrace with the number of the owner. They never did come back. Here we are.
Had high expectations on this establishment & started off our Thursday night here. However, it was extremely disappointing. We got a seat quickly but then didn't get served for 15mins. Once the cocktails arrived we saw our server 2 min later asking how the drinks were & then never saw him again. We wanted to get another drink & something to eat but no one came to see us. 35 mins later a new server came by & we asked for the bill. Took another 10mins to pay.
I am assuming that the establishment didn't want us to spend money so we decided to go somewhere else. Maybe it was a bad day or we were in between shift changes. Too bad, the establishment is very nice & have a great terrasse. Would have loved to try more things.
Atmosphere was rowdy & fun for a late afternoon drink. However most of the guests I was accompanied by were late to be served their drinks. Most of the waiters seemed clueless to our demands & we had to wait nearly 20-30minutes for a few drinks. Overall seems like a fun place but they lacked service soundness.
Definitely disappointed. My octopus was overcooked & was like chewing a tire (potatoes were good tho), my drink was cleared before I was finished, & the manager kept turning up the music until all parties around me were shouting at the top of their lungs to their dinner companions. Who goes here?
Bar Henrietta is a nook of security & kindness in an otherwise intense bar scene in Mile End. The food was excellent & the drinks were lovely. We had the gnocchi, piri piri chicken, ceviche, popcorn, & cookie. Highlights were the ceviche & cookie. the cucumber cocktail was amazing. the pilsner is simple & elegant. one of our waiters had great knowledge of the wine which was really nice to see. all the staff were chatty & lovely. great energy.
afterwards we went to get a beer at Dieu du Ciel bar down the road & the energy was so bad we came STRAIGHT BACK TO BAR HENRIETTA.
One of my favourite places to dine at & have some drinks in Montreal! I love that the plates are small & great for sharing. They have some incredible raw fish dishes that are to die for! Especially the raw scallops they currently have on the menu 🤤 it's mind blowing that they have yet to be featured on canadas best 100 restaurants!
Nous avons eu un super barman colin qui a été super avec nous. Je n'ai pas aimé mon drink & il l'a pris mal m'a proposé d'autre alternative selon mes goûts !
Very much enjoyed Bar Henrietta. It's a lovely & lively bar that serves great drinks. The service is, refreshingly, its biggest asset. The food was delicious, albeit a little pricey for it's portion size.
Amazing vibes overall, though the music was a bit too loud for comfortable conversation. The drinks were good, & the popcorn was the highlight of my visit. I had the gnocchi, which was okay. My friends ordered a chicken dip with bread (I don't remember the exact name), & it was amazing. I'd say this is a great place for good vibes & a few drinks.
