Stepping into this gem of a restaurant, we were immediately enveloped by a warm & welcoming atmosphere. The service was nothing short of impeccable, with each staff member exhibiting a keen attention to detail that set the stage for a perfect dinner. Our waiter, notably knowledgeable about the wine selections, expertly paired the perfect wine- enhancing the evening's culinary journey. Chef Donnel English is a master. His creations were simply out of this world, each dish a testament to refined skill & creativity. The gourmet gnocchi, hands down, ranks among the top three in the world that I have tried. pillowy, perfectly seasoned, & just sublime. This dining experience was a flawless blend of sophisticated flavors & exceptional service, truly a night to remember. During my visit to Montreal for the Solar Eclipse, I had the chance to eat at Bar George, set in a historic building that feels like stepping back into the 19th century with its decor & vibe. The place has a warm & nostalgic feel, making it a really cool spot to dine. We ordered the Beef Wellington & the lobster risotto, both of which were standout dishes. The Beef Wellington was exceptional, perfectly cooked with flavorful mushrooms enveloped in the pastry, & served alongside sweet potato purée & peppercorn sauce. Although it was my first time trying Beef Wellington, it impressed me greatly & set a high standard. However, I discovered that my favorite cut of steak isn't typically used in Beef Wellington, so this might be my one & only experience with it-likely remaining unbeaten at the top of my list. The lobster risotto was equally remarkable. The risotto was perfectly cooked to a creamy consistency, neither too runny nor too stiff, which really allowed the flavors to shine. It was topped with four generous pieces of lobster claw meat, making each spoonful a luxurious treat. The lobster was fresh & cooked just right, providing a succulent contrast to the rich, creamy rice. The balance of flavors & textures made this dish a memorable part of our meal. The total came to almost 200 CAD (including tip), but given the quality of the food & the unique setting, it was totally worth it.View more

Great bar / restaurant in old gentleman's club & part of boutique hotel. We had late brunch menu & food was lovely - burgers & sourdough / avocado on toast. Wine particularly good. Shame we couldn't eat off the a la carte which looked excellent, but overall we had a great time. Waiter was brilliant too - sorry I can't remember his name.View more

10/10. I love it here & will keep going back. Great food, wine & cocktail selection. Can't go wrong with steak tartare & champagne. It's the perfect place to take a friend or a few if you want to impress them. Though I don't mind the dining hall, I prefer the bar & surrounding area which is always buzzing & allows you to take in the stunning interiors all around. Also a great spot during F1 season.View more

We had an incredible experience at Bar George for Sunday Brunch with our family. Our server Mateus was exceptional. The restaurant was so kind they even let us bring out little dog Quita. The truffle scrambled eggs are a must. The bread basket was divine! This restaurant is a must when you're in Montreal. We will definitely be back!View more

Had an amazing night at Bar George. If you're from the South, say hi to the guy Jalen from Georgia at the front. Solid dude. Plan on dropping some cash & not regretting it. Our server Kevin was fantastic. He loves to talk about the menu like I love to hear about it. Couldn't ask for a better atmosphere. Every dish was right on point. Also, I'm batting 1,000 on being right about ordering fries at fancy restaurants. Cocktails, oysters, buratta with sunchokes, mushroom soup, fries, lobster risotto, Beef Wellington, Mont Blanc (nice light show), & intense chocolate.....every plate cleaned. Finish with an Irish coffee to be able to get out of there!View more

Bar attenant à un hôtel boutique, le Bar George impressionne avec sa décoration intérieure soigneusement préservée parce que c'était longtemps un club privé réservé aux gens qui pissent de l'argent hérité de leur famille. Aujourd'hui ouvert au public, l'atmosphère intérieure d'époque est unique à Montréal & probablement aussi au Canada. Nous y étions seulement pour des cocktails, les prix également impressionnent, allant de $15 à $30 le drink donc, l'atmosphère d'époque, ça se paie. Cannot say enough good things about Bar George. The atmosphere is funky but classy, the service is prompt & warm, & the food is scrumptious. My husband & I came here for an early Valentine's Day dinner when we stayed at Le Mount Stephen hotel. The wallpaper is fun & there are dozens of artwork strewn about the wall that makes the environment interesting. We had lovely servers. I had asked what wine might go well with my meal, & the server listed a few & then when I gave my preferences, he let me try two to see which I liked best. Keep in mind, this was just for a glass of wine not even a bottle! It made me feel cared for. We got the mushroom soup, the beet salad, the beef Wellington, & the truffle gnocchi. There was not a bad bite. The flavors went deep & were well balanced. I could've melted into the gnocchi, it was that good. Highly recommend!View more

Outstanding service from every single employee from the moment we arrived. We found that it was unlike any experience in Canada we have ever received. Zachary provided us a evening of such care & dedication. Our meals, dessert & wine choices were well crafted & such good referrals. The manager came around & served us as well. We remarked how it reminded us of The Bear season 2. Vecause we could tell so much dedication was happening. What a beautiful place. The main room is gorgeous, & the bartenders etc were so nice & friendly. It wasn't until my wife & I encountered the bar manager who told us that we couldn't record each other in the room without paying a photographer room rental fee. My wife was in movie production & knows those fees are usually thousands of dollars. It was a baseless threat the guy issued to us & put us off the place entirely. Why he behaved in such a poor manner, in such a nice place, is gross.View more

J'ai récemment brunché un dimanche midi au Bar George, & je suis absolument enchanté de partager mon expérience exceptionnelle. Mon choix s'est porté sur l'assiette Full English, & dès la première bouchée des oeufs brouillés & du boudin noir, j'ai été conquis par la délicieuse qualité & la quantité parfaite de ce plat. Mon copain a également apprécié son burger, qui était tout aussi savoureux. De plus, l'assiette de viennoiseries a évoqué des souvenirs de la France, apportant une touche spéciale à notre repas. Cependant, ce qui a vraiment rendu cette expérience mémorable, c'est le service extraordinaire de Basile, notre serveur. Sa gentillesse, son attention aux détails & sa serviabilité tout au long de notre repas étaient tout simplement exceptionnels. Basile mérite bien plus que des éloges, & il a rendu notre brunch inoubliable. En somme, le Bar George est un lieu que je recommande chaleureusement pour un brunch délicieux & un service d'une qualité rare.
