Did someone say 1$ oyster Sunday & Monday? Bar Dominion did. Fresh Oyster served with lemon & lime edges, two mignonettes & hot sauce. The cheeseburger was absolutely delicious, grilled to perfection. Great crowd & décore. Service was friendly & professional. I highly recommend a reservation.View more

Visited on July 4th around 10:30 PM.
We had a reservation for two, & the bar was half empty when we arrived. Despite that, the hostess took us to the far end of the bar, right next to the kitchen entrance, where it already smelled like fish. On the way there, we passed several available tables for two & four, & many guests were sitting in pairs at four-person tables with no issue.
We politely asked if we could move to one of the free tables, pointing out that others were sitting at larger tables too. The hostess insisted those tables were being held for larger groups. After a short back & forth, she finally agreed to seat us at a four-top (which wasn't even cleaned yet), cleaned it up, but warned us that if a party of four arrived, we'd have to move. The two-person table we were not offered remained empty.
This kind of treatment left a bad impression. The way the hostess handled it made us feel unwelcome, even though the place was far from full.
On the bright side, the cocktails were okay & the waitstaff were friendly & polite.
But honestly, we don't feel like coming back.View more

J'adore l'endroit ! Le Bar Dominion combine à merveille une ambiance élégante & décontractée, parfaite pour un 5@7 entre collègues ou amis. Les cocktails sont excellents, avec une mention spéciale pour leur Espresso Martini, finement dosé & parfaitement équilibré.

J'y suis allé pour rejoindre des amis vers 23h, les bar tender totalement focus sur nous, musique d'ambiance jouée a partir d'une collection de vinyle super, cocktails de grande qualité pour un prix tres normale. Friday evening mid to late winter. Service was excellent at table & bar. Any bar worth its weight in gold should be able to make classic cocktails. Ordered a couple of Manhattan which were top notch. Later some wine & Cava. Also good choices with the oysters & nibbles. Frequented this place in the 80´s when it was a more traditional tavern, later in the 2000's along with its sister bar the Balsam. Its most recent guise bodes well. I think if they added a better selection of craft beers it would be nice. The crowd was mixed, diverse, cross generational & upbeat. The ladies were looking mighty fine…this spot always seemed to attract a disproportionately cross section of elegant & beautiful Montreal women. This brings forth some class acts from the manly world. All this to say decent evening. The Bartenders are the real deal & so are the servers. Class act all the way. There seemed to not be any women working the joint & the men working were tight & smooth. Final note…it feels like Mtl in there.View more

This is a nicely lit cosy bar in Downtown Montreal. The decor seems to take you back to the early 20th Century. There was a good selection of cocktails but the food menu is restricted. My first main course I had to send back as it came out cold. It is a shame as I thought this was going to be better than it turned out to be.View more

Wow! What a find! The vibe is great. The food & drinks were amazing. We ate at the bar. Oliver was our bartender & gastro guide & he excelled on both fronts. The oysters were fresh & tasty, the focaccio app with the Jamon & Manchego app was a perfect combo. The salmon tartare was delicious. We could go on & on about the food but the drinks were amazing. Oliver's attention to each drink was a true master at his craft. We Highly Recommend!View more

Le bar Dominion est un incontournable pour mes amis & moi. Le décor est classe, j'aime beaucoup l'éclairage notamment au niveau des bouteilles derrière le bar (photos Instagramables garanties!) Le service est impeccable en salle avec notamment Jules & Elisa qui sont toujours aux petits soins avec nous. Au bar, Quentin a toujours le mot pour nous faire rire & est de bons conseils pour nous aider à trouver le cocktail idéal à chaque fois! Il y a également un Dj quelques soirs & la musique est juste parfaite pour créer une petite ambiance. Pour finir, le menu nourriture est varié & très appétissant, mention spéciale pour les soirées huîtres à 1$ ! Je recommande fortement cet établissement ✨View more

