Review Summary

Avocado Sushi du Village offers an intimate, cozy vibe with a pleasant date atmosphere and a level of noise that supports conversation; the service feels friendly and personal and the food is presented beautifully. The menu features inventive rolls that incorporate fresh fruit like pear, kiwi and blueberry and often use soy or rice paper instead of nori, with very fresh, mild fish and standout sashimi; traditional rolls are available alongside more unusual creations, and desserts such as matcha ice cream served in a steel martini glass and chocolate treats cap off the meal. Reservations are essential due to limited seating, and while prices are not inexpensive, many feel the freshness, quality and imaginative selection justify it, though a few experiences note inconsistent portions or a disappointing Valentine’s Day menu; overall the place is described as a gem with delicious sushi that can be highly recommended.

This restaurant is really intimate & cosy inside with a great date vibe. Because it is smaller, the noise level is not bad. You can easily have a conversation, but not so quiet where you feel everyone can hear your conversation. The service is friendly & personal & the food presentation is really pretty & elegant. The food offerings are a little different than a lot of sushi restaurants. They incorporate fresh fruit like pear slices, kiwi slices & blueberry in some of the rolls. Many of the rolls are not wrapped in nori, but in soy or rice paper. If you like sushi with lots of caviar, tempura flakes & mayonnaise, this is not for you. I found all the fish very fresh & mild. The sashimi is excellent & almost melts in your mouth. The more traditional rolls like dynamite are served with wasabi & ginger, but their more unique ones are not, but will be provided if you request it. The seafood in the rolls is generous & I had a hard time choosing a favourite. Barenaked was our table's least favourite. It did not contain any sushi rice & so for us, the texture wasn't our favourite, although the flavours were nice. I also don't love raw scallops, so for me that loses some points. The New Zealand was delicious with a slice of kiwi that made it feel so refreshing. I've heard their sushi bowls are excellent as well. Maybe next time. Finally, they have a decent dessert menu, which you don't always find in sushi restaurants. They have a matcha ice cream which is served in steel martini glass & 2 chocolate dipped pretzel type sticks. We had the chocolate mousse (delicious), pecan brownie served warm with ice cream (vanilla or coconut- we had coconut) & the matcha with a poor of green tea to finish the meal. All the desserts were fantastc & really pretty in their presentation.

I would definitely go back. Reservations are a must due to the limited seating. It's not inexpensive, but the freshness, quality & unusual, imaginative selection of rolls justified it IMO.

I've been to Avocado Sushi several times before & have always enjoyed the food, which is why this review is disappointing to write. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with a great atmosphere that makes for a lovely night out.
Unfortunately, their Valentine's Day menu truly missed the mark. The $155 price tag felt far too steep for what was offered - appetizers, 16 pieces of sushi to share, & a dessert. For that cost, we expected something much more substantial & special.
Honestly, the experience put a damper on our Valentine's Day & left us questioning whether we'll return. It's a shame, because we've had good experiences here in the past & really wanted this night to live up to those standards.

Amazing little spot in the pointe Claire village.

My daughter recommended it & it was just fantastic.

Sushi is very fresh, & they have some indicative & creative rolls not seen on other sushi menus around town. Lots of use of fruits too. One roll with kiwis, another with raspberries.

We tried about 9 different rolls this time, along with some nigiri. All were delicious & I would definitely order again.

We are not drinkers but there is a wine & cocktail menu. We went with a nice hot pot of green tea which went well with the meal.

Prices were very reasonable. Definitely not downtown sushi prices.

We ate there while the pastry chef was on vacation, so desserts were limited, but we did share a chocolate pecan brownie with ice cream. Very good as well.

Service was perfect all evening. The waitress was very attentive & friendly.
