Review Summary

Reviews of Avocado Sushi du Village paint a picture of a cozy, welcoming spot with a focus on fresh, well presented sushi and inventive flavors, with highlights like avocado tartare, salmon sashimi, and dishes such as Nantucket, Lisabel, and Asian Twist; the atmosphere and friendly service are repeatedly praised, and some diners rank it among the best sushi in Montreal. At the same time, experiences vary: several mentions of high prices for what is offered, inconsistent quality, and meals that feel underwhelming or not worth the cost, especially on special occasions; some nights are described as hot or humid with a sticky table and limited kitchen communication. Reservations are often advised due to the busy pace, and while many leave impressed by freshness and presentation or a chocolate cake in a jar, others feel the value and consistency have declined and indicate they might not return.

This restaurant is really intimate & cosy inside with a great date vibe. Because it is smaller, the noise level is not bad. You can easily have a conversation, but not so quiet where you feel everyone can hear your conversation. The service is friendly & personal & the food presentation is really pretty & elegant. The food offerings are a little different than a lot of sushi restaurants. They incorporate fresh fruit like pear slices, kiwi slices & blueberry in some of the rolls. Many of the rolls are not wrapped in nori, but in soy or rice paper. If you like sushi with lots of caviar, tempura flakes & mayonnaise, this is not for you. I found all the fish very fresh & mild. The sashimi is excellent & almost melts in your mouth. The more traditional rolls like dynamite are served with wasabi & ginger, but their more unique ones are not, but will be provided if you request it. The seafood in the rolls is generous & I had a hard time choosing a favourite. Barenaked was our table's least favourite. It did not contain any sushi rice & so for us, the texture wasn't our favourite, although the flavours were nice. I also don't love raw scallops, so for me that loses some points. The New Zealand was delicious with a slice of kiwi that made it feel so refreshing. I've heard their sushi bowls are excellent as well. Maybe next time. Finally, they have a decent dessert menu, which you don't always find in sushi restaurants. They have a matcha ice cream which is served in steel martini glass & 2 chocolate dipped pretzel type sticks. We had the chocolate mousse (delicious), pecan brownie served warm with ice cream (vanilla or coconut- we had coconut) & the matcha with a poor of green tea to finish the meal. All the desserts were fantastc & really pretty in their presentation.

I would definitely go back. Reservations are a must due to the limited seating. It's not inexpensive, but the freshness, quality & unusual, imaginative selection of rolls justified it IMO.

Small yet homey restaurant. I took the lunch combo of 12 pieces($34). 3 nigiri & 9 maki. It was filling with the Asian salad that's included with it. My favorite was the scallop maki. It was very tasty! The rest were good. I wish we had the option to order from their reguar menu as well, but we were told it was only from the lunch menu that we could pick our food. Too bad I wanted to try their tempura & other rolls.

When entering the restaurant, we were greeted with a strange odor. Despite ordering different maki rolls, tartare & rice paper rolls, it all tasted the same & bland. Finally, the sushi rice was mushy & overcooked.

This sushi restaurant left me with mixed feelings. On the one hand, it wasn't the first time we visited this place with my wife, & the first time was as special as this one - our anniversary. That's why we decided to book a table in advance, two weeks prior, choosing a special spot by the window. Unfortunately, due to a car accident on the road, we were 15 minutes late, which we reported to the restaurant by phone. Upon arrival, it turned out that our table was already taken. Of course, we were very upset, but decided not to spoil our evening & sat at another table. The service, as always, was excellent - the waiter, a young man with dark hair & excellent English, was very attentive. Alas, there were questions about the food. It seemed that there was a disproportionate amount of rice in the rolls. However, the tartare was simply divine, a huge thank you to the chef! But the most unpleasant thing was waiting for us ahead. Half an hour later, the table by the window that we had booked became free. We politely asked to be transferred, explaining the situation, but were refused. For over an hour before we left, this table remained empty, although we emphasized three times the importance of this place for us on this special day. Again, we were sitting at the next table on our anniversary, looking at the empty table that had been reserved for us. I consider this attitude of the staff to be unacceptable. Despite all the advantages of this restaurant, pleasant memories & good service, because of this attitude, I intend to forget the way to this restaurant.

Avocado Sushi Village is a delicious cozy little restaurant. You can find most of your staple rolls, but the real treat is their signature rolls, the Cynthia stands out amongst our entire meal. The menu offered a lot of variety with several vegetarian options. This place is a gem in the Point Claire village!

Amazing little spot in the pointe Claire village.

My daughter recommended it & it was just fantastic.

Sushi is very fresh, & they have some indicative & creative rolls not seen on other sushi menus around town. Lots of use of fruits too. One roll with kiwis, another with raspberries.

We tried about 9 different rolls this time, along with some nigiri. All were delicious & I would definitely order again.

We are not drinkers but there is a wine & cocktail menu. We went with a nice hot pot of green tea which went well with the meal.

Prices were very reasonable. Definitely not downtown sushi prices.

We ate there while the pastry chef was on vacation, so desserts were limited, but we did share a chocolate pecan brownie with ice cream. Very good as well.

Service was perfect all evening. The waitress was very attentive & friendly.