Ce bar a une très belle atmosphère/ambiance, le décor est très beau, mais les compliments s'arrête là malheureusement avec cet endroit. J'ai eu la chance d'essayer quelque truc sur le menu, le manger il a du goût mais pour le prix, on dirait sa ne vaut jamais la peine, j'ai mangé 3 truc en une soirée & j'avais encore très faim. Maintenant on va discuter du service, j'ai visité cet endroit à 4 occasion, à toute les fois avec la même serveuse, une dame française avec une attitude. Elle nous fais sentir comme des cons pour avoir poser des questions très simple alors qu'on demeure poli avec, en plus j'y vais tout le temps avec un groupe qui tip bien (pcq on travaille dans l'industrie on sait c'est quoi). Je peux élaborer sur mes sentiments sur cet aspect, qui franchement ruine le tout pour moi. De plus, les cocktails prennent TRÈS longtemps à faire.View more

Bon choix de cocktails, Mixologues sur place alors ils m'ont concocté un mocktail épicé à mon goût. Nous avons opté pour l'entrée à partager & tout était bon. Le service est lent même si le bar n'est pas très achalandé. L'ambiance est superbe, j'adore le décor & l'histoire de l'endroit. I've loved Bar Dominion since they opened, & truly appreciated how they brought the magic of Dominion Square Tavern into their new endeavor. When I was looking for somewhere to celebrate my birthday this year, I knew there was no other choice! Every step of making this happen was incredibly smooth - from securing a reservation for 20 people, confirming everything in the lead-up, & actually having our celebration - Dominion made it easy, & made sure we were well taken care of. The atmosphere was amazing, very old school. Customer service was great & greeted us immediately. Bar tender was cognizant & served us immediately right at the bar. We ordered the old fashioned & I will say it was mid. Could have added an orange peel, Marciano cherries & a nice clear squared ice cube. Paid $20 for this drink & it was not worth itView more

Brought some friends to town, to show them a good time. Bar Dominion was one of our highlights! The bartenders & their cocktails were top drawer. Real professionals! & they helped initiate conversations between groups of guests. We actually met up with the same people who were seated next to us, the next night! I used to love the Old Dominion, but I would say Bar Dominion is even better! Great work. Thanks so much.View more

Le bar est beau, avec une patine d'autrefois qui lui confère un charme évident. Mais le comportement du personnel, ouvertement âpre au gain, manque de finesse & est invraisemblable : on demande un conseil pour une bière ou un vin, le serveur insiste par trois fois sur le plus cher de la carte. Une entrée délicieuse de jambon & manchego est servie sans pain. Le serveur nous propose de commander de la foccacia pour 7$. On s'attend à mieux en termes de prestations dans un bar qui a des prétentions. Les factures arrivent. L'un de nous, qui a une facture de 24$, donne 30$ au serveur en espèces. Toujours ce même serveur demande si c'est complet. Le client est obligé de dire qu'il attend qu'on lui rende la monnaie. Il laisse ensuite 4$ (donc 16%) au serveur qui ne le remercie même pas. Franchement, c'est décevant. L'établissement donne l'impression d'une certaine classe, puis le personnel est ouvertement obsédé par l'argent. Un peu de classe, Messieurs!View more

The food well above expectation & an atmosphere that made for easy enjoyment. I was surprised the place was not busier given how well guests are taken car of. It used to be my playground, soooo happy it's back! The English private club style decor is still intact. Absolute must do in Montreal! Perfect place to have a drink with dr ends or a date 🥂 perfect before or after show at the Bell center. Great drinks, food to share or main meals, good selection & prices. Sitting at the bar promises a great night ahead. Still they kept the big banquette at the rear. The music could be less loud. I love it & will come back as I used to for sure! This historic bar/bistro has thankfully reopened after a pandemic induced shutdown. The menu is excellent, the food succulent, with an incredible ambiance reminiscent of 1920s Montréal. A stone's throw from the downtown SIMONS store, it is an absolute must for the traveller. ||| Ce bar/bistro historique a heureusement rouvert après une fermeture provoquée par une pandémie. Un resto que j'aimais transformé en bar N'y allez pas avec l'intention d'être assis & manger tranquillement, vous serez déçus. Belle déco, endroit plutôt adapté pour y prendre un verre sans trop s'éterniser. Bons petits plats & bons cocktails. L'endroit est cependant un tout petit peu froid si vous y allez tôt en soirée.
