You need to come here in the fall, eat beef wellington, then go home & watch practical magic OR hocus pocus!!!! Really nice people.View more
I was recently in Montréal to record some new music &, before arriving, I had already scoped out Bar George as a possible dinner spot. On one of my morning walks - my favorite way to clear my head & find inspiration - I passed by the restaurant & was immediately struck by the stunning building it's housed in: the historic Le Mount Stephen Hotel. It blends old-world charm with modern elegance in the best way.
That evening, I returned for dinner with a friend, & from the moment we stepped in, the staff made us feel right at home. The menu was creative & inviting, the decor a bold & beautiful mix of British tradition with a distinctly Quebecois flair - & the food? Absolutely next-level. Every dish was a standout.
Bar George isn't just a meal; it's an experience - one I'd recommend to anyone visiting Montréal. First class all around.

Would be one star if not for their brunch, which can be quite nice.
First time eating dinner here & wow, what a let down. The prices are outrageous, you can eat at some of the finest restaurants in Montreal for less.
The food was tasty, but was hard to enjoy given the poor service leading up to it. The restaurant was not even busy, but our cocktails took an hour to reach the table. The drinks we ordered with our food came when we were already done eating both courses.
I can't remember the last time a higher end restaurant charged for bread ($10), so you can imagine the disappointment when the bread was stale & unappetizing.
Overall, easily the top 3 worst Montreal restaurant experiences I've had in the last few years.View more
A beautiful place to visit because of the stunning architecture & original interior design of this old mansion. The new decor is a bit odd though.View more
Visited Bar George for lunch, drawn in by its elegant, chic atmosphere & appealingly simple menu. The interior is stunning richly decorated with that classic'old money' vibe that makes the whole experience feel elevated.
We sat at the bar & ordered the Hamburger & Butler Steak. While there was a bit of a wait, both dishes were absolutely worth it. Everything looked, smelled, & tasted fantastic. The burger was delicious, though the bun could've held up better-but that didn't take away from how much we enjoyed it.
Service was top-notch. Huge thanks to Jonathan at the bar for the complimentary espresso such a nice touch!
Definitely planning to return for dinner soon!View more
Food was great! The beet salad, lobster risotto & the wellington but the steak tartare wasn't that great. The service was also amazing but the food came a bit too slow & a bit too pricey in my opinion.View more
A uniquely atmospheric bar with gothic allure & a sense of hidden history.View more
The occasion was my birthday. The building, interior design & atmosphere are fantastic. The dj rocked it.
We stood in line for several minutes & when we told the host our name for the reservation, there was no smile or welcome... but her first words were'We are booked solid tonight so you have a two hour table limit'. Well, hello to you, too. We were instantly unsettled. It was a rainy night & we were taken to our table. I asked if they could please check our wet coats, since they had clearly no interest in taking them from us.
The waiters were cold & efficient & just anxious to get our orders & get out of there. The ONLY warmth we experienced was from the delightful bartender in the corner of the room who came over & chatted for a few moments.
The food was very good.
We just weren't feeling it.
I'm glad we went, once.
But I want to feel valued as a customer, & alas, I did not. I felt like a two top table that had to be turned quickly.
There are warmer, friendlier places to spend our money.
Again, food was very good, as were cocktails & bottle of wine.
So sad about the rest.View more
I visited Bar George about a week ago for our first dinner celebrating a dear friend's bachelorette weekend. The entire experience was amazing, & our server David was a dream! He took or drink & food orders seamlessly (for a party of 10) & was so attentive & knowledgeable. He truly made our dinner perfect. Highly recommend this place for a celebration dinner.View more

Bar George is one of those rare places… In all cities wherever I am in the world, I think of Bar George as the high bar. Can other places exceed it? With great difficulty. Most fall short. Not hyperbole, simply an observation/reflection on the excellence Bar George demands of itself. The cocktails are extraordinary. The food is inspired. The atmosphere nearly unmatched. On a date, closing a business deal, celebrating an occasion? Bar George. Enough said.View more
Belle expérience, nourriture de qualité, & service professionnelView more
Overpriced. $70 for gnocchi is outrageous. The decor is stunning. Beautiful restaurant & nice plating, but the food is nothing to brag about. We ordered chips to munch on while waiting for our friends & they were store bought chips (crumbs from the bottom of the bag) just thrown in a bowl. The food is good but you're paying for the ambiance more than anything.View more
