Review Summary

Reviews depict Au Vieux Duluth as a dependable, family friendly restaurant with generous portions and good value, a wide menu beyond standard options and a BYOB policy that many patrons appreciate. Service is frequently praised as fast, courteous and attentive, able to accommodate large parties and keep drinks refilled without prompting. The food is usually solid to excellent, with highlights like moist chicken brochette and fresh calamari, and portions are generous with sides of salad and rice. Some items receive criticism, such as calamari described as tasteless, and a few guests note bland flavors or uneven timing with longer waits during busy periods. The setting is described as clean, modern, bright, and no smoking inside, contributing to a classic dining experience. Overall, guests find Au Vieux Duluth suitable for occasions from birthdays to casual dinners, thanks to friendly staff, consistent value, and the likelihood of a return visit.

We took my mother in-law out for supper from her seniors residence, & we were not disappointed. Excellent service from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left. & the food was just as good as the service , huge portions at decent prices . Server was constantly checking on water & refilling as needed , brought extra napkins without us even asking . We were able to bring our own wine . Great job by the staff at Le Vieux Duluth, we will be back.

Ate here yesterday for my 40th birthday with my family & it was so-so to ok. 1) Very nice restaurant, clean with modern decor. 2) Waiter did not come often to check if we needed more water, bread or if everything was ok. 3) Food took extremely long to come & my son had to wait 15 mins for his food to get served, after ours was served. So his sister shared her food with him because he had nothing served until 15 mins later. 4) Very hard to get the attention of a waiter when we needed more water or wanted to order more food from the menu. 5) Au Vieux Duluth Dorion is 20 mins away & has very fast attentive service with the food tasting even better. 6) My 6 & 3 year old kids were served watery orange juice in tall wine glasses, filled to the brim with straws. What was the waiter thinking to serve these to children! This was a spilled mess disaster waiting to happen. At the Dorion restaurant, they are always given apple juice in a child appropriate bottles. Overall, we came to the DDO location to make it easier for my West Island family to attend. But next time, we're sticking to the Dorion location which offers a better customer experience for your money.

I believe this was my first visit to Au Vieux Duluth, even though I lived here for some time. We went for a special occasion & it went very smoothly. I specifically loved the waiter, who was quite funny in his no nonsense approach. The food was ok, I would say that for the price though, it is excellent. You cannot really find much at this price point, notably as the serving sizes are fairly big, so bring a container to take the leftovers to go (& bring your own wine as well). The parking lot is kind of a mess though, the layout & the maintenance level. It also did not get too loud so we were able to talk easily amongst ourselves.

Cold, tasteless, dirty, mediocre at best. This restaurant has been around forever, just like it's demographic. To begin, service was fine, atmosphere was fine, where my distaste began was with the dirty wine glasses. We had multiple wine glasses that were foggy & dirty inside. I ordered the beef 12oz burger "steak", asked for it to be medium rare & it was certainly more on the rare side. Speaking of rare, it's not often I find myself eating cold food, but the meat was cold. Also ordered the fried fish which was still a bit frozen & wet in the middle. Potatoes were potatoes, rice is rice, salad was fine. Butter was frozen, bread was cold, the only thing that we ordered that was worth it was the entrees. For the price, each meal was 19$ or more. Overall you can definitely find yourself better Greek food one boulevard over at Marathons Souvlaki, or down the street at ur local Kojax. Would not recommend this place to anyone who is genuinely looking for a quality meal for the price.
