I am so psyched that this finally opened up in Griffintown. Loving this concept: it's a grocery, natural products store & a bistro that serves alcoholic beverages. Healthy , hearty lunch options (like a salmon filet with quinoa, salad , veggies & nuts) that cost the same price as a big mac trio at Mc D's. Those comparing prices to other supermarkets have lost their marbles, you can't compare ORGANIC prices to grade B , pesticide infested items. & prices are very competitive: this week I purchased organic strawberries for 3.99$! As with any store you should always shop front page'sale' items . Truly a welcomed addition in the neighborhood!

J'ai été au avril jeudi soir le 9 octobre & Lili à la pâtisserie a rendu l'expérience exceptionnelle, elle a pris le temps de nous expliquer les différents gâteau & leur caractéristiques & s'exprime de façon super poli , passionné & bienveillante au point où j'ai trouver important de lui demander son nom afin de pouvoir le laisser savoir à la direction. Des employés qui ont à coeur le service client comme si c'était leur propre entreprise ça se fait rare de nos jours & les gens ne prennent pas assez le temps de le dire lorsque les commentaires sont positifs! Elle m'a certainement donné envie d'y retourner pour mes prochains besoin de gâteau! En espérant que le mot se rende à elle. Continue ton beau travail Lili.

I love this place! Not only the food & gelato is great, but the staff is always nice, especially Lilly, at the cake & gelato counter! She always goes the extra mille for small things, explains you everything & gives you the best options, on top of that she is also super generous with making you try the gelato flavours! Thankfully Avril exists, but don't get your hopes too high because this isn't a Whole Foods. Produce is generally decent, & even if it isn't amazing it's still all organic & you pay as much (but often less) than what non-organic produce costs at other stores. But selection varies weekly & they're not always fully stocked.
Again, very difficult not to compare this to better health food stores in Canada & the US, but it is what it is & it's definitely a great option over IGA/Metro/Provigo & the likes of Adonis. (barf!)
There's room for improvement for sure, but I think ultimately what might stifle the selection is the need for French packaging. There's loads of much higher quality aisle goods that you'll never get to see in QC because...le Francais. It's a shame, but it isn't the fault of Avril.

Excellent service, & toujours agréable de s'y rendre - surtout quand il n'y a pas de rénovations bruyantes à proximité 😉.
Très bon choix de produits, avec des fruits & légumes à des prix bien plus raisonnables que dans les grandes chaînes parfois. J'y ai même trouvé de l'huile d'olive extra vierge biologique à 20 $ pour 750 ml en rabais.
J'y retourne souvent, que ce soit pour un café, un gelato, des plats prêts à emporter ou simplement pour faire le plein de fruits & légumes frais.
La porte côté rue Ottawafut réparée, elle fonctionne très bien maintenant, bravo !
